So, is Hasbro just not going to bother making decent Megazords? I was kinda hoping for them to make some quality combining zords. I like the lightning collection (er, sans some figures with some QC issues) but it seems like they are kinda ignoring that area of the franchise. Which is kinda ironic, since in Japan, that is the main focus of their merchandise, is the giant robots

that does look pretty good, I'll admit. Do you know if it is in the same scale as the Japanese versions, or is it smaller? I know Bandai america made smaller scale Zords when compared to the Japanese counterparts.

Has Hasbro said if they're going to make any older zords? they made the Zeo Megazord, but it's just a large action figure, it doesn't transform or anything

They brought John Warden over from Transformers about a year ago so I imagine they have bigger plans for Zords going forward. It takes roughly a year for a toy to be made from concept to release, so we're only now going to start to see his contributions to Power Rangers. Hopefully that means more Zords beyond the current season.

If it released recently, like Gaoking? You /might/ be able to get it from those two, but stock is usually low and empties fast.
If you're looking for an older set? Ebay and Mandarake.

So that random green piece on the t-rex zord wasn't a photography mistake after all. Great articulation on green and pink's hammer rotating is a nice feature. Hopefully it's possible to modify the wrist guns to angle up and down, since none of the photos so far have shown that they can do that.

I was about to say "what do you mean, that's only 2 bucks more than normal" when I realized that that's the US MSRP. Hasbro is out of hand. Their little 6" monopoly is getting to their heads and they're pricing themselves out. When there are so many other options on shelves remaining at their current price points, for at least the casual buyers (ie parents) who aren't hundreds of characters deep into Hasbro's lines, I can't see why they wouldn't choose other lines.

It's really apparent that out of all the major properties that Hasbro owns, they give PR the lease love. It's easily the worst of their 6in toylines except for maybe Ghostbusters. I feel like the people who work on this team don't even like Power Rangers. Star Wars, Marvel, GI Joe, and Transformers all have clearly dedicated fans of the franchises working on the them. PR doesn't have that same feeling.

I don't think it that's so much as of 1/12 scale figures this is the only current running brand both wholly owned by them.
The mistakes they make with LC they do with their Transformers all the time (wrong/missing deco,following one reference, etc) and they really make some ooffs with TFs such as the ill loved 'battle damage' that has still not fully left the brand 4 years later.
Star Wars, and Marvel have oversight by the owner of the IPs, they have to use approved sources and have to get green lighted by them. Screw ups still occur, but far less because brand has to be double checked by reps of other companies. as for Classified GI Joes consider both the fact that they are not trying to make them match 1 for 1 their comic/cartoon counterparts but also they have made so few when in comparison of the other brands, counting the movie collection Classifieds has only made 33 figures in two full year time,with 17 of those being exclusives. LC had 30+ in one year's time alone.

So I don't think it's they love the other brands so much as they have more oversight and/or don't need to match something 1 for 1.

Hasbro has made it clear more than once most of what we see out of Star Wars is at the behest of what Disney wants. The Marvel team has a lot more freedom clearly but they have even had situations where they are "encouraged" to what they add or take away from a wave.

With Ninja Rangers revealed and having just gotten Tengas I would've expected Rito to be next in line, so this is a pleasant surprise since a non-combatant like Finster seemed less likely to get a figure. This gives me hope for Squatt and Baboo. They're all we need to finally have a complete set of the season 1 crew.

Wasn't Astronema noticeably smaller compared to Andros? Ecliptor may be bigger, but I think he'll be an appropriate amount of bigger, not stupidly towering over the Rangers.

Astronema was in fact undersized, and part of the problem was not giving her heels, but Ecliptor still looks bigger than he should be. It's really annoying that they didn't fix her scaling for this release. Heels and longer legs would have made a big difference.

Missing paint apps weren't a QC issue on Trent. They intentionally didn't paint the visor trim because they thought they could get away with it, just like they intentionally didn't paint Ivan's neck, Green Tommy's diamonds, etc. Ultimately QC is a free space for a reason, because getting a figure with perfect paint apps is like hitting the lottery. Some people say "The QC has gotten better", and it absolutely hasn't. I can't tell you how many Carlos and Kai's I've looked through and the chest and/or helmet paint is fucked up one way or another on every damn copy.

This is a great figure but why not give him the actual mold he used instead of a random briefcase? If it's because they wanted him to be able to hold it they could have at least put the details from the prop on the face and flipped the Putties around so it opens and closes in the same direction as the mold in the show.

I've managed to get all of the Power Ranger ones outside of Zyuu. The only ones that were a hassle were the Lightspeed Super Train that I paid like, $200 from Mandarake, and the NinjaFalconMegazord that I won in an Ebay auction. Much more in demand since it was in the movie, as well as just being cooler than the Shogun Megazord, even though it has that fucking sick sword.

For those who missed it, someone posted their successful order confirmation showing the Canadian price in a Facebook group. I calculated the US price at $13.89 and contacted Amazon's customer service to see about matching the price. Different anon, but the only tools I can ever remember off the top of my head without checking are the big ones: The rolling pin, the protractor, the shears, the squiggly spade, and the tiny little clamp up above the others, and the figure has all of those. If the tiny little sticks in his apron's secret compartment are a different shape... Eh. It's hard to be upset about that. They're probably barely even visible at that size anyway. If those tools were important to Finster's character (like in one episode he took one of them out and said "Aw, my monsterginator. This was the first sculpting tool I bought after graduating Evil Space Art School...") that'd be one thing, but I don't think he was ever shown even using those tools.

In the figure that spike that he has on his left forearm should be above his elbow.

As far as the shoulders go they did pretty well. The way they did it is so that he still has articulation. That left shoulder spike is there. It just moves front to back on the figure. Depending on the angle it looks like it's missing but its there.

We have three Katherine headsculpts, why would you doubt giving a solo Rita a new head? Yes sometimes they reuse a head like Fighting Spirit Green, or Metallic Armor Black, but new releases tend to get new heads more often than not. I think Hasbro is smart enough to realize a new head would encourage people who already own the wedding edition to double dip on a solo Rita.

Yeah, I agree. Magna Defender, being a brand new sculpt, was really unlikely to get a Mike head. And Psychos and A-Squad were just as unlikely. But Ranger Slayer doesn’t really make sense to me, since it’s no harder to make a Kim head for her than it was to make a Tommy head for Drakkon. But whatever.
I assume Zhane will come with a different expression than Psycho Silver’s Zhane head, but you can never be too sure. There’s only really been one time where they didn’t change the head in some way, and it was for Fighting Spirit Tommy. Every ranger with multiple forms has gotten a new head for each form, except Jason technically, since he got a reused head in the SDCC 2-pack, but he also had a new smiling head. Zack got a new head in that it had different hair but that’s it. So it’s safe to assume they won’t straight up reuse Zhane’s head.

You might be able to, but I basically meant that there’s only so far you can extend the leg outward before this black joint connecting the legs to the body will give before it comes off. Yeah, that does look like a mistake. If its right leg is filled in on the inside, you might want to see if Hasbro will send you the correct part. The other in-hand picture on Twitter appears to show the front lower legs being mirrors of each other, not the same piece

Any chance for DST Power Rangers Selects?
It seems like this Hasbro 'partnership' is ongoing, but it doesn't seem like they're allowing them to make action figures. What was the last thing they could make, GI Joe stuff I think. But in non action figure form. Would be nice if they could make Selects, and given the martial arts background of the characters, they'd actually consistently give at least the Rangers double joints.

It honestly feels like Hasbro is more interested in outsourcing IPs they own rather than keep a staff on hand to make things. Their strongest sellers are the Disney Licenses and Transformers, perhaps they intend to just get royalties off the rest.

I wouldn't think Selects would be in direct competition with Super7, different price points, one's almost entirely online, the other is specialty stores, etc. But that doesn't really matter, the other Hasbro owned properties aren't getting Selects, I can't imagine Power Rangers will either. Even with his face painted King Sphinx looks like shit. My local Target is swimming in the monsters and refuse to clearance them. I see online that other stores are reducing them to $6, so I don't know why they aren't because they're never gonna move at full price. It's a highly trafficked store in a heavily populated area too, if they haven't sold by now they're not going to without a deep discount.

Clearly most people don't, or they aren't willing to go through that trouble when they can just buy them online directly from Amazon or Walmart for less than half. That’s what I do, and I’ve been customizing for a few years. I stick to Vallejo and Model Masters if you’re looking for better brands, but Tamiya is good too, I just prefer water based paints. Since it’s just detail work, you didn’t have to sand anything (I think), but you did a great job. It just makes me wish he’d had those details in the first place.

Yeah, they commissioned new Zyu footage and eventually just made more US footage with the Zyu suits instead. In 94 the property was seen as too big to risk changing the suits but the mecha footage was seen as being able to be adapted because it’d get more toy sales. The ranger suits got more play in advertising merch than the zords. Kiba was adapted cause the Dairanger mecha had the Tigerzord be prominently white and this the Dragonranger suit would stand out, to say nothing of all the footage of Kiba riding his mech. After the movie and third season underperformed they decided to take the risk of changing the suits to a contemporary series.

Different anon, but at the time, MMPR WAS Power Rangers. Changing their suits would've been like changing the costumes of Batman or Superman or Spider-Man (which usually proved unpopular when it happened). They didn't want to risk it.

But at the time, the toys were so new, they didn’t want to risk it because they thought people wouldn’t double dip for new costumes. Unfortunately there's still inaccuracies. The hands are missing paint deco and it's missing the gold circles on the arms/shoulders/legs etc

It's minor and at least not quite the same as the King Sphinx fuck up. What's annoying is, they could've used gold pins on the forearms and it would've worked ok.

Fucking hell, would it kill Hasbro to do the slightest bit of research when making these goddamn things? I have 6 sets pre-ordered and I'm ready to rage cancel them all. The constant errors are just ridiculous. All they had to do was look at a single fight scene of them from the show, or even the old Bandai figure, but they just grab the first thing off Google images and assume the rest. My experience in matching any color when it comes to paint has never been good, but I was actually thinking the silver would be the easier of the two to match. But either way, the sculpt is wrong so paint will only do so much. Really aggravating mistake. They have the balls to charge a full $42 for this set, and not only are they too cheap to sculpt new body parts wth the gold bolts, but they can't even get something as major as the head right.

I don't think anyone expects a perfect figure, but the number of boxes any given figure checks off is pretty stupid. They need to do better. There is no excuse for arms not being able to go down or legs not being able to split better. There's no excuse for not sculpting a head properly. Not sculpting something on a suit so you can use existing parts, or not painting something are understandable compromises for budget reasons, but doing shit wrong for no reason other than gross incompetence is inexcusable.

I don’t disagree with this, but it’s a Hasbro line. Feels like a weird bone to pick considering we get unique heads and weapons with almost every figure, I’m perfectly fine with getting a bunch of multicolored lightnings. I honestly prefer it, unfortunately every figure can’t get an effect piece as specific as Zack’s Power Cannon blast, especially when half the rangers just use swords. It’s like you said, there’s a ton of areas for improvement so I’d rather they focus their efforts towards something that would truly warrant being fixed.
