I finally put the finishing touches on my Ninjago Mechs. I think these are my best mechs yet. Added waist rotation to the white titan mech and did a ton of cosmetic changes. And I made a bull head for Coles mech. The jaw even opens and closes. Also gave them color specific weapons.

I should also mention I've never seen a single episode of Ninjago,ever. Is it a good show? I'm sort of interested now.

Alright based. This was already the best Chinese New Year set solely for being a generic ice skating rink with some Chinese culture slapped on, but even then it feels like a good addition to any winter village setup compared to say the Chinese Dragon dancer set earlier. Just get rid of the tiger cutouts, the the big ass ice sculpture, the not-lamp posts in the back, and change the roof/details of the ice skate shop and it's basically a fancy City set. The only other change to make is to grab some brown/blonde/red hair to mix in among all the black hair.

Yea, I figured as much. I remember trying to watch Chima when it first aired and it was just too shitty to sit through. I'm guessing Ninjago is more of that kind of thing.

I guess I'll just keep buying the dragon sets.

1) That arcade cabinet mech is the coolest thing ever
2) The bull head is pretty genius. Looks like a minotaur.
3) Nice job with the waist rotation mod. The bo staff is really cool too.

All in all, great job with the team. I've never seen the show either, but I've bought a lot of the sets just because the builds are usually a really good value. You've improved a lot with your mechs too. I'd say these are some of my favorites. But I still think the pink Overwatch mech you made was my favorite. I have it saved on my computer and I'm going to try and replicate it when I'm not backlogged with sets.

that's one of my favourite minifig heads. works well with the treesuit, the ninjago fish heads, etc. I should probably buy a few more...

There are optional mixel joints behind the main ratchet in the knee that can be disconnected to give it (limited) knee articulation.

Your other point is valid though. But, at the end of the day, it's a fuck huge mech, so there are real issues the build will face regarding stability if you expect the knees to be as articulated as a standard action figure. It can really get in "good enough" poses, and more a display piece than anything because of the shelf presence it has.

Zanes Titan Mech has its flaws (I really wish there was a thigh and waist swivel), but its definitly a step in the right direction for TLG's bigger mech designs.

The show honestly isn't bad if you get over the characters being minifigures and some setpieces being very obviously designed to sell toys. It can get surprisingly mature for a kid's show and has some great worldbuilding, I'd definitely recommend it if you watch cartoons anyways. Seasons 4-6, 8-9, and 13-14 are based

Inside of them.
Those large Technic clicky-joints have a slight curve where the joint goes over into the liftarm section of the piece and they expect you to build on top of it - that may work in LDD but not really on the actual model without putting the parts under stress.

same, prints are nice but unless its on one side of a brick or something, it's difficult for my autism to justify using it in a different way in a moc. Like a using a printed tile as a floor tile or something, i hate when it doesnt match. Stickers you can leave off, letting you use the plain part in other builds

Yes, get it before its gone. All the chinese new year sets are peak soul and this is the best one so far. This one connects to the modular buildings and you can orient the baseplates in different ways to make it highly customizable. Also one of the minifigs comes with a selfie stick just like you might see some hipsters girls in real life holding if you went to a festival. Its like Lego puts their best designers on this line.

I like that station (6384) the vehicles are big improvement on last 1979 police station.

but i hate the open middle bit , i Assume its supposed to be a place for bike but nowhere to attach no stand . It also got two open doorways to garage and reception which looks and feels bad. They should have brought wall forward and converted the space to a Store room or something. They could place bike in main garage or a stand out front. There is room in front for a bike shed if they could pony up some more parts

Lads I'm in the middle of unpacking all my shit after a move and got to my Train Station that I made like 5+ years ago. I liked it back then but I'm a bit unhappy with how it looks now (Especially the roof). How do you think I should change it up? I'm trying to capture the look of rural countryside UK train stations like pic related, so the immediate changes I'd want to make are swapping out the yellow guardlines for white ones, a covered platform of sorts, and more masonry on the building itself. Adding more benches/lampposts is a good idea, I'll add that to the bucket list. I'll also see what I can do for signs, I definitely need some sort of station name for sure.

Granted I never go for accuracy or licensed models and work at a much smaller scale. I let the pieces I use dictate the scale or let the scale dictate what pieces i can use to represent something. I dont mind more oldschool studded or stepped square pieces in builds that represent gradual curves, but i personally try to avoid them.

Sure you could smooth the roof if you really wanted. Maybe a tiny overhang above the windows. But honestly its rooted in the classic style wich gives it SOUL.
I'd give it some lamps and garbagecans and other clutter like that or animals and birds on the roof to give it some life but leave it alone for the most part.

Definitely planning on picking up these two. Wolverine is nice to see again after so long, shame about no dual molded legs or leg printing, but I can atleast change the hips to blue. Hopefully more X-Men figs start showing up more frequently again, I’d really like some Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Magnetos figures soon

What do you guys reckon prototype pieces are worth? A local collector is selling most of what he has from the 70s/80s/90s and moving to a retirement community. There's a couple pieces he tells me are prototypes from Denmark.

There's a court jester torso that has cracked down the side, some sort of beret hat, a knight's helmet I've never seen before and most interestingly, a sea serpent based on the old green dragon.

He wants to sell the prototypes as a lot for $4000 and I'm kind of spooked since it's a lot of money for like 6 pieces. Then again, pieces like Mr. Gold sell in that neighborhood and aren't nearly as special. But this is super niche.

I've already bought about $3k worth of the guy's stuff and it's all correct so I don't think any of the items are fake. Everything but the beret has Lego stamps on it. It would empty most of my bank account to get these items on top of my purchases already, but it feels like a once in a lifetime kinda buy. I even found images of the serpent or lochness online and can't find any one else that owns one. He originally put the value at $5,000 for the lochness alone but is working with me since I've bought a lot from him.

It's honestly a hard decision because I'm basically emptying my entire bank account on vintage toys, but this feels like a rare opportunity.

I bought out all of his pirate and castle sets for $2875 yesterday thinking I could catalogue and then resale some on Bricklink to lessen the financial blow, then he brings those out to show me the pride of his collection.

I messaged a couple collectors on Eurobricks and Classiccastle but haven't heard word back yet. Trying basically anywhere to get more info before the purchase. I don't think the other pieces aside from the Lochness would have a huge value, the jester torso appears to be hand painted, the beret has injection marks and no logo and the helmet is crudely done as well and even glued. If it wasn't for the Lochness, I'd assume they were poor fakes or cut up pieces. The Lochness looks like a real Lego piece though, and it might be the only one for all I know.

He has a connection to a designer from the Lego group during that time, but no documentation to go along with the pieces.

I'll level with you, it isn't worth it. One side is you can take it and sell it right away and you'll be fine because the money will be back so fast. The more likely result is that you'll keep the parts and never use them for much. If you can figure out a way to make money and keep them then do that. But you shouldn't waste that much money on parts that can't even be counted as real in a MOC. End of the night, do it if you're confident you'll sell them.

if the sea serpent is verifiability legit (which it sounds like this is, based on this guys word and history, but you'd need to verify it somehow), I fully believe that it could go for $3-5000 by itself. about 10 years ago I met a couple who collect rare/misprint/prototype lego elements and some of the shit apparently goes for even more than that, but it's a very small group of people who are very secretive of what they have, and sales are done privately. I've seen things that don't exist on the internet and are like 1/1, and it was just the stuff they were willing to show me; the rabbit hole for this shit goes far far deeper than you'd ever think, and people have been doing this for like 30+ years.

This set (8630) had a gold machine gun in the promo image but ended up having a gold nozzle gun in the actual set. Lego produced a bunch of the gold machine guns that ended up on Bricklink so it must have been changed pretty late in the process.

honestly a lot of what they showed me was mildly underwhelming, pieces in colors/shades of colors that never got produced, marbled bricks, misprinted pieces, unreleased minifig parts, and short shots. that kind of stuff used to be harder to get your hands on, but has become easier in the years since then. however I got to see the goat (this was about a year before it was even released) but it was moulded in either clear trans or a very very light blue color. they also had a hand moulded prototype of the elephant that came with that one orient set, I was told it was supposed to be in other sets but it was too expensive to make. they also had a couple injection moulds, which I believe are hard to get ahold of. again, this was just the stuff they were willing to show me, a person they didn't know very well, so I can only imagine what they had that they kept from me.
also, I assume they're still around in this community, and possibly even read these threads. if so, hi, you absolutely know it's you I'm talking about, and you probably still remember who I am.

Not by the looks of it. The classic ball joint socket ( https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=92013#T=C ) only has a top and bottom edge on the socket. The ones on >>9447824 have a third strip of plastic through the middle.
Presumably some sort of measure to strengthen the joint without the usual bionicle/hero factory spacers.

What's just some general tips for someone getting back into Lego since they were a kid? I know iys not rocket scientist how to put two blocks together buy I'm just curious what packs or kits out there are worth getting besides just a normal crate. Be it for the cool build in the box or jusy some of the blocks I could use for other things.

Also any general tips for making better builds in general? May I also request some primo Lego memes?
