>>9410211>it's about who is the actual main character of the seriesUhh, no, it was never about that. This entire argument was about Morrigan being "the face of the series," starting with this poster here
>>9403096 And "face of the series " literally means "who is better known." Demitri might be the main character, but if you polled a set of 10000 gamers, I bet barely anyone would even know who he was compared to Morrigan.
His exposure level simply isn't up there. Outside of the Darkstalkers games, Demitri has only appeared in relatively lesser-known and less-popular games, like SvC Chaos and CFE. Whereas Morrigan has been in much more popular and well-known titles, like Marvel vs. Capcom, CvS/CvS2, Tatsunko vs. Capcom, Puzzle/Pocket Fighter, etc. She has also cameoed in a wide range of games, from Dead Rising to Monster Hunter to Street Fighter to Onimusha. She's Capcom's de facto choice whenever they want to reference Darkstalkers, and almost like a mini-mascot the way they use her sometimes.
>According to Kotaku's Mike Fahey in 2012, "Morrigan Aensland from Capcom's Darkstalkers is one of the most widely depicted characters in video games. >According to Kotaku's Brian Ashcraft in 2012, "Since debuting in 1994's Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors, Morrigan Aensland has become one of gaming's most iconic characters. >Morrigan is widely seen as the most iconic character of Darkstalkers, arguably even more than the franchise itselfYeah, yeah, these quotes are from Wikipedia, and Kotaku a shit too, but goddamn, multiple times in the same article there are references to how absurdly popular she is. I didn't even paste all the gaming magazine polls she placed in, from Japan and all around the world. There is little doubt in my mind that she absolutely blows away Demitri in terms of recognizability and popularity.
