Even if we take the movie out of the equation, Ghostbusters was so popular because of the cartoon and the toyline. Its also one of the top toylines of the late 80s/early 90's. Its also one of the reasons people complain about modern GB toylines, because the RGB line had dozens of great ghosts, monsters, demons, and all sorts of cool and strange shit. All recent lines have just been exhausting, since its just the four busters over and over and over again, and then maybe they throw in Gozer, or Slimer. I get what they were going for, but did we really need fucking Dana in the Plasma series? Couldn't have they have given us something cool like Slimer or the Librarian Ghost or anything?
