>>9381681 So, I have to wonder, are Sun-man figures gonna take up space in regular waves, or are they going to be released on the side as a subline or bonus figures?
So, like, from what was confirmed at powercon and in this leak, are we looking at something like:
>wave 8: AE He-man, comic Trap Jaw, Clawful, Trooper + bonus Sun-man >wave 9: 200x Skeletor, King Randor, Whiplash, Mantenna + bonus Pighead and Digitino Or are proper MotU figures going to be bumped back so these Sun-man guys can fit into the waves of 4, and stretch these leaks out. Something like
>wave 8: Sun Man, AE He-man Trooper, Clawful >wave 9: Skeletor, Pighead, Randor, Whiplash >wave 10:Trap Jaw, Digitino, Mantenna, someone else I'd rather the former, myself, just for more rapid release
Anonymous
>>9381772 I'm paranoid and starting to wonder if this was done to fluff the line with filler characters that require next to no tooling. 1 unique mold per wave wouldn't be a great trend when we're relying on DIGITINO to keep sales strong...
Anonymous
>>9381774 I would hope that fluffing the line is not the ONLY reason for doing this, since they could get the same result with minicomic, Filmation, original characters or repaints.
Shit like Lodar, Icer, and that gladiator on the Wind Raider box would take about as much tooling as a Sun-man character.
And if it's a diversity thing...minicomics had Prince Dakon and Geldor, Filnation had Melaktha, Zodak exists and if you make OCs, you could make any kind of black person. And none of those would have involved having to sign deals with ab outside party

The filmation 80s show is really cool. It seems episodic. Should I start from the first episode, or just watching random episodes (like I'm doing now) okay?
Anonymous
>>9383055 random. you can start with episodes that have your favorite characters. chronological goes to New Adventures or 2002
Anonymous
Anonymous
>>9383055 Watching episodes in random order. There's very few times continuity matters. Only exceptions would be "origin" episodes.
Like "Dawn of Dragoon" should be watched before any other Dree Elle episode, for example, and "Revenge is Never Sweet" only makes sense if you watch "Witch and Warrior" first, but since most characters get introduced as if they were there all along, there's very few episodes that need to be watched first.

Anonymous
>>9384607 >I have a bad feeling all the OC characters may be a mattel creations thing I don't think they should be advertising characters on retail packaging that are not getting retail release.
Like, let's say I'm casual as fuck. I don't know Mattel Creations or Powercon are a thing. But I see RoE at Target. Back of package shows variants on Skeletor's crew that I expect to be able to buy. 200x Lyn and LoP Mer-man show up, so I wait for Beast Man and Tri-klops, but LoP Beast Man in the colors promised on the box never comes because they repainted it and I'm unaware of the box set, and neither does minicomic Tri-klops because it's a limited run retail exclusive.
Same goes for putting Duplicat on the Battlefield Warriors box.
If you advertise it at retail, where even casuals can see that the character exists, then the figure should hit retail so they have a chance to buy it.

>Like, let's say I'm casual as fuck. I don't know Mattel Creations or Powercon are a thing. But I see RoE at Target. Back of package shows variants on Skeletor's crew that I expect to be able to buy. We expect that, but that's because we are in the know from previous experience, and are aware the packaging artwork can hint at future releases. But for the casual as fuck buyer who knows little to nothing of Motu, I think they will almost always refer to the cross sell art for what's obviously available. I'm not entirely convinced they'd immediately assume otherwise.
I can see Mattel having a lack of faith in new characters at retail, and I don't necessarily agree because who the fuck wouldn't want a space frog or skeleton soldiers? As much as I'd love rocket froggo, gladiator Zodac, spooky green skeletons and generic demons, I'd rather them be online exclusives over having 0 chance of owning one.

Pic related. You've got the cross sell to sell the other Snakes, but then the card art is a reminder that Sy-klone still exists, so if you missed him, go get him and recreate this battle scene.

>>9384735 >Pic related. You've got the cross sell to sell the other Snakes, but then the card art is a reminder that Sy-klone still exists, so if you missed him, go get him and recreate this battle scene. Snake boys were what, 85 or 86? At this point Motu was still pretty dominant, toys despite the year released were still in production to some capacity, Motu was a staple. In this instance I'd 100% say having Sy-Klone so front and center was a way to get kids to buy him too.
>Granted, this is vintage, and Origins has been teasing as-yet non existent figures so its not exactly the same, so maybe I shouldn't view vintage art and Origins art with the same attitude That is the primary issue. By 85/86 Motu was tried and true, modern kids may not be(if I were to hazard a guess are not) the core demographic consuming this particular incarnation, and Motu is a ship that has sunk multiple times now. Also worth noting is that Sy-Klone was front and center and had already been produced, not being teased. I think the frog man, not Zodac, fuerza t goons, cyclops, demons etc appearing in small glimpses in the background isn't quite the same. Like you said they don't exist as toys, and sadly some may never get the chance. In the case of minicomic Tri-Klops on the back of RoE, we'd known he was bound to come out prior due to the contest, and LoP Beast Man had been out from that box set for roughly a year. The distribution on both of those particular versions is limited, but we do have a mass retail(I use this term this loosely) Tri-Klops and a two mass retail versions of Beast Man. I don't know how hung up a casual would be on not getting those particular versions that appeared in the background, given they take the time to look up what else is and has been available.
Just so you don't think I'm a provoking shit head, again what your saying does have merit/makes plenty of sense. This isn't the hill I'm dying on, just figured it was worth discussion. You're a good man anon.

What characters do you think are likely to lose their action feature the same way Fisto, Jitsu and Sorceress did? I think there are 3 definites:>Whiplash. They'll probably give him a solid plastic tail instead of a floppy rubber one >Two-Bad. Basically the same gimmick as Fisto and Jitsu with the spring loaded arms for punching himself in the face, so it'll be gone for the same reason. >Spikor. Keeping the extending trident would probably mean removing elbow articulation, which I don't see them doing for a kind of bland feature which was only fun in conjunction with the power punch waist which is already gone. There's a couple others I think are "maybes" for losing the features, but I'm not as confident in those cases as I am with the previous 3.

>>9392875 Origins Battle Cat shelf warms and they just put out an oversized Masterverse Battle Cat. They're probably holding off to see how the that Battle Cat and the normal CGI figures sell first, because really, if they end up having 2 shelf warming Battle Cats out at the same time, and then release a 3rd, I can't imagine retailers would be thrilled.

At the risk of sounding like an heretic, I have never been a big fan of the beak-nose design of the Battle cat armor. This is why I was particularly looking forward this new design. Guess I'll have to wait and hope the CGI figure get successful, at least with the kids.

>>9392928 At Powercon, they said at the start of the Origins panel that MotU lines will not be ending in 2023, they are not losing the rights. So Scott's claims were bullshit

Do you guys think that the precedent set by Kol Darr will mean ALL Filmation OCs will be Mattel Creations exclusives (at least as far as Origins is concerned)? And if you think "yes", do you think they SHOULD be?

>>9393028 I think the only BIG ones we really need/want are the filmation designs for Bow, She-Ra, Sweet Bee, and... maybe Trapjaw?
As far as OCs are concerned I'm really hoping for Razz, Kitrina, and Shadow Weaver.

>>9392426 If larger figures is your thing go with Masterverse. If you want paysets, vehicles, and bright colors go with Origins and the new Netflix Heman stuff.
I'm all in on Origins myself. Going to be selective of Masterverse figures and going to wait and see if the 3D heman stuff gets a Masterverse or Origins style figures.

It's cheap, space-friendly, I'm not a fan of the MCX mini figures from an aesthetic stand point, but your post got me to thinking, you know what would be an ideal MOTU line from a space saving perspective? A 1/18 scale line, but with typical MotU proportions as opposed to G I Joe proportions.

>>9393797 Masterverse is the new toyline that is currently doing Revelations toys, but later on its going to be a "catch all" line that will make figures from the CGI show, 200x, PoP and a "What If" type series called New Eternia. The toys are all Marvel Legends style, 7" and lots of articulation.

The real Masterpiece equivalent would be Classics, but I believe they discontinued that line completely.
