Well this is fucking news to me. Is this worth getting hyped over? Grew up on the original 4 seasons and I remember trying to get excited for Savers but it lost me with the alternate Agumon Digivolutions and no cable in my bedroom back in the day.

I remember having all kinds of figures as a kid, one of my favorites being a Rapidmon I got from a friend at school. Been so long since I've had a Saturday morning style anime to get into, I hope this is good.

don't think it will ever be possible, unless the band has some form of updater, use app to transfer update to band, connect dim to update, still very unlikelly, because it would open the possibility of old bands being updated to the new firmware, something bandai doesn't want people to know its possible(if it is)

Got my Digivice V today. First thing I noticed was the menus had larger icons, and English underneath them. Stats screen is still in Japanese however. The backup icon is now a Storage Capsule. To access sleep mode you need to hold down both buttons, and your Digimon goes to sleep. I transferred one of my Digimon from the App to the V with no issues at all.

Also an aside, I know the Digimon HUD (or Tamagotchi for that matter) with the slow scrolling icons is classic, but isn't it time for Digimon to embrace a smoother and faster interface (assuming it isn't my imagination, feel free to tell me I'm wrong)? I was looking at a video of someone messing around with one and everything seemed so stuttery and slow, and it looked like it moved just like the Frontier Digivice I had when I was younger.

Skintone might make it worse but plenty of lightskinned people had troubles as well. Its just bad overall.

Idk specifically if the HR is better.
But allegedly the "are you wearing it at all" measurements have been tweaked to the extent of overkill so Vitals pretty much only go up.

so this is interesting, it seems like digimon just won't go to sleep on their own now. I thought sleep mode was in case you wanted a break or early bed, but I was surprised gammamon was still awake at almost 11pm. I swapped him with an impmon I had fridged in the app. Impmon was awake on the vb, gammamon was asleep on the app. Fascinating.

I haven't put them to sleep on the vb yet (I'm not the anon who posted how to enter sleep mode, so hey, thanks to them for that info). It's pure waking hours for these boys.
I'm curious to see what happens in the morning. If waking up is a manual task too, this version of the vb will be an insane difference from the first version.

I decided to RTFM and yeah, digimon on the digivice-v do not go to sleep on their own. There's no comment about waking up on their own, but it seems to heavily imply they won't wake up until you wake them up. With the digivolution timer still counting down while sleeping, this is life changing for using the vb.

They don't sleep on their own, so putting them to bed gives you time to not need to wear the v. You can keep them awake, but vitals will drain when you take it off. Storage doesn't need sleep, it's a fridge like the app.

So here's a question-- is it better to stick the 'mon in the app overnight if I'm aiming for a specific evolution, ie one that requires x number of battles, vitals, etc? That seems to be the only way to freeze the evolution timer, now.

Definitely, unless you know you'll have the time to get what you need when you're awake. The relationship between the v and the app has more defined purpose now. You could put a digimon on the v in sleep mode to run out the clock and not worry about accidentally getting more vitals/trophies than you need for the digivolution you want, and the app can freeze their countdown to give you more time to get what you need for the more demanding forms.

Thank you. If I put a mon to sleep and take off the bracelet for 24 hours, does that protect them from the 24 hour kill limit? Or does 24 hours without the bracelet, regardless if they're asleep or not, kill them and I'd need to put him in storage/in the app/shut off the watch to protect him? I'm assuming the latter and sleep mode is strictly to protect vitals.
Side note: apparently I suck at this because it's been over an hour and Curimon still hasn't evolved.

I think most of us have only had the v for maybe 12 hours at most, so that isn't really confirmable based on what's been talked about so far. But, I'm leaning towards yes they're safe, since it seems like the digimon won't wake up on their own and won't die in sleep.

Who else feels like the V-pets have a lot of potential but it is utterly wasted?
Me and my GF got a pair and we just stopped playing with them in about a week. The, what I hesitate to call, gameplay loop of just feeding them, cleaning their poop and a few other small minuscule things is really boring and if you screw up a evolution line, you have to wait days to try again. Even if you get it, the payoff is... minimal because of the sprite limitations.
Personally it would be nice if they would create something that worked like a cross between the V Pets and Digimon World games, but made portable and focused on raising the Mons (aka no story). But I doubt it will ever come about.

I'm in the middle on that. On one hand, I do think V-pets need to evolve and that the ver X. is a step in the right direction making them more like mini-RPGs rather than just pet simulators. But on the other hand, I think part of their appeal is their simplicity and that adding too much to them could ruin them.

There really needs to be breeding mechanics added. The Tamagotchi Meets/On got it right in this regard. When it comes to Digimon, breeding different mons would allocate certain stat distribution/abilities and burning 2 Digimon to create 1 stronger Digimon would create a gameplay loop that doesnt feel like its going nowhere. This would all lead to the people breeding better Digimon being higher in ranking rather than just whoever can grind the mindnumbing battle system the longest. Even include "marriages" in app so people can interact with each other.

02 is kinda trash, but if you want to continue the story, thats up to you.

Season 3 "Tamers" is the mandatory watch. Entirely new universe, darker themes, more growth, better animation.

Third party ones are a thing. I have one of these, a full on-model version of him, and a Hackmon figure around the same size as a moncolle. Those of course would be harder to find, but they exist and are obtainable. I also used to own a pretty nice poseable Hackmon but my dog destroyed it.

For every dim before gammamon, I hadn't seen a single double miss or collision hit, but with all the fighting I've been doing to train the gammamon lines, it's a rare occurrence that I'll win by getting the enemy hp to zero. you can have infinite mons, just put the dim on an empty bracelet and transfer to the app, you can only transfer him from the app to the VB if you have the impulse city dim. You can't train mons on the app, they wont evolve

Its a freebie just for app stuff, as soon as you plug in Impulse city, a different one will hatch on the watch.

Excercise level is pretty much how active you were right before transferring your mon to the app, it does nothing and doesnt matter.

Once you beat lv 15, it will unlock that evo for any mon that has it as a potential evo.

There is a tier list (for raids) but I dont have it, in short DP is accuracy and is most important.
High tier digis off the top of my head include imperialdramonPM ancientsphinxmon skullmammothmon, and plesiomon
Check humulos for a sortable list.

For raids always use attack chips because damage done directly translates to points gained.
Evasion is very helpful, DEF is optional, reboot is worthless.

At those price points I would just get the Digivice V through Amazon JP, anon. It will cost you the same but Amazon will guarantee it if you happen to get a dud.

That said, I ordered my VB ver. Special through a Malaysian retailer on eBay, got a dud, and they were kind enough to replace the bracelet charging only the shipping for the replacement.

eBay is hit and miss so personally, I use it when an "official" retailer or importer doesn't have what I'm looking for. Hope that helps.

It's an annoyance, and I guess they didn't want to engineer it with separate arms and arm blades, which is too bad. But it's affordable, screen accurate, and looks like a solid figure otherwise. It should be able to do all the main poses, as shown in the promo pics. But not being able to stand in a neutral pose without the inner part of the claws showing or without the elbow facing inward is pretty stupid. At least it seems like Wargreymon (though basically the Charizard of the franchise) has such 'screwup' in articulation. Metalgarurumon and Magnamon both seem pretty much as one would want them in the articulation department (unless I missed something).

It is a strange oversight though, unless Bandai is treating this as a kids line where it doesn't really matter. Having the option to go without claws would also have been nice.

Still want more though.

I'm >>9371551, and I just got my Hackmon today. He's actually pretty great for what he is - he's got head, arm and leg articulation (no elbows or knees, though I know the Raydramon figure does), and he's detailed pretty nicely (no stickers at all, everything's painted on). I'm actually surprised they went and sculpted his whole head as a separate piece from the hoodie - the pictures made it look like the hoodie was attached to the head. Instead, it's possible to remove both the hood and cloth cape and just have a black Hackmon that looks like his mainline game version (though he has two holes in his eyebrows). He's a nice little desk buddy, and I've already chased down a Raydramon to go with him; I'm just debating on whether or not to paint his lower jaw red to match his character sheet.

Doglike dragon, actually. The Appmon is literally the exact same as the Digimon of the same name - he's just not wearing all the white armor bits and has a blue hoodie (that he keeps up over his face) instead of Hackmon/Huckmon's red one. His Raydramon form looks like a black BaoHackmon with actual wings instead of a scarf, and his Hadesmon form is basically Jesmon as a dragon-centaur thing. If anything, he's basically the 'Black' version of Hackmon, same as Black Tailmon, Black Agumon, and so on.

The only differences are that Appmon Hackmon keeps his hood up (and since he's not wearing that white helmet/mask with the bigger nose blade, his snout doesn't poke out) and isn't wearing all of the white armor with rivets in it. Digimon Huckmon is written as "ハックモン" which means haku mon, a bastardization of the word for 'white' because huckmon is white.

Not defending it per se, but to be frank it wouldn't be a Digimon game without translation or romanization mistakes. Digimon World 1 had Goblimon transliterated as "Goburimon" even though its name is obviously meant to sound like "goblin" aloud. Same game then translated "Shamamon" as "Sharmamon." And that doesn't even touch on all the grammatical errors and glitches in the whole translation.

Digimon and janky localizations go hand in hand.

Got my digivice V today, it's my first vpet since the Savers digivice. I'm trying to link it to the app but it won't connect. Seems like Bandai of America is bringing in the Shodo Digimon figures.

Too bad they didn't seem fit to update them, kind of like how Dragonball Evolve are basically the Shodo Neo figures but a bit bigger and with altered articulation. And I mean, 'Digimon Digivolve' series, it names itself (though I suppose the implication would be that they can change as opposed to articulated figures...). Too bad there isn't an ongoing cartoon that could prompt them to do something like that.

Winning and losing only matters for your mon getting hurt and moving to further stages, points are based on damage done.

Raids should definitely have rewards based on points and not ranking placement like Arena battles. Something like a million points for the capsule and then 5 million for the 2nd capsule or whatever since that's what people really want. Pepper in the vital up chips along the way. Having it be the same as Arena is pretty flawed considering you're supposed to be working together, but you're constantly knocking each other out of the rankings.

The Digivice V is really nice (and surprisingly works well with me despite what I've heard about the issues with darker skin), but personally the digivolution timer passing while they're sleep feels lame to me. The mons digivolve too fast when it's left on continuously, giving me very little time to do anything with them or really appreciate that they're there when they can go through their entire evolution line in like 3 days. With that in mind it honestly seems better for me to just turn the bracelet off when I'm sleeping unless I really need them to evolve, and it doesn't seem like there's much function behind them sleeping in the first place when you can initiate it whenever you want and they don't seem to be reliant on it or cranky if you don't let them like with the older V-pets.

How exactly does the app's battling function work anyway? When I see people in the list for the Arena, is it actually the Digimons of other people browsing the list at the same as me? How about when I randomly get support during Raid Battles, what is that affected by?

2 arena is ghosts. No one will ever know you fought them.

3 raid support is other people doing that level right now, its their cumulative dammage between your hits. Your hits gets shown in their support.
