Your logic falls apart when it's used on bjd because bjd are art. The people producing recasts aren't makeing an affordable comparable product, they're making a straight up counterfeit.
There are plenty of sub $300 bjd out there and tge sheer amount of companies to choose from means there's no excuse for buying a knockoff other than you want a doll you can't afford so you'll steal it.

Recasts cost less because the maker doesn't do any of the work developing it. They just swoop in and steal a finished product.

You wouldn't have your recasts without the originals to steal. They aren't not a legitimate competitive part of the market the way cheaper legit bud companies are. They're parasites that cannot exists without the original.
