I got this guy back in February, and that'll probably do me until next February, where I kinda want the space shuttle, which will hopefully still be on sale

You can still sel them after you've had your fun. Bit of a hassle to go through with that but less hassle than moving/organizing all of it imo. Unless you enjoy that part specifically.

The only big Lego set I bought when I realized I'm an adult and can just buy things is a train, because as a kid I always dreamed of having a Lego train and spent years salivating over the Metroliner and other sets. Totally worth it.

And Legos always sell for ridiculous amounts of eBay. I remember I had some glued together Lego sets from when I worked at TRU. We used to trash the displays, and I'd take home the sets inside. People still wanted them.

Oh my god this.
Lego is just about the easiest thing to buy, because Lego sets almost always retain their value extremely well

I spent like a thousand on Lego a decade ago, and I haven't spent more than 20 or 30 since, because I'll just sell older sets to make way for a rotating line of newer ones. Which works out great, because the real fun for me is in building, while the displaying value kinda fades over time. Buy a set, display it for a year or two, sell it for MSRP, use the money to buy another set. Works great!
