Leafbros, why is our global shipping still so fucked?

It hasn't gotten better at all despite the lockdowns being mostly lifted. Why don't we have any other ways to import stuff than scumfuck DHL? Note to burgers: DHL charges import-fees for everything they bring into this country.

Also does anyone know why HLJ and Amiami allow us to use unregistered-air but all of the smaller shops(like HobbyGenki or Anime-export) don't?

Ah, well I used to use CDJapan alot as well and they did, but have closed all their unregistered shipping options too.

No clue, I only use nin nin game now because they consolidate shipments and underreport. The wait is longer but I only pay $20-30 in import taxes no matter how big the box is that way

EMS closing last December really fucked us, you only had a 30%-isn chance of duties with that method whereas DHL is expensive AND loves to fuck you.

Yeah I do the same as this anon. Their private warehouse option has gotten ridiculously slow but I always get my stuff eventually without assrape import fees

Its because of the size of that Robot Damashii box. Two figuarts shipped is 1330 yen, the damashii bumps you up to the next tier. If your box is that big, you need to buy more stuff to make the shipping tier worth it.

Either order stuff that fits in a 210mm x 180mm x 135mm box, or buy a fuckload of stuff at once.

Pretty sure that will either result in Customs dinging me for the higher-value of the package or DHL charging even more brokerage per item.

Situation is pretty shit and I'm not buying anything else from an import store unless they can ship unregistered.

DHL doesn't charge more brokerage, I've had a 45k yen package of 4 items through them and it was only $20~ for the duty + tax of my province. You'd only have to pay more taxes.
DHL charges about $5~ separately (this is non-negotiable) and $15~ to process the customs for you (unless you declare the customs yourself at your customs office, like somebody else had mentioned).

Seems to be based on the price of what you are buying. It showed up as an option for something that was just under 5kyen, but not for a figure that was just over 8k yen.

HLJ is looser with their shipping restrictions, and you can split your warehouse into multiple shipments if you need to. 2 Unregistered packages is going to be cheaper than 1 DHL.
