The armored guy is from the Hammer of Steel set. The red chic is from the Saluk white flame set.

I have had no issues (own close to 100 figs.) but some folks say their figures have broken at the joints.

Eligor is cool just beware his tail falls off easily. The gargoyle is pretty plain. I'd go with the Elf Ranger, any of the elf females, the orcs are based. Dragon priest is great as well.

Thanks, he was supposed to resemble/be inspired by Counter-Strike's GSG-9. What can I do/change to make him look more like them? I was planning to paint his helmet in the German camo.

I’d say painting the helmet would set you straight - makes it immediately identifiable; I think that look is pretty much the iconic GSG9 one. The vest looks like a great match to that pic. Nice job overall.

No problem at all, that’s a great looking figure. What’s it from btw? I’m really new to 1/18 in case you guys couldn’t tell; last figures I bought at that size were the ‘98 PotF Star Wars figures. I bought my dad the Boss Fight Zorro and was checking it out and was blown away by the quality and how nice these newer 4” figs are.

Also, back to your figure, the upside of commonality of kit for the euro CT units is that this could also pass as a SEK or Cobra trooper.

Man, it's been a good day for 1:18 stuff for me.

Just filled out the MTF:Nam Backer kit. This freakin line can drain my bank account so fast it's scary. Their shop is just a black hole I can get lost in for hours just planning out different potential squads and units to build. Their historical stuff is cool and all, but I kinda fear the day they go back into quasi-future military stuff as that will just rip my wallet right in half.

I also managed to find a pile of old True Hero vehicles at work. A bit beat up, some are straight up broken, but overall it was a pretty good haul. Off the top of my head I got the big abrhams (though most of the wheels are broken), the apache, the dual rotor transport chopper, a couple of the smaller vehicles and my favorite find, a mostly in tact transport truck. All of em need a good bath, but most are in good shape.

On top of that, I got my Halo figure three pack in, doubling my Halo team to a total of six, three Spartans, three Marines. I want to grab more marines and I'll probably grab another MC or two and just use em as super soldiers or something. Sadly all their guns are just awful, every single one I've gotten is just bent and warped...so I'll be placing an order with MGR for more Halo rifles at some point.

.....I ordered my PGV girls off BFS, thinking they were a bit cheaper and they'd probably ship them before BBTS as they always get their stuff out last. Guess that was dumb on my part lol. I spent on 120-130usd on mine, bought directly from china and went through hoops to import it

That's a full on dragon, and that other thing has a saddle, and will most likely be 1:18. My only concern is if a t rex is $200 how mochi is a fucking dragon?

that would be cool. they just really need to make the articulated creature, saddles and mounts can be done by a half decent customizer/scratch builder/3d print. the creature (dragon or dino) part is much harder to scratchbuild

Since we're talking about Kickstarters (Cyber dinos and dragons DOES sound amazing), apparently there's one launching sometime this month that plans to bring back the old Red Shadow's Roboskull starship. It's basically a Tie Fighter with a skull that has gatling guns for eyes and from the teasers it looks pretty amazing. Interviews confirm that it's built for 1:18 scale with a two seater cockpit, though you can switch in a one seater and use it for 1:12 if you're into that.

They seem to be working with MGR and other indy toy makers, so it all seems legit. But I don't really know much more info about it then what was already mentioned. I do know it'll go well with my Joytoy Hell Grim Reapers, as I've been looking to get them a ride for a while now.

Also, the M.A.R.V. is apparently still a thing and should be coming out within the next few weeks, if anyone wants a beefy armored 4x4.

I bought one to check it out, I immediately bought another. Quality is really good. Looks far better in hand than acid rain. Hands down the best 1/18 females there are. I had to combine a virginie lower and a lin upper to get a non-fetishy figure (virginie upper top has nipples on it for ffs and the lin lower body is a school girl skirt body so I combined 2 to get 1 decent figure)

Fuck man, this sucks. This is basically gore for /toy/ btw. Anyone else experience their Acid Rain figures... I dunno, disintegrate? (pun intended, why not). Pic is my Speeder Mk. II. Had it since 2016 maybe. Moved out awhile back and left it literally sitting in my old room's glass cabinet in vehicle mode really. So on a home visit, I decided to switch it to mecha mode for some posing feng shui, and the hip joint of the Speeder just snapped. Rubber materials just crumble. The side mirrors, the seatbelts. Even the soldier's vest. Then tried moving the soldier and his limbs just break off. The material it's made from turned gummy, kind of like how erasers feel.

What the fuck could have caused this? I know this looks like
severe case of hamhands, but I swear it's not. This model was not this fragile when I got it so I'm thinking there's something wrong with how it's stored or the material it's made from has a short lifespan. Share your thoughts if you wouldn't mind, was really hoping for this figure to be somewhat of an investment. Guess that's not happening.

Yeah the one time I bought acid rain figures, one of them was disintegrated in the box. Pic says I took it in 2016 and IIRC there was some issues with the factories at that time.

this is exactly why I hated the oritoy acid rain era. same shit happened to my acid rains. they have since switched to a new manufacturer, toys alliance.

I sold all my oritoys and stuck to toys alliance.
so far no reports of toys alliance versions breaking apart, but we won't know until 2-3 years later

acid rain world is made by a designer named kit lau, he partnered with the company oritoy to get his designs produced into toys. oritoy era acid rain are the ones you see breaking.

he now switched and partnered with toys alliance, a much bigger company with more lines/experience under their belt. annex 2179 is a new brand also designed by kit lau and produced by toys alliance, it shares a lot of the same engineering with acid rain world but has a different theme. acid rain world is ww2/3 with some post apoc elements while annex 2173 is sci-fi cyberpunk.

when acid rain switched from oritoy to toys alliance they changed to better joints and remade the moulds - that means toys alliance figures are an all new sculpt. time will tell if they will also breakdown like oritoy but so far so good

heat, not humidity, is the biggest problem.
Humidity is only a problem if your shit smells. Electronics and metallics (like DVDs/CDs/HDDs) in general are the only things that really benefit from low-humidity.

Soft plastics tend to lost their plasticity fast because of heat, as they have a lot of plasticizers that will off gas and those plasticizers that are escaping the plastic is why the plastic has become fragile and is snapping off.

It's time to invest in AC, even a portable one in the room where you keep your collection will work. AC also helps with humidity. You really need to keep shit under 80° if you want your toys to last. Even hard plastics will benefit, as they're susceptible to the same problems if a little longer to manifest.
If you already have AC.... I'm now afraid to open up my boxes where i keep my acid rain figures. It's only been a year since i checked out my AR figures, but i have kept a few of my newer ones (from Ori Toys) constantly out.

I'll be honest, I was always a bit confused by the whole Acid Rain situation as well, but this very simply clears up all the confusion. I didn't jump on the line when it first came out due to complaints about said gumminess, and now I'm really glad I didn't. As far as I know, most, if not all, of my AR guys are TA made so less worries about them crumbling away!

Acid Rain is pretty solid. The OriToy figures sometimes had stiff ratchet knees which was easy to ham hand if you weren’t careful. The mechs were also kind of easy to break if the joints were too stiff but once you broke them in they were just fine. I have a Marine who’s knees are as smooth as a TA era figure because I just always play with him. A lot of people didn’t like the rubber hands but I prefer them. The only gumminess I’ve ever encountered is on a 1st Gen Sand Infantry guy who came like that second hand. Then came the Agurts Sand Infantry reissues which had less impressive paint aps overall and the paint on the hands were prone to flaking off. With a lot of handing this was always the case but it was quite noticeable on the reissue. Shortly afterwards they went to Toys Alliance which overall are great. The downside is that the hands are now plastic which means they stretch out with over use and I’ve even had two crack at the fingers. The paint aps are also less impressive and that dirty wash that’s a signature of the line rubs off super easily with TA figures. With overuse you’ll eventually wear them clean. All in all some of the finest figures in the scale and light years ahead of Joy Toy in terms of durability.

Gumminess isn't a real problem, unless you're some tactilephobe. The figures are too small to be affected by warping from just standing around, or even in cool poses.
Honestly, it's largely beneficial because im not really afraid of them breaking from falling or forcing a joint, unlike harder plastics (joytoys takes this to extreme fragility).

I've bought more than a few Ori ARs since 2015, including the mechs and have had no problem.
I've also bought the Alliance stuff and they're actually a little less quality feeling. Oh, and paint rub. Nothing to be upset about though, as i still plan on buying more.

I think the issue people have had with their AR figures breaking is just from heat problems.

The figures themselves swap out bits just fine, if you're super worried, just heat up the figure with hot water/hair dryer. They're not super fragile, much sturdier feeling then Joytoy, but about on par with MTF figures. They can survive a few limb poppings no problem.

Don't have any experience with him directly, but all of the Joytoy stuff I've bought has been awful. Horrible tolerances, bad paint app QC, poorly thought out engineering, rachets so tight it feels like they are (and they have) shearing themselves apart. The human figures are fine, if not a bit weirdly articulated because of the balljoint placement, but the mecha are awful. Been meaning to sell mine for months.

I was so close to ordering the Battletoads, but saw all the bad press. I’ve got the Barnyard Commandos and Madballs on order from BBTS, so that takes care of that risk, but that company sounds like a nightmare.

Yea also did the original 4 GIGN crew. Was completing the SAS crew before I stopped: I Had finished Sledge and Smoke but i still got everything primed to one day assemble and paint Thatcher and Mute. Also ripped the ingame models and 3D printed their heads so gotta eventually replace them as well.

Yea i just stopped working on them since I had other projects that caught my interest more like those Dark Souls garage kits that were talked about a few years back and Warhammer 40k; also my interest for Siege has kinda gone down with the recent operator releases. I don't remember the head i was going to use for Fuze but I do recall before 3D printing his ingame model head that it was going to take alot of sculpting work. Like i said before, i still gotta repaint Sledge's new printed head and assemble Thatcher and Mute but hopefully i can regain my interest to finish at least the original 4 teams since that was my original plan before.

For the SAS Gasmasks before I started 3D printing them I used the following for each member:

Sledge: Custom casted head either from avacslab or vortiouscustoms. Sledge's head is propbably the hardest since there isn't any gasmask in 1:18 scale that looked exactly like his, so there was alot of heavy modification I had to do.

Smoke: Also a custom casted head from avacslab or vortiouscustoms, it's pretty much a modified acid rain head.

Mute: MGR Gasmask + 2 MGR RPK Drum mags (filters) + GI Joe Airtight's Head

Thatcher: GI Joe Pit Commando Gas Mask + GI Joe Airtight's Head

Thatcher's mask also required some sanding and extra sculpting.

God damn, that thing looks to be the size of an actual skull. For it's price and size, it's actually disappointing it only fits two 1:18 figures. It looks freaking amazing though, but way more expensive then I was hoping for.

I'll probably get the KS exclusive version at the very least, but that's a big pill to swallow, especially right before not only Thanksgiving, but the end of the MTF:Nam backer kit period too.

I've backed tons of Kickstarters before, including a lot of Marauder ones (like the Nam one they just finished), and only had one successful Kickstarter not deliver. From what I can tell, most toy Kickstarters usually end up with something to show for it, and even if the figure isn't the greatest thing ever, it's at least decent.

This one however has a really solid foundation and a lot of big names involved, so I wouldn't worry too much about something going wrong. They already have a physical model to show off, which is huge. It's being run by former and current toy industry professionals (including a guy who was involved in the original Action Man line), and it's working along side other big, trust worthy names. It's also already fully funded, which is always a huge bonus to encouraging more people to get involved, especially when many of the stretch goals add accessories to the main product.

If you any least bit interested in this thing, I'd suggest backing it now as the prices always go up after the item hits the main market. The price....and size....of the thing are a bit more then I personally was hoping for, but it's just such a freakin METAL toy, I can't not get at least one.

Am I the only one interested in that new Vintage Collection Cantina set that just came out? Unlike a lot of the other Star War Wall diorama sets, that one has a lot of little accessories that really bring it some life. It's also probably the best one to get two of, especially if you can wrangle up some extra tables and chairs to fill out the place.

The rebel set is also pretty cool. Though once again the VC figures just have the worst hips. Anyone know if those giant helmets come off? They'd be some good generic citizens without them.

Funny enough, I agree with both of these posts. It's a shame Hasbro isn't continuing it's line of new, added articulation ME 1:18 figures, because the last few they released were amazing. Stalker is probably one of the best 1:18 figures I own currently, and I collect pretty much every line. If they were to continue making new figures...and more importantly, new vehicles...in this scale, I'm sure they'd be right among the best figures of the scale, as they usually are.

But on the other hand, I really don't need Snake Eyes version 305 or Duke #720, and if the Joe line were to continue, that's pretty much exactly what we'd get. It wouldn't be Hasbro picking up where they left off from their previous 1:18 lines, it would be them starting all over again, with the same core characters getting even more incrementally OG outfits, yet still not being exact enough to satisfy those hard core fans. I doubt they'd go balls crazy like the did with some of the PoC/30th/Later Retaliation wave figures though, which is sad because those off the wall updates were probably some of the best of the line.

Truth be told, I just want Hasbro to make more Joe vehicles. Hasbro almost always makes fantastic 1:18 vehicles, and it would be amazing to see the Joe's rides get as much love as some of the Vintage Collection stuff.

As for the helmet it’s from the Omanga CQC pack, comes with two die-cast blades and a head+helmet combo. I really like them, issued them to my squad and decided to give the head to the Reborn Trooper cuz it matched his colors best.

As someone who has had stuff manufactured in China for the past 5 years or so, the packaging really doesn't prove anything, as i would probably confuse those boxes for my own.
My company doesn't even make toys.

The fact that guy has even has prototypes means that he already gave China the vast majority of the funds he got from Kickstarter, if not all of it. China doesn't make shit without you giving them money and sometimes 2-4x the amount that they originally quoted for you.

If you really want to claim that guy's a fraud, you'll need to claim that those are all Made In America handscooped resin figures and he knows enough about how cheapass China is about packaging that he faked the way they like to package shit.
If he stopped production years ago after getting all those samples, he'd probably have maybe 10-20k left at most. If he got in over his head at that point, i don't really see the point in lying shit was still coming out, unless he's like 18 years old. It's very easy to blame China for any hitches, especially because we've had companies with years of experience releasing products getting fucked over, like 4 Horsemen.

So if he kept on saying stuff was still getting made, i'd believe him, because he'd have blamed china much earlier if he wanted to keep the vast majority of the KS cash.

I love the Annex as well. They have a different feel from Acid Rain that’s hard to describe. I agree as someone who deals with Chinese merchandisers for a toy company right now. The number of delays for product in a major toy company can be up to 60 days right now just to get the stuff from china to a USA port (not to mention the fuckhuge backup right now in USA ports, extending delays and with no resolution in sight for the near future )for stuff that has already gone through all the stages of development. I can't imagine what it's like right now for Indie toy designers.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to best display 1:18 stuff? Especially with vehicles and the like?

I’ve been a six inch fag for the longest time. And displaying is easy for those. Just put them in semi-dynamic poses that fit the character and create a line-up.

But, I’ve really gotten into the WCT Halo stuff recently, and have been having a hard time figuring out what best to do with them. My first thought, was to create small dioramas in my display space. But that obviously takes up a lot of room and hasn’t been as satisfying as I was hoping it might be. Is it just a matter of cutting down the amount of figures displayed in one area at once? What do you all tend to do?

- jacket from Indiana Jones Mutt
- arms from the black blank that’s in ARW Luggans

Sometimes I stick Tim’s head on it but right now it’s on the body in the left

The War Correspondent set, Kaleb, and the Civet Aegis make for great civilian kit bashing

Based on what I saw last night these aren't an 'All or Nothing' any figure that gets over 500 orders will get made.

Apart from those pictured there are 3 more in gold lame, one in gold that looks like Jackie Chan, a general in uniform and a modern uniform Redwing
