Bought a whole set of DIMs including everything currently released but the Tamers ones, Ancient Warriors and Pulsemon, so while I wait like a week to get started with Mad Black Roar I'm just working on another Gammamon egg. No real plans for it, but last time I got GrusGammamon from neglect and not really knowing how the device worked so I'm trying a little harder now. Really want Angoramon soon.

So do we know if the Kamen Rider and Ultraman character cards actually work on the Digivice-V and Vital Bracelet? Bandai has only issued a warning saying there may be issues, but hasn't straight up said "this doesn't work".

Didn't the chart have a BIG X for them when listed against the Digivice V and Vital Bracelet?

I was under the assumption they're releasing an entirely separate bracelet, hence why the cards are VBM and not DIM.

Is the Digivice V that much of an improvement over the standard Vital Bracelet? It got announced after I had already ordered my special green VB from the last run on Premium Bandai, and I'd feel a bit silly ordering a new model before I've even gotten one to begin with.

It's functionally exactly the same and the hardware is the same too, but the big improvements are actually under the hood - you get 4 vital points per 50 steps instead of one, it's not as harsh on needing to constantly absorb your pulse to feed your digis, and it defaults your heart rate to 80 if it can't check it instead of just failing altogether. These things ultimately add up to it being less frustrating and intensive on users regarding raising their Digis. The pulse reader is super cheap and shitty and I've heard even pale-skinned users have issues with reading - it's clear Bandai realized they couldn't make a device that was so harsh on getting your information and needing your information when the hardware meant to do it is so unreliable. This is basically their way of doing damage control without actually changing the hardware.

For the most part though, that has made the V less irritating than the base VB - mine doesn't read me super well but even when it's inconsistent the Vital Values don't drop off as hard as the original bracelet, so while it does take a bit more work to get values to high numbers for certain evolutions, it doesn't feel like I'm desperately fighting to prevent them from dropping like before. Some people didn't have an issue with the base VB in the first place, though, and you may easily be one of them, so you may not even see the value in these changes unless you experience them firstly.

Oh, and Digimon now sleep by your clock, now, instead of sleeping on their own, and the evolution timer passes while they sleep. It's really nice and convenient.

Thanks for the rundown. The sleep function is what I was most interested in, but I've read you can just send mons to the app so they don't die on you when you aren't moving around. I think I'll just wait until I can try my VB, hopefully the V is still available by the time p-bandai actually delivers it.

I use my 1st model to "cheat", you can put a white tape on the sensor and shake it like crazy while you calibrate it and you will never have to wear it again, you will only need to shake it once in a while, but thats easy if you buy a phone shaker

not to dunk on the way people choose to enjoy their media but I don't personally understand buying a watch which is based around tracking you and then trying to find a way to automate that so it doesn't need to track you. i understand wanting to improve the accuracy of course but half the fun for this for me is so my fat ass has even more motivation for go for a jog. i don't just want to gain vitals i want to gain vitals because i'm doing something that isn't just sitting in my chair and jerking my phone off.

yes, V is so much better for the daily driver. Mons doesn't sleep, it reads better, even when Im sleeping it doesn't drain vitals. The first watch version feels like a beta test, thats why I turned it into a regular digivice that you have to shake

I was thinking about this. I feel like the app needs more rewards and options if it is going to give you so many coins, or at least it should lower the rate you get them. I don't really use the Vital boosts anyway but it's true that there's little reason not to just use them and boost your way up to your favorite evos.

The app has a lot of potential, it depends on how far they want to go with it but they could easily implement a lot of extra modes or gameplay features that use your digimon and more items as a result. It's just a scaled up version of the watch currently so what you can do with your currency is fairly limited.

I had MBR and TSH Dims pre ordered 2 months prior to release. 1 month post release and they hadn't shipped because they decided to move their warehouse and hold all shipments until they were done. I slowpoke'd on the Vital Brace and missed out on multiple chances to get the Veemon brace. Debating if I should just slowpoke tax pay $120 shipped for it or just preorder the Digital Monster Digivice -V in blue with Gammamon.

no, but you can get like 10 trophies per day, you only really need to shake your arm hard, so cheating the clock by putting it at 23:59 you pretty much only need to do it twice at most for all evolutions

They're not one-time consumables, you can use them as much as you want on the original bracelet or up to three Digivice V bracelets.

There's also two ways to reset DiMs, one with a debug menu on the bracelet and another tool you can build to back up, reset, and replace data on the DiMs.

Started up my dm20 again so my dmx would have something to battle until I eventually get a second one and god I remember why I let this thing die, the literal endless piles of shit you have to deal with with two digimon is beyond absurd. I started babies at the exact same time and the dm20 got to 4 piles and got sick at least 3 times where the dmx never got past 1 pile in the same timeframe.

Bandai has been weirdly quiet about future dims lately, purely focusing on the non-digimon spin-offs. The whole mess with the tamers set seems to have put a stop to things for a bit. The arbitrary delay of tamers getting a retail release in february has replaced any news of the judgment/karma pair, if that's even still happening or being pbandai. There are a lot of unknowns right now.

The plan of release is every other month/other other month. Questions about the Digivice-V/Vital Bracelet.
1. In the app's battles I notice occasionally me and my opponent will "clash" attacks, so the projectiles just hit one another and cancel each other out. What exactly causes that?
2. If my Tamer Rank/win rate is altered when using the app independently of the watch (for example if I've been grinding entirely using Digimon in storage), when does the info on the watch get updated? Will it pass that info to the watch next time I do any transfer between them?
3. What does Miles (S) do? It says "Small Steps Bonus for 15M", but I don't really understand what that is doing. Steps seem to progress as usual.

And this isn't nearly as important but I'm curious how the technology works. I thought it was one of those things where the DIM doesn't actually have all the data on it, and it's actually just a "key" for unlocking what is in the watch/app, but it does some cool things that made me not sure. Is data actually being "transferred" or is it basically just making copies of mons and then preventing you from accessing them on whatever device you transferred them from?

4, incorrect. The DIMs do have and load data to the VB. They also have a small one time write partition that the VB writes to to lock it to the device.

Some people have made custom DIMs and even found out how to load their own firmware with them.

Thanks for answering. So when I use the VS DIM, is it actually moving my mon from the watch to the DIM? So if it were destroyed for any reason while I had a mon on it, the data is genuinely lost? That's kind of cool if so.

If youre plugging in a new DIM, its loading the trees, conditions, sprites, names etc onto the device.

If youre plugging in the VS dim its actively copying your mon onto the DIM

But its just a copy, so if it never makes it back home your mon will just re-appear on the VB eventually

Not quite, and no.
For several reasons.
(All of this is second hand btw. I am not an expert)

There are two partitions and one of them is inaccessable so you cant write the entire new firmware, just make changes to it.

The firmware cant be extracted through the dim slot, just loaded, you need more equipment to extract it from the internals.

But if you want an example of someone dealing custom firmware check out "Veak", he did a kickstarter for custom shells that included custom firmware.

I had the same hopes as you and I ended up opening both my VB and D-V and putting them in eachothers shells so i could keep using my old one with the new upgrades, and keep the new one nice for my collection.

There was some talk about the Figure-Rise Standard Wargreymon regarding its gorilla arms, but I just saw this video, and it seems like there was originally wrist articulation built into the design but was perhaps removed due to cost cutting. That said, it seems like you can simply cut that solid joint at the break and you'll have functional wrist articulation. It seems like that's the only change needed. The elbow in the lower pic is cut up a bit because the guy cut that up a bit too to increase the range.

From the looks of it, so long as E1(3) and A(2) are connected to the cut halves of B1(16) and its brother part, it looks like it will hold. I guess it just depends on how much friction will be in those parts as to whether it swivels or just spins. Looking at those divots it seems like the hold should be pretty secure, but if not that isn't a tough thing to address.

In the app, put the digimon in a fridge capsule. Tap on the capsule they're in, scroll to the bottom of the info page, tap delete

The egg and X is the factory reset setting. To delete a digimon on the watch try hatching a new digimon while you already have one active and one in storage. It'll ask you if you wanna delete the one in storage.

I have one of those on my V. The only issue I have with them is that the protective layers are a pain in the ass to remove. The top layer's pull tab came off easier than the layer itself, which made me think it wasn't there at all and the protector was thicker plastic that fit like crap. Eventually I was able to get that top protective layer off and then it fit perfectly.
If you know that going into it, they're just as good as any other imported ones.

I completely understand why since that would be frustrating to some but I was already prepared to lose that Digimon when I set them up for a Jogress in the first place and didn't cancel the evolution. It's sort of lame that it just creates a copy of the mon and merges your main mon with that, I like the feeling that I'm actually fusing them together for real.

I was told that what's happening in raid battles is that when other people are fighting them and lowering their health, the boss' new max health is however much health they had at the point that you chose to enter the raid. So if the boss is at 20000 health, and people weaken it to 10000 while you're not playing, it'll still be treated as at "full health" when you fight it, but the full health is 10000 and not 20000.

The game doesn't seem to let other players beat a boss for you unless you yourself have faced it on that level at least once, though I don't really understand the process. I guess it only starts considering outside damage done to the boss after it knows you fight it.

heart rate is not accurate at all, even the manual state this. If you want something for that, look anything else, you can still get a general idea of your heart rate, being 65 the minimum it will display, but don't use it as medical evidence

It's too bad, it seemed like a novel idea as a fitness toy, like an evolution of the old Digivice where you'd walk to generate the currency (or shake it like chump). I wonder if they made an 'advanced version' that it would do well, basically raise the cost but add functionality and accuracy to it, and new features, maybe even upgraded graphics. And ya, based on posts here it really seems like the app invalidates the need to use it as intended. This is really hard for lots of people, so little things like the Vital Bracelet that help push them there are great little motivators. Not to mention we all have those down days where we can use a bit of a boost. It's like with Pokemon Go, the people who wanted to just walk around via joystick rather than actually walk around, what's even the point anymore, so it's good that Niantic never gave in to the pressure from that side.

Maybe one day they'll release a high-end version. Not sure the intersection between 'fitness enthusiast' and 'Digimon fan' but I think there would be some crossover appeal for both sides. Make it a bit more sleek, some better features and tracking, up the price some, and I think you'd have a solid product.

That'd be pretty funny, but I just mean more the features of the base device. I highly doubt that even if they made such a thing that they'd change the coding of the 'game' itself, it'd probably play the exact same way in conjunction with the app too. But that it would also be usable as a replacement fitbit at the same time. Some improvements like adding different Digimon to fight would be nice though. I didn't know until I watched some videos that, say you have Gammamon, you just fight other Gammamon within the game itself.

Bandai would probably sooner make their own than let GSC do it. With all the model kits they've been making maybe we could get some more simple kits like those Pokemon ones under 10 bucks. It would be suitable for Child/Rookies, and since they're often quite popular and are akin to mascots, I think they'd do quite well. Agumon and Gammamon would be a good start.

Even just their heads, shoulders, and legs (like Gengar) would be as much articulation as most Nendos (even more if they were like Greninja), and the only thing they may not have as much of are accessories. For the most part an effect part would be sufficient for some. Agumon with a Baby Flame, Gammamon with his wings and maybe chocolate. Not to mention it'd be a fraction of the cost (literally 1/5 to 2/5 of the cost, most likely).

I feel like if you actually care about using the fitness part as a motivator, then there's plenty of features to encourage that - even after you max out your digimon there's trophy collecting and the Adventure Missions. I do agree that the app (and the Digivice-V) are a little on the overtly generous side regarding how you can quickly max out your vitals and basically never worry about them dropping without doing much but I think forcing discipline on people who you know don't care about moving around anyway wouldn't be a good way to correct it. The reality is if you don't feel like exercising nonetheless you can wave your arm back and forth like an idiot. In the end no one device can create in you the "need" to exercise, it has to supplement what a part of you already wants to do. I think this device does it well, even considering things like how easy it is to vital max.

I do agree that I would like to see a "pro" version though, I'd easily pay more for better hardware and something a bit more unforgiving.

Personally I wish the Digivolution timers lasted way longer. The Digivice-V making it so time passes while they sleep means you can reach Mega in less than a week. It also makes the Digivolution Timer shortener items in the app more useless since taking 10-30 minutes off wouldn't mean anything if it hit the timer while you were asleep.

My friend has the dukemon one and it also has the same brittle issue. The inner metal frame is sturdy but everything covering them isnt. Also doesnt help that theyre all pointy as shit so you definitely feel like youll break something sooner or later.

I got the picture from the video below. The fellow is talking in Chinese and probably details how he went about doing this, but he doesn't show the process. He does show both arms (a bit earlier than the timestamp in the link), but it doesn't seem like anything more than simply cutting the joint along the existing seam.

Gotta start with a primer coat - really thin, just enough for the colored paint you want to use to stick to. once it dries, airbrushing will usually do the trick. Finish with a gloss coat for the armor parts for that nice shine while leaving the skin matte. It takes time and patience, and lots and lots of practice to get right; I suggest practicing on cheap HG gunpla until you feel confident enough to move onto something you actually care about.

Would you say primer is a necessary part of the process? I bought some white 'paint-on' primer that you were supposed to apply with a brush, but it really wasn't friendly with water when I tried to thin it, and mostly gave up on it. The canned ones seem most effective from what I've seen. I've also painted without primer and it turns out fine, I think. But I guess with primer the paint will stick to it better? I also have a paint on matte coat which seems to work quite well (at least 2 thinned layers), so paint doesn't usually rub off, even if I try to scratch it.

I've also been meaning to use my airbrush, but that crappy white primer has me nervous that paint will glob and clog it, despite the primer being the only thing that's acted in such a way.

At the very least the Arena tiers give you good incentive to hold onto certain levels for longer. Sometimes I cancel digivolutions just to have a few rookies to rank up in arena for the week. But as a whole I wish you could spend more time with them. Have fun! It's not too hard to figure out at all, but make sure you download the app since that's the other half of the fun. Even if you don't care to use the online battle features or the items it lets you see all sorts of useful stats about your digis and keep track of the lines you've collected, view evo timers, evo requirements, cumulative winrates/miles/vitals, etc.

Main thing I'd fix with the entire setup for the VitalBracelet is the app rewards. The app gives you way too much currency and rewards, I'm sitting on over 100 raid tickets from someone who hardly does them. You get ridiculous amounts of money from winning the average arena battle and boost items barely put a dent in that. They should either lower the amount of currency you get, or inflate the price of the shop items. The shop items are not a bad idea at all but it doesn't feel like they hold any value because you can so easily sit on piles of money and break everything however you want.

Also personally I'd drastically lower vital gain from in-app battles because otherwise there's little reason to not do in-app battles over watch battles outside of convenience since you can choose your opponent and buff your mons and still gain a lot of vitals from it. It's still a lot of fun but for the app being such a useful and cool supplementary tool it also trivializes way too much about the watch and it'd be an easy fix too.

The battles are pretty barebones, but they're essentially the ones from the original VPet with a little pseudostrategy added in. I hit Rank 30-ish in the Mega tier last week and didnt have the patience to go further but it is strangely satisfying getting that number to go up with each win. For being something you can grind out during a dull workday, they're fine (but I 100% would not be opposed to a more involved system). Of course I agree about the rewards - I think app rewards are cool but they should be rarer than they are. Your daily 3 arena wins in each tier alone are enough to get lots of stuff like mood boosters, repair codes, etc, on top of the fact that app battles seem to just be more reliable for rapid vital gain than anything else.

Again though, I hope this can be adjusted because the nice thing about an app is all they have to do is push an update. I'm hoping the developers have considered something like that - the app as a whole is really cute but a little shoddy in some ways regarding stuff like the UI (can't redeem all rewards at once, can't push the item quantity you purchase over 10, have to use one booster item at a time)

Fiddled around with the app a bit (haven't messed with items or coins yet, though I have a ton of free stuff. Also a free Pulsemon that I'll trade over when I'm done with Aegisdramon), but I've done some raid battles against Millenniummon, and have been kicking ass in both the Rookie and Champion arenas with a 93% win rate. Honestly, this has been more fun than I thought it would be - Missions, Special Missions, Adventure Missions, and raising Vitals have been pretty easy, since all of that stuff is already part of my usual daily routine, meaning I'm getting rewarded for doing things I was already doing anyway. Definitely thinking of picking up some more DiM cards now - Guilmon and the Mad Black Roar/True Shadow Howl pack look like fun, but I really want to get my hands on the Ancient Warriors card. Looks like that one was an exclusive, though - any idea if they'll be doing a normal release of it?

I'm the poster above - my Digivice -V- is the JP version, and I've had no issue with using it. The only things that are in Japanese are the Digimon names under their status menu - everything else is in English (since it's mostly just numbers and a few simple words), and the companion app will automatically download the version appropriate for the region your phone is set to (plus you can manually change the settings in-app if the need arises). So yeah, grab any version you want.

Yeah, I kinda wish there was an option to revert your Digimon to its Rookie/Child stage on the homescreen, and have it evolve to your maximum unlocked form for battles and Missions. It seems that you can 'freeze' a Digimon's evolution by transferring it to a spare capsule on the app, though, since it doesn't evolve unless its's in the bracelet, so it should be theoretically possible to hatch a fresh egg, evolve it to whatever form you want, raise its vitals and then pop it into the app to keep it at that form forever, I think. Might experiment with that when I'm done.

It's goofy to handwave possible improvements with "just don't do the thing that makes it bad". If the feature is there and advertised it means there is an expectation to use it so as a result it's worth considering how it affects the overall product. It's not even about self-control- as I said you can literally do the bare minimum in terms of daily opportunities and still end up with more money than you'd know what to do with.

With him releasing in June, maybe they were waiting to see how the first 3 were doing sales wise, because those 3 are October, December, then February, 2 months apart each. I'll be hopeful and imagine that this is the case, and that more will follow Dukemon sooner like the earlier releases. Or maybe even ramp it up.

UlorceVeedramon (what a name) is getting this playmat alongside a Gallantmon (and their Child and Baby forms) playmat, so maybe he could join the party? I don't think he's ever gotten an articulated toy of some sort, so maybe??

Yes. I'm quite surprised that the fandom don't seem to care about screen or model or art accuracy, which this does. The Amplified is beautiful but it's also an original design while this looks just like the Digimon it's based on and yet I see some complaining about that. I guess maybe it's like the G1 fan who doesn't necessarily want a 1 to 1 recreation, but a reimagining.

Roundabout way of saying I think they're appealing to different groups with both lines, so re-releasing popular Digimon in this line makes sense. Likely an Omegamon in the future. Given the 2 Knights, must as well start by knocking them off, maybe sprinkling an unusual choice in there once in a while.

I'd hardly say "doesn't matter" with Digimon, surely it's up to the individual and how they feel about the series. I think the Amplified look great, but I prefer the affordability and accurate looks of the Standard so far. More products the better, desu.

If a video game has broken options that are readily and comfortably available to the player then it has a balancing issue. We can go back and forth about whether it is right to use X Y Z or whether you should treat X Y Z as a part of the game or not but the core of it is that the app is a companionpiece to the watch and so a few simple fixes could ensure the app stays useful without trivializing raising entirely. There is genuinely no reason for you to be defending with your life the idea that the app could simply be balanced better.

Obviously this is a child's toy, so making it easy and intuitive is their key feature.
As an assumedly grown individual, you have the willpower and restraint to limit the means of play.

I genuinely understand what you're trying to say but there is a very severe difference between someone discovering or figuring out a way to break the game and the game essentially breaking itself through casual use. I acknowledge the app isn't the "main tool" but the app is also centered around challenges and earning rewards and is clearly intended to be used in conjunction with the devices, so it's very strange to me that it's also very quick to undermine its own systems.
