I think we've all been there at one point or another. Trying to juggle too many different scales, licenses, themes, things in general. I myself mostly stick to 1/6th, so I'm not tempted by all the Figmas and whatnot. There are some Mezcos that I want in 1/12, but it's nothing that I "need" or will drag me to collecting a whole new scale. My problem is that I feel that I'm spreading myself too thin. I'm planning far too many themed shelves in my mind based on various things I like. It runs up to about 300 figures, maybe 500. All of them wishlists yes, so they might never happen, but you get my point. HT will do all the Jedi and Sith at some point, that's a given, so they'll go in my SW shelf. The MCU X-Men will all get made. All the wizards and whatnot. Batman's Rogues in one way or another will get made eventually too. But the more I add the less "important" it feels. Alongside such big IPs and themes I have some "Movie Classics", like Vito from the Godfather or Rambo. I'm planning a Sci-Fi shelf that's torn between Classic Sci-Fi like Predator, Terminator, Alien, and general Cyberpunk (Matrix, Blade Runner, GitS, Marvel 2099). Then a Gothic Horror one and many others.
These are all hypothetical based on announced movies, POs and whatnot, so it's not like I'm 20K deep and feeling conflicted. But there's just so many things that I "like" or am nostalgic for, that I can't realistically buy it all. I want a Punisher, maybe a Moon Knight, but I'm feeling the need to get a Ghost Rider, Blade, Daredevil, etc, as well, just to have a Street/Dark Marvel shelf. And that's just the realistic 1/6th stuff. I'm not even going into the stuff I want to buy from vidya like Nintendo and all that.
How do you guys plan your collections? Do you stick with one or two themes and work around them? Do you just go balls deep in one property? I feel as if I'm making a mistake trying to build a sort of "museum" when I care only for about half the stuff in my to-buy lists.
