The new coomer Marvel Legends style toy company, LooseCollector Collectibles just put out a video announcing they're releasing figures based on Dynamite Comics characters: Vampirella, Red Sonja, and Purgatori. And they announced a deluxe Tarna from Heavy Metal.
Their previous figures include a Coffin Comics/Chaos Comics, Lady Death figure, and a Hellwitch figure with actual topless breasts.
Video announcement.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ry7GPa7Hc4U As with their Lady Death figure, all these new ones will be made to scale with your Marvel Legends figures, and similar to Super7's model these are made to order collector figures, so they will be expensive.

Crimson Commander !!uoqqXVkn8aK
Here's Purgatori. She's a character that Dynamite bought when Chaos Comics went out of business. She's an ancient vampire queen and rival of Lady Death. So this gives you someone for Lady Death to fight.
Crimson Commander !!uoqqXVkn8aK
Vampirella. She's an old Warren Comics character who's had a few different origins. Her original was that she was an alien from a world of vampire people, known as Drakulon. But her home world suffered a catastrophe, when it's water, which was made of blood all dried up, and she came to earth. On earth Vampi was a good vampire who battled monsters and dated the son of a vampire hunter. She's also had crossovers with Lady Death, so yet another character to pair up with the other figures.
Crimson Commander !!uoqqXVkn8aK
Red Sonja- A former Marvel Comics/ Conan the Barbarian spin-off character that Dynamite managed to acquire. Hopefully LooseCollectors might one day do a Conan.
Crimson Commander !!uoqqXVkn8aK
Their deluxe Tarna from Heavy Metal. She was featured in both Heavy Metal magazine and the animated movie of the same name.

>>9344880 She looks fantastic, but for some reason I'd feel weird for buying her despite never actually knowing or caring much about her fiction. Her and Lady Death have always been characters I saw on the fringes of stuff I was into, but never got into them myself. But they're still both pretty iconic characters as far as I'm concerned.
>>9344882 This is an instant buy for me, I've always been a sucker for a chick with a nice axe.
>>9344884 I'm kinda torn on Tarna.
On the one hand, I always loved the Heavy Metal movie and she's a pretty iconic cult character. On the other hand, I always felt her character and character design were pretty boring. The red armor bits are cool and all, but it always felt to me like she got half dressed and forgot all the important armor. And even as a horny teenager that never really sat right with me. Her magic sword was always kinda simple as well. If she was a stand alone release I might have wanted to jump in on her, but the fact she's packed with her doofy chickendactyl just raises her price past what I would feel comfortable spending.
>>9344954 >>9344956 She punisher is kinda of cool though, not as iconic as Lady Death or Vampirella, but the skull face paint and Johnny's halloween costume look good on her.
Man, this line just seems to be exploding at the seams. I heard Lady Death turned out great so here's hoping they can keep up the quality, especially with the work load they're building for themselves.

>>9348935 I think the Julie Strain character from Heavy Metal 2000 is a much more compelling design than Taarna.
Anonymous
>>9348950 I agree with the design comments as there's just more to it. Sadly the movie itself was just....not good. Like not even cheesy B movie not good, it was trying way too hard to be edgey where the original just seemed to do it naturally.
But I'm sure they'll get to her eventually.
Anonymous
>>9348999 Oh yeah. The movie was trash, but she's just an iconic video store image for me. Like burned into my teenage brain twenty-ish years ago.
Anonymous
>>9348950 >>9349007 >>9348999 Sad thing is the comic it was based/planned from is also absolute trash. Like you'd think at least Bisley doing the artwork for it would mean it'd be good eye candy, but it somehow looks way worse than the stuff he did for 2000AD years before and the Heavy Metal stuff he's done since.
Crimson Commander !!uoqqXVkn8aK
>>9348935 I'd recommend the Lady Death figure, I have her and I quite like her. She's lonely without having more figures in this line for her to battle. As for Vampirella, I'd really recommend the link I posted above to check out her comic magazine from the 1960's. It's primarily a horror anthology book, sort of like how Heavy Metal magazine is an anthology book, but each issue generally featured one story starring Vampirella. Although in the first issue she's more of a horror hostess who introduces stories and is written out of character compared to everything that follows from issue 2 on. Issue 2 is really more like her real story.
Anonymous
>>9349007 I know that feeling anon, all I know of most of these characters is how they were plastered all over the comic stores I frequented as a kid. Like, I didn't know anything about them, but I knew they were somehow important.
>>9349033 I don't think anything with "2000" tacked on to it's title was actually any good. Hell, the whole early part of that decade was just filled with awful things that tried way too hard to be "hip" and "cool" and "the future", where they just ended up ruining things they were trying to update.
>>9349061 I'll definitely go through the Vampirella stuff, just to try and learn more about her. I'll be honest, I'm not too big on horror to begin with (hence why I never read her comics before) but she's such an iconic character I think it'd be worth reading at least some of her stuff.
Crimson Commander !!uoqqXVkn8aK
>>9349211 Vampirella is more of a monster themed superhero. She's an alien from another world that resembles Earth vampires, and on her world the water is made of blood, but her world dies out when all the blood dries up and she travels to Earth to escape.

Anonymous
Anonymous
>>9365875 >calling them Marvel legends tier is selling them short They literally have the same or worse than Marvel Legends engineering. It's entirely accurate. Being Marvel Legends quality but sexier than Hasbro and Disney would allow doesn't mean they're worth twice as much.
Anonymous
>>9365851 The engineering is similar in complexity but there's a lot more subtle paint and if the final products look anything like these product photos, the finish and QC of the final plastic is much better. One of ML's biggest issues is the plastic always ends up unfinished looking.
My guess is if Hasbro released these with the QC these will have, they'd have to cost at least $40. LooseCollector is a way smaller company making way fewer of these so I'm fine spending the $30 to make up the difference.
Anonymous
>>9365918 >the articulation engineering is similiar to ML >therefore the sculpt, paint applications, and overall production quality are marvel legends tier Maybe wait for an in hand review saying the plastic is gummy and the paint apps aren't fine enough before you go making all these assumptions.
Anonymous
>>9366567 Exactly. ML engineering is not bad for articulation, especially with the Figuarts hips and pinless joints in Classified. But, the QC is still $20 QC. The paint is often misaligned, the limbs are sometimes warped, and the surface of the plastic can be really fucked up looking.

>>9366698 >double knee joints >full ankle range >near double joint range in a single joint (better looking) elbow >legs can nearly do the splits sideways and go all the way forward Really all that's missing is excessive (sculpt breaking) ab articulation, a hinge in the neck, and maybe butterfly joints. Seeing as none of these characters are Kamen Riders, I'm fine with them not being able to do kung-fu and instead preserving the appearance. Excess articulation is useless if no normal person would ever put the character in that pose.
Anonymous
>>9366713 >Seeing as none of these characters are Kamen Riders, I'm fine with them not being able to do kung-fu and instead preserving the appearance. Anonymous
Quoted By:
Also you completely failed to make an argument for that being better than ML, or worth $50+. That's bare minimum acceptable articulation, which is fine, but not for the price. And I understand they're a smaller company so it's gonna be more expensive, but understanding the logic and believing they're worth that much are two different things.
Anonymous
>>9366778 Sorry, I didn't realize every toy had to have the articulation of a $120 Sentinel robot.
Half the appeal of these to anyone who would even consider buying them is they're nearly naked comic women. Adding a bunch of joints you don't need to match the source material poses just makes them less accurate and more cut up looking.

So far the reviews that I have seen, no one have mention that the plastic used feels cheap, gummy or fragile, and people seems to be pleased with how the figure is painted
The only complain could be the price, but deciding if the figure is worth that price is up for each of us

for $60 a figure and all about the look and coom factor i feel like loosecollector shouldve gave figures in the current lineup pinless double jointed arms and legs like the newer generation of female marvel legends
Anonymous
>>9377949 It depends on the range, I think. You can get near double joint range out of a single joint, and for bare thin arms a single joint will always look better than a double joint. Look at Classified Lady Jaye. I love that figure, but her elbows don't look great.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>9378025 While talking about G.I. Joe, the Retro Stalker figure has single jointed elbows but they have enough clearance to get a pretty deep 45 degree bend. So not only are they super functional, but they look fantastic as there's minimal sculpt breakage.
Single hinge joints can be just as good as double hinge, they just need to be molded the right way.
