Most likely, considering the SC wave at least had a few cool figures and a nice BAF.

The Eternals literally has nothing worth looking at and honestly even if they packaged a proper BAF it still wouldnt save the wave.

Probably Broly since I imagine he could lift the ground under Juggernaut if h gets angry enough, he's pretty much Hulk but he can fly and shoot beams and Juggernaut has lost to him before I'm pretty sure.

Totally understandable, I just not a fan of soft goods capes for Marvel Legends because it makes the figure look too good compared to everything else. That's really dumb reasoning I know.
Like, that's why I'd want to use the Zombie Hunter Spidey cloak instead of a movie Strange cloak for a custom What If Strange, because it has less sculpted detail and so in my mind better fits the style.

I was lukewarm about the What If...? wave but seeing how many characters got passed over, I'd really want a 2nd wave with Yellowjacket, the Collector, Gamora, Ultron and I suppose Black Widow since she seems to be part of the team up. Demon Strange or Sakaar Iron Man would make a good BAF.

Doom seems likely to happen eventually, they can easily reuse parts from previous Dooms.

I think they might be able to get a Punisher 2099 figure. Probably just use the Walgreens/Vintage series Frank as a base and add on the shoulder pads and such. Or would the Night thrasher/Beetle body work better?

I think the only one that could be a problem is probably Hulk 2099 (which is the one of the ones I want the most), since you can't just pop a new head on a hulk body. I'm surprised they haven't done Flipside yet, since Hasbro loves repainting that Spidey buck.

This what if was up there with Cap Carter for me. I think I may have liked it more too. The bleak ending was actually nice to see. Hi, are Marvel Legends figs good quality? I've never bought superhero action figures before, but I'm eyeing up the comic-styled War Machine, 80th Iron Man, and Modular Iron Man figures potentially (I like robot/power armor/mech/etc characters, and the designs of these seem cool).

I'd say they've gotten much better in the last year or so, as long as it's a newer mold they tend to get pretty good.
80th Iron Man and deluxe War Machine are some of the best figs the line has to offer imo. I haven't got my Modular IM yet so I can vouch for that.

It depents compared to what. When you say you haven't bought superhero action figures... do you mean you are new to adult-ish collectible action figures in general or do you come from other media action figures?
Marvel Legends represent the typical "good enough", 20dollar-ish serviceable action figures and they are very succesful at that. In raw material, paint quality or piece count (articulation and accessory count) they are much better than Happy Meal toys, and in turn they are naturally worse than higher end brands. Sculp quality is subjective, I think they do a good job at generally looking and articulating good for the price.

Well, both-ish in a sense. I never bought comicbook characters outside a couple lego sets in my life, and the only action figures I ever had growing up were Bionicle and Transformers (Animated and Bayformers 1-2), but that was almost a decade ago; as far as recent years go, I have a bit of experience with a couple TF Generations figs (Siege+ER specifically), figma, and a handful of mecha model kits... ultimately not too comparable, I imagine.
I am [sorta] familiar with the current quality of the Halo Spartan series figs going on right now, but I'm waiting for the quality to bump up a little bit in the coming year or two first, so I've never actually owned one of them neither.

Mate, where did I say it was going to be cheap? I just said “it will never be cheaper than next week”. When everyone gets them in-hand, many are going to try to sell an extra or two. Whether that’s 10% of the 21k units or 50%, I have no clue, but like you said, it’s going to shoot up in price down the road as it becomes rarer and rarer. Hence my statement that it will never be cheaper than when people start to get them in hand and inevitably flood the market. I have no clue whether that will even affect the sentinels, but lots of people will either try to sell an extra sentinel or their prime sentinels to make some money back and offset the cost. There’s no need to be rude, I’m well aware that none of the figures will ever be “cheap” but I don’t expect Bastion to sit at $200 the whole time either.

As someone who previously only collects import figures and only started buying legends a month ago I'm really impressed.

The pins and the ab crunches are still a bit ugly and the lack of floating necks, butterflies, diagram ballpegs, floating hips and toes joints hinder articulation somewhat, but you can still make them look good. Better than I had imagined.

There are some really good poses in there, Namor, Goblin and Mr. Fantastic are particularly good, but also some bad ones like Kingpin, Kang and Colossus. What are you even going for with Colossus?

You’ve got two real options for the standard look, Super Skrull wave and Retro.

Super Skrull wave Doom has the benefit of a darker color scheme and additional head.

Retro has the lighter color scheme that some prefer, also has fabric tunic-thingy, books, ultimate nullifier, and magic effect parts.

I recommend buying both because why not?

The ML wolvies are passable for what they are.
Speaking of MAFEX though I really wonder how their Iron Man will turn out, it looks sleek but I'm not seeing much incentive to upgrade from my 80th Iron Man, which is weird since I normally would.

For me what's making it feel cluttered are the books and boxes being used as risers. It's adding a bunch of extra noise that my eyes are having trouble finding silhouettes of the figures on that top pic. I would say just get some clear acrylic risers instead. I think the figures themselves are okay although I personally would remove a few just to simplify and add a little more space between the groups.

Just got Titanium Man. He's one of the most impressive Marvel figures I've witnessed in a while. Select should just do big figures or those big armors or something. Titanium Man and Destroyer Armor will probably never be topped.

While I think the amount of figures is fine for that type of display, I agree with you on not having every figure in a dynamic crazy action pose. It looks too busy in my opinion and makes it hard to see the individual figures. They all kind just blend in when they are all fighting each other/interacting with each other.

A pair of optional clear orange flame on legs would've been great too. I've been contemplating having a go a casting his legs in clear to try that myself but I've never done any casting before, so I have no clue how I'd go about keeping the articulation.

Beast (blue and grey) is a very fun figure for the range of movement the mold offers, you can get some really good dynamic poses which you wouldn't expect from a bulky figure. Hopefully they reissue that mold soon.
90s Black Widow is really good... for a female marvel legends, she's got a well sculpted head and comes with a decent amount of accessories.
Bit of an oddball but I enjoy Skullbuster, once you get that jacket off of him the body has a lot more range, plus it's a good figure for kitbashing parts.
For BAFs I'd say Sugarman is up there for best sculpted Marvel Legends, he's got a lot of character to him and the arms all have good range.
Also, it should go without saying, but anything that uses the 80th Iron Man is good in my book too (Silver Centurian, 2020).

I think it's due to a few things. Things that are Marvel/Disneys fault, and some that aren't. Like the designs are boring and not at all interesting to look at. Just explain it as the outfit of his great great grandpa, Kika Yuu Azzu.

The other thing is that people don't know who these characters are. Sure hardcore comic fans might. Like how Ironman had failing popularity until his movies jumpstarted it, but even then people at least heard of Ironman. Not sure if Shang rings any bells for casual comic fans. This isn't really the fault of anyone just an issue I can see popping up. These same issues apply to Eternals as well. Which could have been interesting but they just look like a bland family from a Hallmark sitcom or something.

I'll give Shang a watch some time since I agree an MCU martial arts flick has potential to be at the very least fun.

No, you'd be looking for this, the mark 43. Decent mold imo, just rough on the QC both paint and joint-wise given the gummier plastic especially on the knees. Cursory glance says that it's going for around 40-50 bucks, I dunno if he's worth that but I actually think the basic mold is one they should have refined and used more often.

Absolutely. I had the same thing with the MOTU Origins figures. Said I only wanted He-Man and Skeletor. Now I'm like 15 figures deep with more on the way.

That's good advice.
I'm not planning to pick up every release, hero wise that list is the extent of the characters I want and even then I want really specific versions of those characters (mainly their 90s attire) and some of them I don't expect we'll ever get (like the 90s F4).
Additionally for some of them I'm waiting for imports to make, like I want a Scarlet Spider, Captain America, Hawkeye and Beta Ray Bill from Mafex so I won't be jumping on any new Legends of those characters if they happen to be made.

This is basically my mentality too. I want the core 90s X-Men line-up (only need Psylocke now) and a few villains (basically the ones that are in the 90s cartoon intro) and Wolverine's iconic looks, I have brown suit, tiger stripe, Weapon X, and his first mini-series disguise, now I just want a street clothes look that has a shirt not a singlet, and Patch.
Spider-Man is a little more varied though. I have Pizza Spidey and the Retro card one, so I'm pretty set for his standard red and blue, now I'm just waiting on another Symbiote suit so I don't have to go after market. I have the PS4 game figure, but I'd really like an improved version of that. I had the 90s Toy Biz Cyborg Spider-man as a kid, so the ML of that was a must. Now I just want a ML of the Raimi suit and I'll be happy. The Retro collection has been great for collecting his villains though, hopefully we get that rumoured Rhino and Lizard release.

I know the answer's gonna be "never ever," but any ideas if we'll ever get any figures inspired by the 2000s shows? I know rights issues might potentially be a thing, and that culturally we're still busy milking the 90s (for some reason, even though it's 2021 and we've been wanking the 90s nonstop since they ended, even during the 2000s), but man the 2000s shows have some of my favorite designs for some of the characters - EMH's S1 Ultron and Spectacular's Doc Ock, Electro, and Green Goblin are easily my favorite designs for these villains ever, even next to the comicbook designs.
Ah well, guess I'll have to keep waiting. It's strange though, almost feels like everybody's trying to brush 2000s stuff under the rug; not Marvel, but for example we're already getting rumors of TF Prime figures being made, despite that TF Animated has never had any toys beyond the initial run. I see this happening in cartoons, games, and movie properties too all over, it's really odd...

I hope so. The double thwip hands suck. And I’m not a huge fan of her being on the “teen” body, if they gave her a more adult look I’d enjoy it. The new Shriek looks to be slightly shorter than the usual Invisible Woman mold, and they said they’d bust out new legs for taller women, so I say stick her on the short legs and she looks like an adult. But I’d love that, mostly because we’d get a shot at an alternate head.

Yeah I dunno either. I think their reasoning is Strange is acting rather odd and wouldn't cast such a spell that could cause serious trouble. That they're putting some of One More Day into the film. Not saying I buy into that or want it. This is just the speculation I've seen.

Since they're having Strange cast a spell that erase's people's memory of Peter's identity, Mephisto being involved in some way would make sense to also tie into the whole One More Day/Brand New Day/One Moment In Time reference

When the first Strange movie came out, the pegs were flooded. Didn’t help that a) the “astral” strange MCU figure was garbage, b) Baron Mordo was unbearably plain, c) MCU Strange had a pretty bad head sculpt and a restrictive cape, and d) the only comic Strange in the wave was practically a rerelease of the one from the Hulkbuster wave, but with a cape.
I can see why Hasbro might’ve cooled on Dr Strange stuff for a bit. What I’m HOPING for, is that with him having a great What If episode, and him getting a second movie and a substantial appearance in No Way Home, and just general positioning of him as the new big superhero, that we’ll see a decent comic representation. Blue shirt, black pants, some alternate hands, maybe magic effects. They could reuse him for an Astral form too. And I want to see Clea and Mordo represented properly too.

He's set up to get a lot of attention so I'd wager a proper comic version is coming eventually. If not soon then I'd guess with MoM. If not by then Hasbro's dumb as hell. I wanted a proper mcu Cumberbatch Strange so I'm glad a good looking one is coming. I can't see them passing up on comic Strange too.

Much better. I could suggest some minor tweaks to the poses (Doom/Thing, Thor/Kang, Colossus, Beast) but for the most part those are really good.
You should see about getting a Daredevil to pose with Kingpin though. The pose could look good if he was fighting someone but as it is it looks like he's awkwardly running away from Spidey.

For a classic Daredevil, yes. A new classic DD has to happen eventually though.
The absolute best Daredevil ML right now though is from the Spider-Man retro wave. It's just a matter of whether you like the costume or not.

Some really good poses in there, but I'd suggest having your teams and related characters stick together. have iron man and thor back to back next to vision and panther, and move doom and the FF closer together to the left by namor. Personally id have hulk up next to the other avengers, and just have beast go along with the other xmen. And kingpin looks really goofy in an action pose, having him in a more neutral pose would bring some order to the chaos. But great stuff overall I'm jealous anon

There's still very little rhyme or reason to what's going on. Everyone's just jumping or flying through the air. Yeah, the individual poses are fine, but there's no cohesion between figures. I for example, have individual shelves for different teams. I have my Avengers in a stoic heroic kind of pose. My X-Men shelf recreates the interlocking X-Men #1 cover and so on.

Like, what the fuck is Kingpin doing? Good poses alone, do not make a good display. Think it out some more with that little brain.

Not that anon but War Machine is awesome. I got mine for 30 and am very happy with him. He comes with a lot of cool shit, too. They must have made a bunch of him because he's still basically 30 bucks. I keep expecting him to shoot up in price for how good he is and being a favorite 90s version as well as all the accessories but he's been 30 for a while. Doctor Strange is in the story because Peter goes to him to attempt to rewind time to save his aunt, but it doesn’t work. Other stuff happens, but they make a deal with Mephisto to trade their marriage for aunt May’s life, AND Mephisto erases spider-man’s identity from public knowledge. However, because he also technically erases the memory of his involvement for both of them, the in-universe reason that no one remembers his identity is that Strange cast a spell. It’s just that Mephisto technically altered reality to make that happen, Peter didn’t specifically ask Strange to do it.

And the limitations of the spell are what you said, he could only reveal his identity to someone if he wanted to. Unmasking himself breaks the spell, but for people like Norman Osborne, they were physically incapable of putting two and two together.
That changes after Spider Island, where Peter pretends to get spider powers at the same time as everyone else. And to help the avengers fight a bunch of “bad” spider powered people, he convinces the rest of the New Yorkers to use their powers to help, instead of just screwing around. But he does this by filming himself using his powers outside of his costume, and he even says his full name on camera. That technically broke the spell, so while characters like Green Goblin don’t magically remember who he is, they are capable of re-learning, and they receive all their old memories along with that.

Honestly it seems only tangentially related. Peter’s had his identity revealed, and strange is putting the toothpaste back in the tube. I’m sure we’ll get the moral dilemma of whether he’ll tell Ned and his aunt and MJ if he’s Spidey all over again.

Street level villains are probably my favourite too, though I do enjoy grand Avenger/JLA tier villains as well.
It's a but normalfaggy but Batman has my favourite set of rogues, even his obscure ones are so much fun like Crazy Quilt or Kite Man, it's one of the reasons I wish DC had a ML like line, since I doubt we'll ever get a toy of the Ventriloquist or Great White from the Mcfarlane line.

You're right there. The MCU one made a smart move in focusing on only one aspect, erasing his identity from public perception, instead of also breaking up a marriage and saving the life of Aunt May.

Yeah I agree, I've been pretty neutral on the MCU spider-man films so far (I don't hate them as much as some people do) but this one has my interest, even if it is just because of the nostalgia pandering.
Though I hope they don't ditch the slow burn sinister six they were setting up in Homecoming.

The only thing people disliked about OMD was getting rid of the marriage. You could argue that maybe getting rid of Aunt May would have progressed the character a little but they tried that in the 90s during the Clone Saga and it didn't stick. Really, making his identity a secret again, moving him out of Stark Tower (he was living there with May and MJ at the time), and giving him mechanical web shooters again (he had organics at the time because muh synergy) were all things people actually were fine with. It was more breaking up the marriage and making him into a pathetic manchild is what put people off. The latter probably hitting slightly too close to home for the target demographic...

Very true, although I don’t see how it would be possible at this point. While I’m fine with the older villains coming back, I’m a little disappointed because it means we likely won’t get an MCU take on Green Goblin or Doc Ock. Doc Ock is a maybe, it would be relatively easy to just have some MCU guy show up with the same powers as Molina down the road, if the movie’s focus is more on the sinister six. But I don’t see how we can have Willem come back as GG and then later have a meaningful story with an MCU version and actor as GG and do the whole storyline of “my best friends dad is a villain and he knows who I am”.

So I hope the sinister six comes together. But I do think that having MCU Mysterio and Vulture (and maybe Scorpion?) mixed with Raimi Goblin, Ock, Sandman, and Webb Electro, is kinda weird, and it feels forced, since half the characters have no history with MCU Peter. But I’m sure they’ll make it work.

The opposite is true for many. When you "surpassed" your childhood hero, (wife, kids, job) only to watch him become a divorced NEET is just bizarre. Peter's forced regression broke the character and the comic.

What's even going on with the NWH Sinister Six anyway? Is it Raimi Goblin/Ock, ASM Rhino/Lizard/Electeo, MCU Vulture or is it Raimi Goblin/Ock, ASM Electro and MCU Vulture/Mysterio? I keep seeing mixed rumours for it.
Also isn't Kraven meant to get in the film too?
I think they could still do the goblin storyline in the MCU post NWH, maybe they could play with it and have Peter assume Osborne will get the Green Goblin in his universe too but it ends up being Harry instead? (Or make him Hob Goblin) and maybe have the six be different villains from NWH?

Anyway to bring it back to toys, I really can't wait for possible figuarts or Mafex versions of Dafoe Green Goblin, I don't normally buy movie toys but I'd make an exception for him.

Just got Kingpin in and his left knee is completely frozen. I already tried heating it with hot water and couldn't get it to budge. Should I just contact Hasbro for a replacement leg? Since he was a BaF originally he's easy enough to pop apart.

No confirmation on anything so far. Obviously we know we’ve got Raimi Ock, Raimi Goblin, and ASM Electro in the mix. There’s speculation that Raimi Sandman is involved as well, based on sand in the trailer, apparently. As far as stuff that wasn’t in the trailer: Vulture is rumored to come back, although it would be kinda weird since he has no beef with Spidey now. Mac Gargan showed up in Homecoming so he’s been rumored to show up as Scorpion. Mysterio being dead means he’s probably not happening, but if anyone can fake their death, it’s that guy. And then there’s rumors that Kraven will show up. Genuinely who knows, all I know is that it feels very forced, especially considering the MCU has had such a slow burn for assembling teams like this before. I think it’s kinda lame that we’d get two MCU villains who have both been effectively written off, and then we’d get a third (Scorpion or Kraven) who wouldn’t get their fair shake in a movie, since they have to share it with the legendary villains from two other franchises, who most audiences haven’t seen for a decade. Idk, it’s fine for a fan like me but it feels sloppy for the average moviegoer.

If it’s retro kingpin, they won’t be able to sell you a replacement leg by itself. I would boil it, see if it gets unstuck, then dry it off and stick it in the freezer for a minute or two. Then boil it again. Alternating temperatures can free up the joint sometimes.

I don't know. I had a bunch of villains at one point...mostly Spidey ones and two Dooms. I just don't like playing with them. My toys are mainly for posing on my desk, and I realized I really don't want Doom or Red Skull or Ultron on my desk because they're kinda scary.

I know it's not much of an explanation but look at it this way. In a sense this is the slowest burn in movie history, or at least super hero movie history. Even longer than Endgame. It's all Spidey villains from all the films we've seen since the 2000's. While I'm bummed we may not see some of these characters enter MCU proper we've still seen their effective stories and reasons for disliking Pete.

I'm also guessing Marvel wanted to take a stab at this sort of storyline before Sony went off half cocked and tried to do Sinister Six themselves, without Spidey. Which would be even more of a trainwreck than simply copying some aspects of OMD.

I like how organically developing 4-5 movies in the same continuity then doing a 6th with the Sinister Six is an utter impossibility. They have to do outlandish multiversal trash to have it even remotely work, and even then its basically cheating stealing from previous work. In a perfect world, Spider-man would have been an ongoing seasonal show with a $20-50 million budget per episode.

Yeah it sucks but I don't blame Sony or even Disney like some people do. Sony has the rights and wants to utilize it, but Marvel and the fans obviously want Spidey in the MCU. So we're stuck with things like this and constant new deals being done. It's not ideal but I try to look on the bright side. Without something like this we wouldn't have ever seen Dafoe or Milano back since they'd be too old or sadly gone by the time a Sinister Six movie organically rolled around. Also while I've liked the Spidey MCU films they've kind of been playing it safe. Hopefully NWH shakes it up nice and is fun for it.

I also really hope this film fully detaches Pete from Tony. Some hate that he was his mentor. I didn't mind it and it was one of those caveat's with working with Sony since they wanted a big name from the MCU to help push Spidey along. By now though he needs to be able to be his own person. I don't mind him asking Strange for help as long as he ultimately decides he needs to be himself.

The deluxe is more accurate to his appearance in Infintiy Gauntlet so it'll depend in what look you prefer.
The king Thanos head looks better on the Walmart Thanos though.

The Walmart one is technically a classic repaint of the original BAF one, his modern look. The Deluxe one is his classic outfit. He’s definitely a much better figure overall, and he’s comic accurate. Frankly, the Walmart one has garbage articulation in the hips due to the belt and the restriction of the leg range, and the collar floats too much. The new one is a lot better. Only issue is that you’re basically stuck with the semi-yelling head.

Use nail polish remover/acetone. Issue is, below the right pectoral, it has a small stain, which would be impossible to remove without stripping the paint too.

I worry about how acetone affects plastic though. As for the pec stain, that doesn't bother me because it looks more like shading. The red stain on the leg (which I assume is supposed to be blood) looks like mould growing in the plastic. I have a couple older figures with have had weird red splotches show up in the plastic after a few years.
