I like it. Looks much better in hand than in pictures. Stitching really doesn't stick out that much and it looks sleek, especially on a shelf. That being said I wouldn't pay above retail for one, unless you really want a black suit spidey and like cloth goods, which I know is a touchy subject with collectors ( I prefer cloth goods 9/10)

I hope Kraven gets a rerelease a la the 3 3/4” figure, with the zebra print arm bands and the more orange cheetah pants. I do like the 2-pack version though, especially with the inclusion of the rifle, but I don’t understand why they didn’t just repaint the malekith/wonder man arms so they could avoid the arm wraps that don’t match classic kraven.

As for Doc Ock, they’ve got a couple options for repainting. Green and white, full purple Master Planner, maybe even the white suit version.

Only if the price was really good, but even then I don't think everyone likes all the characters. IE for me is Kraven, Vulture and Electro, don't see why I would buy the rest even the price was amazing.

How dare you disrespect MODOK. I'd recommend having a row of the larger figs at the back with the shorter figs in front so it looks less busy, or buy some risers to make them a little more noticeable.

Other then that i like the variance, got a lot of neat figures in there.

So I'm getting into collecting Marvel figures and I'm going to be focusing on the 90s, does anyone have any suggestions for characters from that era that I'm missing (besides X-Men and FF)?

I'm changing black suit Spidey for a Scarlet Spider and am adding IG Thanos and Mafex Venom to the list.
Also I am considering buying Galactus despite not really knowing where I will put him, so that adds Nova and Silver Surfer (I actually like the deco of this one more than the Walgreens one).

Marvel management disliked the show at the time and Disney doesn't give a shit about making Marvel cartoons any good, they consider them to be disposable garbage for toddlers which is why each Spider-Man cartoon is worse.The creators had to FIGHT with management to even get a second season going despite having great ratings and reviews because the higher-ups thought the show "wasn't enough like the movies" and also "cost too much".

This is completely false. Marvel was very happy with it and 52 episodes were green lit from the start.

This was Loeb's take. Simply put, he didn't like it cause he didn't create it. It didn't get picked up for a 3rd season cause Loeb thought that by making it more like the MCU he could get higher ratings and more non-comic book people to watch. He was wrong.

It would be nice but not as Legends. I don’t want toon-style figures in the Legends line. It’s bad enough they include MCU and now toon-styled “What If…” garbage, if they added old cartoon figures too it would be too much. A separate toyline that I could easily avoid would be better.

…not that I have to worry because NOBODY is going to make figures from a cartoon that ran two seasons and then got canceled 10 years ago

Technically this costume has never been done in that style. It had no loincloth, a different style of leggings with quiver on the thigh, different mask etc. Clint had a lot of looks in the 90s.

My Avengers shelf is very EMH inspired. Just the addition of Wands and Pietro. I'm missing Carol though. I'd love for a classic costume version but I doubt we're getting a new one anytime soon. My best bet would be to buy the one from that old 3 pack based on her swimsuit costume.

Making things similar to the movies is a Disney attitude as well. Disney likes synergy and sameness and doesn't want things to have their own voice and style. EMH's 2000's and 1960's mash-up is unique and not what "people think of" when they think of Avengers.

Loeb falls very much in line with this stuff and is clearly creatively bankrupt to sell this sameness. As if anyone will be talking about his Cloak and Dagger series 10 years from now, Vs EMH...

I think it was just because of the whole push to make Carol the face of female super heroes in Marvel, what with all the stuff in the comics and the film going on, mixed with them trying to pander to that crowd with extreme views on female costumes.
I seem like they've lightened up on it now though I'm not sure why, my guess is because that costume looks better alongside other heroes in retro style merch.

I disagree friend. Soft food would literally be tailored to fit the figure exactly. If you did an entire upper torso flap w/ shoulder blades like the recent Quasar figure it would look even better. Soft good chest plate, skirt and leg wraps on a generic buck and you’re 90% of the way there.

That's not how Marvel Legends tooling works, you can't just pick and choose parts from different figures and slap them together. Those Captain America gloves are on a mold with some version of the Grim Reaper body, that's the only body that will use them. Same for Ultron or Wolverine's shoulders. And soft goods? It'd have to be a massive retool for that to work. The only things Air-Walker would be able to use are the shoulders and biceps, every other part of that toy has molded detail specific to Thor. So what's the point in it being an re-mold if 95% of the toy needs to be different.

Honestly they were sexier. You're used to seeing more modern interpretations of the White and Black Queens but back when the original Hellfire Club storyline happened the outfits looked downright modest by modern standards.

I prefer the original Sasquatch wave release of that one because the coloration was more interesting than the red chest harness of the retro carded one. But it's a solid figure on one of Hasbro's best ML bodies so you can't go wrong either way.

That anon is right that it's the 80th. There's a Selects Hulk that's a bit bigger which is really similar but sadly doesn't come with a more neutral head. He just has a screaming one. A lot of people like that one for its size though. He's also getting a reissue in the next few months so he'll be far cheaper than the 80th Hulk aftermarket prices. Just a potential alternative if you're on a budget.

At this point, tiers are just frosting. Silver Surfer was essential, and Nova was a great goal given the stands that both come with, but I’m selling Morg, and I’m all in on this head for the “fun” factor. I think a Celestial head would’ve been better but I wasn’t expecting yet another figure with it. I’d rather they include something like this that most people don’t really give a shit about, than something really cool that doesn’t get funded or it’s locked behind this Haslab. Stuff like Morg fits that description perfectly, only some people want that but everyone wins since it’s a figure you can sell at least.
I’ll enjoy having a giant Doom that can stomp my Reed Richards though.

Effect pieces and the like are realistically mostly accessory box filler. Most collectors use one or two of them and the rest just end up gathering dust. I'd much rather have seen another Herald figure that's unlikely to be made otherwise like Red Shift or Stardust.

While you're not wrong that most effects part tend to sit in a box, unused, that's exactly where this Doom head will go. Nobody is displaying that. Another Herald would obviously have been the ideal final tier but I was never really expecting that to happen, so I would have much preferred effects that I might use to a head that I definitely won't.
Fingers crossed that with Galactus being successful, Hasbro will see the profit in putting out more Heralds and we'll get a wave or some boxsets to fill out the rest.

Top right is Lord Mar-Vell. The Captain Marvel from a parallel universe where he defeated the very concept of death. He ended up becoming the avatar of The Many-Angled Ones (think Marvel Lovecraft), who used him to metastasize the entire universe into one giant undying cancer.

Bottom right is Thane, the bastard offspring of Thanos. The product of Mutant Eternal (Thanos) and an Inhuman. He can generate a sort of cosmic amber, which traps beings in a prison of living death with one hand and instant death with the other hand. He was supposed to be a great champion against evil but has since fallen in league with Thanos’ right hand man Ebony Maw.

I considered them but have other plans for Infinity Watch and Jack of hearts. Annihilus can fit in any FF4 wave, like pic. Plus I don’t think we need Annihilus as a BAF again… regular figure is fine, I don’t want them getting fancy and fucking up like last time.

Tyrant is a favorite of mine but I wouldn’t sacrifice a BAF-sized Terrax for Tyrant. Tyrant could be used elsewhere.

It's a great look, though I think it was way overused and doing so is what kind of killed its effectiveness. There's still a handful of characters where I think their entry into the jacket fad was the best look they ever had.

Yes, many people speculated but one autist kept trying to tell us there were rumors that it was a Celestial. They actually kept avoiding that answer along with any other potential herald being an incentive. They could have been direct. They purposely are amibgious to drum up interest. This is the thing people should be mad it. Hasbro doesn't shut down rumors on haslab tiers. They're direct when people ask about other stuff. Is another deadpool wave in the works? I remember being a little kid and picking up a new issue of Silver Surfer, seeing Tyrant go toe-to-toe Galactus. I was shocked! I knew a thing or two about Galactus and the idea that any being could take the fight to him like that was inconceivable at the time. Plus, he had such an interesting design as this ancient being held together with alien tech.

Think I'm finally going to back Galactus before it's too late. The price for value seems a lot better now, and there's no way I'll ever bite the bullet on this thing on the aftermarket prices. I got two of em loose from Dorkside for like $6 and the last one on sale at Gamestop. They're nice because outside of the star on their chests they're very generic figures. The heads came from the MCU Red Skull figure, who had three extra Hydra Trooper heads, so it was easy to make an instant squad.

They're with Nuke right now, but I might mix them in with my Cobra forces or something, but they certainly make better evil mercs then they do Captain America.

Fuck you guys, I like it. It reminds me of Secret Wars and it will be fun to swap out the head occasionally and have a giant DOOM bullying Richards or battling the marvel universe. I have the walgreens FF arriving tomorrow along with Medusa and retro Vision. Really looking forward to Thing and Vision the most. Only other one is 80 year cap, which just shipped.

As for mafex, I'm not a 90's jim lee x-men fan, so the only other figure I will get is wolverine and then the new ironman, maybe x-factor cyclops, but i really just want the og version.

I remember watching the website and Brickseek for a month because I knew if I didn't get them when they initially came in I'd never get them for retai. And I was right. I ran into the same thing. I’m not an MCU guy but I did end up getting both 80th Cap and Symbiote Cap in person. I was really happy with 80th because the paint apps were so messed up on the comic head, and I saw three in person so I managed to pick the best one. The inventory checkers I used don’t really work anymore for Walmart stuff so here’s hoping they don’t get anymore comic exclusives, I guess.

Why not? Galactus is awesome, way better than anti-mutant tinker toys. Galactus appeals to F4 fans, Silver Surfer fans, Cosmic Marvel fans, Kirby fans, etc.

I don't really consider it scalping. They're made to order unlike other toys where people just buy up all the stock. This is ordering something that wouldn't have been made unless you put the money into it. It's more like you're a merchant taking up the bill for your stock that wouldn't have been produced without you. So your conscious can rest easy. In my humble opinion anyway.

I’m sure there was some pump to get it over the goal, they were on the precipice of getting over $5M, so what’s a few hundred thousand to get the rest nailed down? Galactus is the bad guy to end all bad guys, and he comes with a ton of stuff. Plus there’s still dozens of collectors starting to get into ML every year. I’m not really surprised that it is what it is. There’s probably even people buying one just to flip it for a sentinel they missed out on. That seems like a reach but there’s gotta be one out there.
