Status of MCX:
Land Shark, Slime Pit and "Hordak Strikes" construction sets.
Slime Pit pre-order is only $10.34 (confirmed skeletor head), while Land Shark is $26.24 ... that shouldn't be any bigger than the $19,99 MSRP Battle Ram, so I hope there's a third figure and other goodies.
"Hordak Strikes" shows an MSRP of $29.99 ... I have no idea what that's going to entail: just figures like the $19.99 5-pack? Figures with buildable Mantisaur?
Thread Question: What do you want to be announced at Powercon?

>>9281094 Honestly, because a lot has already been leaked, im going to think outside the box.
An announcement I would want is a lull in the production of He-Man, Skeletors, and anything else from wave 1 that's now clogging the shelves for a while in order to get fresh product out. It would also be nice if MOTWWEU stopped being exclusive or got moved to Target, as between the two stores Target has been my go to for MOTU, hands down.
It would also be nice if Mattel could announce a timeframe in which new products are supposed to start dropping, kind of like a "look out for Mosquitor and wave 7 of Masters of the Universe origins, comming September 2021!". I dont need a date per say, but an idea of when to jump back into hunting would be neat.
Anonymous
>>9281133 >It would also be nice if MOTWWEU stopped being exclusive It's gonna be exclusive...ly on the second hand market since WWE cancelled the line.
Anonymous
>What do you want to be announced at Powercon? A couple of things I think would be neat:>in addition to what's leaked, tell us what to expect for waves 9 and 10 of Origins so we have all of 2022 covered >I'd like a confirmation that those concept art figures on boxes are 100% getting toys, and tell us how they will be released (like will they be standard retail releases, or will they end up exclusives like other non-vintages like Spacesuit man and Eternian Guard) >since it's the 40th anniversary, I think another "create a character" contest would be neat. >an Origins based series would be a cool thing, even if it's an "out there" want. Like a full monthly comic series in the same vein as the minicomics, or a short animated series of 10 minute episodes with lighthearted adventures and low continuity (similar to Cyberverse)
Anonymous
>>9281156 Yeah, i knew about that. Still kind of bummed we didnt get Ram-Mankind or Vince McMahon. But at least they are still doing WWE figures in the style (I love the modularity). On the bright side, now that they dont have to conform to being expys of MOTU characters (which was a gimmick i enjoyed), i feel like we will be getting more wrestlers overall, and maybe even some more body molds (fat, thin, ect). And if Honky Tonk Man is any indicator, unique accessories are going to be made for the line.
The bad news is that its also a Wallyworld exclusive, and due to current events they arent stocking anything at this point.

Well /motu/bros, I finally picked up my first classics fig and I have some mixed feelings on it. He's absolutely gorgeous, but he just doesn't feel as fun as any of my Origins. The articulation just feels so clunky even with the ab crunch and slightly better range in the legs. But man that head looks fantastic tho. The vibrant green, yellow, and red remind of a traffic light in a good way. I don't think I'll pick up many more classics, but it's nice to know that my "Origins is better" train of thought hasn't just been a case of sour grapes.
Anonymous
>>9281219 He absolutely shits all over the Masterverse Skeletor though lmao

Quoted By:
>>9281219 >it's nice to know that my "Origins is better" train of thought hasn't just been a case of sour grapes I don't own a ton of Classics, but in cases where I have both the Classics and Origins versions, each line does specific characters better.
Classics has a better MAA, Roboto, and Evil-lyn, but Origins has a better Skeletor, Trap Jaw and Clamp Champ. They're tied when it comes to Mer-man.
I have no other bases for comparison outside those few.
Anonymous
>>9281219 Imo they're two sides of the same coin. I own maybe 60+ Classics figures and i've always said the same thing;
Classics were essentially made by the 4Horsemen (the creators of Mythic Legions). Their sculpting is amazing, probably some of the best in the business to be honest. However, the caveat to that is that their figures' articulation takes a hit. Personally, I can't say that Origins are "better", but I definitely agree that they have more playability than Classics.

Anonymous
>>9281349 >this is more Mattel's fault than theirs When it comes to sculpt, yes. Scott said he was called to a meeting to justify the cost of Draego-Man's parts for middle management. A non-flaming sword, flaming whip and shield were all cut.
Anonymous
>>9281356 That's so dumb to me just because didn't Draego-man reuse parts for at least 50% of the figure? He had basic furry trunks, King Hiss arms and thighs, Whiplash tail, I assume the standard buck under his armor. We're his hands and feet reused too?

Here’s the big question… will Minicomics Stratos have the cool feather ring (like in classics) or will they do a red backpack (like in MCX) I think the backpack looks dumb, to be honest, and will end up taking it off if they include it. I really, REALLY like the feathers, however, and to me it’s the best Stratos design. I expect them to go with the red backpack, however, as it’s cheaper tooling and ultimately I don’t think most people will care. I just hope there are customs out there I can buy if they don’t end up using the feathers. I also expect neither version to have the little belt part though. I hope I’m wrong and they give us more of a classics style minicomic Stratos, would love to be proven wrong as it’s one of my favorite designs in MOTU for some damned reason.

Mattel OKs all the art, and they send Axel pics of upcoming figures so he can include them on boxes. I don't remember the source now, but we were told once that characters don't get included in package art for no reason.

Does anyone here have any experience with children and motu? Another trend in Scott's videos is to constantly say that modern children don't like motu. My kids love it - the figures and the cartoon. Side note, but I was an 80s baby and in the late 80s - early 90s hardly anyone at my school talked about Star Wars. It was kind of around in the background but not the media juggernaut it is today. >action cartoons used to be a dime a dozen >they were replaced by anime and then killed off entirely Nope, still a bunch of them
>comics industry used to be huge >it barely exists now and no comics are read by kids I'll give you that one, at least for the big two
>there used to be multiple competing toy stores >Not a single one exists anymore Wrong again
>there used to be regular toy commercials for action figures >now there's none So you've never watch tv

>>9285908 Over the last handful of years people have complained (myself included on occasion) about Transformers going too hard on G1 recreations, but MOTU is what an actual collapse into a nostalgia brand looks like. That doesn't mean kids aren't involved, but the dynamic isn't the same and that's what the CG show is trying to address. Maybe it'll work out.

>>9285941 >dedicated channels That nobody watches and isn't the same, as being able to come home and flick on ABC, NBC, TBS, CBS, FOX, WB, TNT, TBS, DISNEY, USA, and even the SCI-FI channel in addition to NICK and CN, who all aired cartoons in the mornings and after school and even had saturday morning cartoons, which was how we got most of the action cartoons.
Nobody watches these "dedicated" channels that you have to pay extra for in the same way that you could some of the big stations, which ran their cartoons in syndication.

Granted, this was before shit like ipads were a huge thing- I certainly wasn't raised on them like some kids are nowadays.

but now with more context, at least is balanced and he wont be a complete dumbdumb

>>9285712 Yeah agree with you. Oh dude, I feel you on Star Wars. I remember geeking out when I found out my friends were more obsessed with Star Wars than I was. I had these books on the creatures, ships, characters, etc. from the movies and EU, but man they knew all of that and more. I seemed like a casual compared to them. It was insane. It felt great.
I also think most kids seem to gravitate towards toys in toy aisles, and they are smart enough to do a bit of research on the toys themselves or ask around at school or whatever kids do these days.
