Meanwhile, the Ghostbusters Proton pack, which costs almost twice as much and has a more niche adult collector fanbase that wouldn't in the past fund the creation of an Ecto-1 that fit 6-inch action figures thru Mattel Creations, is now almost funded, closing in on 7,000 backers.

I just want my Zartan to have hair for once. S7 kind of sucks yes but no one else is attempting this so I’m going to see what they can do. Even that April is really only ruined by the skin tone; their human sculpts are admittedly not the best but with these old cartoons the animation was simple enough the loss of detail doesn’t hurt the same way it does their other lines. Their filmation stuff was fine sculpt wise, the plastic certainly was glossy but it wasn’t bad enough to be a deal breaker like April.

I wouldn’t cancel it if I were you. I think like all Hasbro stuff, you’re playing the QC lottery. But mine looks fine, and the effect is cool enough to outweigh a tiny splotch or two. Plus, if you hate it, you can sell it for like triple the price if you want. If you feel bad about scalping it, just sell it for half what they’re charging. You’ll still clear a decent profit without reaming a fellow collector, if that concerns you.

So, the thing about that, is that the plastic underneath the coating is almost the same exact color as the coating itself, so it's not as if they molded it in "regular" flesh-toned plastic then coated it with this stuff.
I'm considering selling this one at somewhat of a mark-up, but less than what they're going for on evil baby currently, then listing some of my other toys I've been sitting on for a while to recoup the cost and make enough to buy one at aftermarket, just so I can be done with the headache of it and move on. Learned my lesson and I'm not doing exclusives from Hasbro anymore. This was my first and last time. Just not worth it to me.

There's already Hisstank fags excited about this, shitting on the 2000's release where they made new head sculpts that were properly sized to the bodies. o-ring fags on there are upset that the heads on those figures aren't gigantic like the originals.
>More so wouldn’t this be competing in an already saturated retro market Yes! And none of it will be repros of things from later years that people like, because most o-ring fags only care about the original 13 and how joes all need to wear green military gear. Super7 wanted to do their own take on o-ring figures but Lenny and the team wouldn't let them do brand new figures sculpted to look like the Sunbow cartoons, because they said it was too similar of a product to what they themselves might make. So, let me repeat that, Super7 wanted to essentially make brand new o-ring figures with new sculpts, that looked exactly like the cartoons. And because Lenny and his team wanted to do some lazy ass repros, Super7 was forced to make Re-Action Figures instead.

The only reason Joe died in 1995 was not be because of "Neon 90's" toys, it was because Hasbro cancelled the '95 line to cater to the nostalgia fans from the very early 80's who were now adult collectors and whining that they wanted a return to classic military shit. So Hasbro made the Sgt. Savage line, which was originally not even supposed to replace ARAH. It was intended as a separate thing that would be sold next to it, which was why they scaled differently. But Hasbro decided to cancel ARAH and make Sgt Savage the only line, resulting in Sgt Savage and nostalgia fags killing Joe at retail, until Toys R Us revived ARAH two years later.
Sgt. Savage was all boomer classic military shit in bland colors and more "real world." It was also incredibly boring. And that's what I feel like keeps happening when they make repros of o-ring. It's always the most boring shit.

And mostly the same goes for '85 excluding a few vehicle drivers that nobody cares about. But '86 deep dicks out all the boomers that liked the 82 and 83 shit. All the characters by then are very unique and exciting with bright colors, as if they were superheros and the vehicles are crazier and less real world, and they had even added Sgt Slaughter to the line.

>>9433363 >Hasbro seems near contemptuous to any brand that doesn't have movies/shows tied to it. This is retail's fault.
They only want to order shit that has media tied to it, in order to maximize sales.
The days of original toylines (in retail) is gone because of that, but even long standing series like GI Joe are seen as untested like an original toyline.
Hasbro would LOVE to make and sell their toylines all year long if they could, but retail stores only want to carry shit that will sell in the hundreds of thousands to millions every quarter.
A dedicated toy store would garner the sales that Hasbro would accept. This is why GI Joe basically became a TRU exclusive in the mid-10s and why they killed the line when TRU went under. Without TRU, other retailers (like smalljoes and BBTS) aren't big enough to actually get the sales Hasbro seeks.
Why doesn't Hasbro do what NECA does, where Target/Walmart sells their toys in the collectors section? Because that stock isn't already bought. NECA is sending product to those stores, basically free of charge, and will only make their money back from the product being sold in stores (consignment). Hasbro usually makes a product IF they get enough orders, before any product is actually made, almost a year before the toys are supposed to hit the shelves. Plus, NECA/Mezco/Figma/Figuarts only sell in the tens of thousands, which is way under what a company like Hasbro expects to sell.
This is why Hasbro lets companes like Super7 to make Hasbro licensed products, because it's breadcrumbs vs the cakes they sell.
BTW, wtf is TRU doing? They make claims that they're doing shit, with pop up and retail stores opening again, but where the fuck are they? There's still a billion dollar hole, especially for a physical retail store, that TRU ripped open when they went bankrupt all those years ago. Someone needs to take advantage of those missing sales.

This led the team to omit Gung-Ho's blue vest, because they thought people would be upset, only for them to turn around and be upset that it wasn't blue.
The team appears now to have abandoned the re-imagined designs. I'm fine with either or myself. I favor the 80's looks, but I don't care about them being realistic either and preferred for example the first release duke with the red gloves compared to the toned down second release.

Category 1.
-New figures and character that fit in the same scale and style. We never got a Pythona for example in the vintage line, and Big Lob was a rare FSS Club exclusive.
Category 2.
-re-tooled and updated vintage characters, such the way they did in the 2000's comic packs, where they would give them new head sculpts, and improve on the vintage figures.
Category 3.
-re-pops of figures that have never really been reproduced before, because Hasbro either lost the mold, or just didn't remake them, because they were something from the 90's.

Green outlined things are mostly made of softer plastic, and these can be popped apart easily. Note that the butterfly joint is also made of this kind of plastic.
Red outlined things are hard plastic and will break if you force them. No amount of heat will soften this plastic—so you cannot completely dissemble the torso or pelvic assembly without a chisel. The pelvis is covered in a soft rubber piece that does come off (top right in pic), so if you wanted to swap that out, you probably could.
