I always thought of Finster as a kindly old toy creator with no family that made Kaiju toys. Rita visited his store before Zedd destroyed the city he lived in as part of his conquest of his planet and bought out his entire stock of creations because she liked how evil they looked. When Zedd burnt the city to the ground, Rita had him spirited away and convinced Zedd to spare him by claiming he was a talented monster maker and can be of used to Rita in her service of Zedd.

Hence why Finster is loyal to Rita (she legit loves his work and saved his life) and why he helped her mindraped Zedd like she did in the wedding arc. Also him being amoral, in that like Akane in Gridman, Finster likes rooting for the bad guys, hence him making monsters for Rita without complaint and why Rita never hurt him, as she recognizes Finster's talent is one of a kind and irreplacable, hence never hurting him when his monsters fail.

Why the fuck would Goldar be spared? Though I guess there's no reason for Rita and Zedd to be spared either. Divatox was the only one who made any sense to spare since she was all but confirmed to have been Dimitria's twin sister who may have been kidnapped and brain washed like Karone. IIRC the explanation given for why Zedd and Rita got turned into humans was that their love for each other was real and true and that piece of goodness was enough to have the energy wave just turn them into humans and not kill them.

As for Goldar, you could make the case that the people who want Goldar to live believe the Zyuranger subplot about Goldar and Scorpina's relationship and their child that she had (which is born off-panel during the final arc in Zyurangers) carried over to Power Rangers in so far as Goldar loving Scorpina and vice versa and him surviving because of that

I think I'm good with Mighty Morphin zords. I loved the Legacy Dragonzord I thought it was perfect.

It was close but they fucked up the mouth/face. On the original toy you can't see the Fighting Mode face when it's in standard Dragonzord mode. but the Legacy just put the face on the bottom of the mouth. Also the diecast legs combined with the fact that they don't lock into place for Mega Dragonzord mode was very badly designed. I've love to see Zords without the diecast meme.

Different anon, but the comics actually had me with them until Shattered Grid. It was becoming increasingly obvious that the focus was rapidly turning more and more from "How can the Rangers overcome this great threat?" and more about turning Drakkon into an OC Donut Steel Misunderstood Woobie. And then, to top it all off, they fucking bungled the finale and made the Rangers more or less irrelevant to the arc's resolution. That left a really bitter taste in my mouth, and sadly, the comic has never been able to recover.

Maybe it's because I'm a sentai fan first who mainly likes PR as an alternate take on the thing I love, but the edgey'd up stuff just feels totally weird.

It's not specifically a problem that they come up with new stuff and new ideas, that part's able to be great, it's just that it all feels totally dissonant with the core of the franchise to me to have all this shit about like LORD DRAKKON AND THE EMPYREAL that doesn't really fit with the goofy fun sometimes a bit dark feel.

Also, which Sentai show do you think they will do after this one? Honestly, I don’t see them going back to Kirameger, or Lupinranger. Zenkaiger might be Hasbro will like due to all the nostalgia potential, but I doubt they’d keep the whole majority of the cast being robots part.

Either that or they will just keep Dino Fury going until a future Sentai show that is easier to market to the West

What's really dumb is they used Elsa's actress earlier in the season as Roxy's aunt and didn't use that as an opportunity to make it the same character and have her somehow get turned back into Elsa for the team-up so the Dino Thunder Rangers would at least have a reason to show up. Without any villain representation or returning actors they might as well have not even been there.

Dino Fury is getting two years and the movie is coming in 2023 so what comes after DF is a mystery at the moment. I can see it being one of three things though:

I'd say more so Chip not giving a shit about a season he didn't work on. Dino Charge was clearly highly favored with four physical returning cast members, 2 via voice over, and all the love the villains got. Meanwhile Kevin Duhaney was practically begging to come back only to get snubbed.

What's really weird is that Dimensions in Danger gave Dino Thunder more love than Grid Connection. Not just because it had two returning Rangers, but some of the finer details such as Tommy living in the same house in Reefside, wearing his Dino Bracelet, and using his invisibility power. None of those things were necessary, but they were nice nods which showed some care was put into acknowledging Tommy's time in Dino Thunder rather than focusing solely on his MMPR past. You'd think a triple dino team-up would have put at least some level of care into acknowledging one of those three teams and not just had them show up out of the blue with no fanfare.

I think a lot of the issues come from adapting the movie in Beast Morphers rather than Dino Charge. Had it been adapted during Dino Charge they would have had the full DC cast at their disposal and only had to worry about bringing back MMPR/DT characters. In this scenario I think they would have brought back Ethan to represent Dino Thunder. But with the Beast Morphers cast it was already so crowded for a 22 minute episode I could see why they didn't bother.

What are you basing that on? It took Tommy cycling through his powers to beat Dino Thunder Black Robo-Tommy. I took it to be similar to the original Megazord overwhelming Cyclopsis with mode changes. I'll say that he was a necessary evil for helping the comics get off the ground and accrue more attention and say what you about them but Shattered Grid was still one of the biggest things that happened to the franchise in a long ass time.
My problem is that he and his influence never goes away
He's involved in some form in the comics no matter what and I'm just waiting for when the comics can move on without going

Thoughts on his current involvement in Power Rangers? His new "insane" personality feels somewhat shallow to me. Talking to Sabba's head for example, it would help if we knew whether or not he has actually snapped. We know he's capable of prolonged deception and we know that he has already shown a willingness to hold off on picking a side until he knows who will win, but the alleged insanity needs addressing imo.

All of this. I was pretty sure they’d make him the Blue Omega Ranger and try to redeem him, but I don’t really keep up with the comics. I’m glad they didn’t do that though. He felt extremely heavy handed post-Shattered Grid, and I would honestly be more okay with it if he wasn’t an evil Tommy. Him being Tommy means his existence as more than a one-off villain is not very interesting.
Idk. I think they could’ve easily made a villain on par with Lord Zedd that was comic OC and used him as Drakkon’s role, once they introduced Drakkon to get the comic’s momentum going.

Drakkon is garbage. Evil Tommy is played the fuck out, and his costume design is atrocious. Fan art has been mashing Green and White Ranger together since the 90s, and Drakkon manages to somehow be a worse design than any of the ones I've seen from random autists. Combine that with the forced edgyness and power stealing, and he's just about the worst possible character Boom could have created because he's every terrible fan fiction trope merged into one massive pipe of shit.

I liked him when he was "evil Tommy from another dimension" and a simple one off (or occasionally recurring) villain. I liked it when he came back in Shattered Grid, though I thought it was way too soon to bring him back, as we'd only had the "Finster on his own with the time bomb monsters" arc between his two appearances. I was firmly in Camp Fans of Drakkon until the final third of SG and especially the final issue, where it became blatantly obvious they had no interest in making Drakkon a villain for the Rangers to go up against and defeat, but rather that he was Kyle Higgins' Special Misunderstood Cinnamon Roll OC Donut Steel. The Rangers didn't beat him in the end (and the comic came out on the franchise's 25th anniversary, mind you), he lost because he had some confidence issues - Which the Rangers didn't even manipulate; he essentially defeated himself. Ever since then, he's been a disgustingly overpowering presence in the comics, either being directly involved in plots or affecting things indirectly (like the Omega Rangers' mission being cleaning up Drakkon's mess from Shattered Grid). I read this comic to read about the MMPR and the Evil Space Aliens, not Drakkon and whatever new OC Rangers Boom thinks up this week. Well... I DID read it. I've since stopped.

It still boggles my mind that Dimensions In Danger wasn't Drakkon breaking into the TV reality as part of Shattered Grid. It's the one part of the franchise that DIDN'T take part in it and it was the most important. Instead we get "Lord Draven" who wants to break the walls between realities, steal Ranger powers, and create his own army of evil Ranger-powered soldiers, and also there was an evil duplicate Tommy who has a big highlight fight against the real deal. The episode is SO Shattered Grid it's insane. What was the problem? Could they not whip up a live action Lord Drakkon suit in time? They already had one from that live action Shattered Grid trailer. Did Jason David Frank not want to play two roles? He already played Tommy and Robo-Tommy in the episode. What the actual fuck?

Kyle said in a podcast when issue 24 was released that he was currently scripting issue 28, so the books are only really 4 months behind. That would place the first issue of Shattered Grid being written in October of 2017. As you can see above they were shooting Dimensions in Danger in May, and were probably writing/planning it at the beginning of 2017.

Sledge and Poisandra are some of the only villains in recent years that I've genuinely enjoyed, so she's a great addition. She's got a fun, bright and colorful design, and she's the game's first real "goofy" character. Nice choice.

I passed on Titanus when he was cheap last year because I've only combined Megazord with Dragonzord like twice and display them separately. I also wouldn't have room for Titanus since my PR shelf also has the Thunderzords on display with the Dinozords (fuck the Ninjazords, I never was a fan of them or Season 3 in general). Plus my toy funds were a little ridiculous at the time and I couldn't really add another large purchase like that at short notice. I feel like I fucked up but getting first two sets for so cheap balances it out a bit.

The actual, original Megazord has never gotten reissued. The Megazords from Bandai we got in the last 10+ years were a new mold initially seen in 2010. When it did come out it was actually a poor seller, unfortunately. A lot of us saw it clearance for $15. I got two extras to give to friends for that reason. When it got the Legacy collection rerelease with metal, it also shelfwarmed, then a year later they released the Dragonzord and it jumped prices on the Legacy. I believe they reissued it one more time, it lingered for a few months, then jumped up again.

Sadly all this stuff is locked up in Bandai's vaults if it still exists these days. I'd love for Bandai Japan to reissue old Sentai DXs.

Thats the thing, Hasbro can't. Bandai kept all their molds when they sold to habsro, which is why they redid the old fliphead figures and made a whole new Megazord. We'll only see the old stuff if Bandai Japan does it.

Why did they keep the molds if they’re worthless to Bandai? It’s not like they can use the PR branding at all. I can understand not wanting to sell something you made from scratch, but it would’ve meant more money from Hasbro, I would think. You can do animate anything with a cartoon, but even children, subconciously, know that what they are looking at is not real. But with Power Rangers, it's not "real", exactly, but it does physically exist. You can't reach out and touch what you are seeing, but if you were standing beside the person in the monster costume, you could touch them.

I think Pumpkin Rapper is the better of the two. Closer in scale to the Rangers and better accessories. Being able to outfit the Putties with pumpkin heads or use them on the Rangers is real nice. Wish there were a way to get more of those pumpkins without buying another Pumpkin Rapper, but he's gotten cheap enough that I went for it, so now I can have an army of 6 pumpkin Putties along side my Pumpkin Rapper. If he drops even lower I might buy a third so I can have some pumpkin headed Rangers as well.

I'm thinking about selling some of my lightning collection stuff. I regret getting in to it as deep as I did. The only ones I actually care about are Jason, Tommy, Leo, Trent, and Adam.
