I want to buy a Megumi Device kit and convert it into a cute boy. I’ve already bought the flat chest part and will buy a more boyish hairstyle on booth soon. What kit do you think could make a good boy? Also if anyone knows any doujin sellers who make a more “masculine” crotch part let me know
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>9448114 There's a seller on BOOTH that's done crotch parts before, but I'm not sure they ever got around to doing reprints. Either which way BOOTH is still probably your best bet since this is still a super niche corner of an already niche hobby.
As for a girl to serve as the base for your project... guess it depends on the kind of attitude and cuteness levels you're going for? Aika and Ayaka would be perfect if you want a shota. Otherwise maybe Hornet since she's got some fun faceplates? Magical Girl might not be a bad idea since she's got that one delinquent faceplate + the bat if you want a boy more along those lines.

As for building customs... you aren't actually going to get around doing some engineering, so it's not like you can just sketch some shapes and have something that's ready for print and assembly in a minute.

>>9448651 >using the prints to make actual casts in more resiliant resin is usually the next step This interests me. I'm getting reliable joints of a reworked Megami assembly with ABS. I have minimal silicone molding experience, so I wouldn't be opposed to try casting some things after further refinements. I know I saw last thread someone was working with green stuff and getting some neat results.

What's the general consensus on 30MM Sisters so far? Saw some pics of broken necks when they first came out, is that a widespread issue?
Anonymous
>>9449959 Solid cheap customization fodder, but on their own they are generic designs & come with very little.
Anonymous
>>9449543 It's a matter of scalability, which Koto can't afford compared to a giant like Bandai. They've been very much aware of the ""competition""
Anonymous
>>9449763 They literally look like any other mecha musume hands.
Anonymous
>>9449959 Probably a good choice if you just want the bare doll with the bare essentials. It's not like Koto, Volks or Mat@ngo can beat Bandai in pricing.
Though it's as the other guy said, Bandai still seems to suffer from design by committee and Koto's apporach of inviting external folks, who sometimes have a decade-spanning obsession with 12th scale plamo dolls or mecha musume, seems to yield overall more interesting results but as far as cheap and decent dolls go, it's hard to compete with Bandai on any level.
Remember that cast metal MD hip-calf connectors are still popular aftermarket upgrades, so it's not like the other lines are all perfectly rugged.
Anonymous
>>9449967 Bandai has an issue where they make parts fatter to accomodate their polycap system and it seems to strike once again with those hands.
Either that or they are awkwardly trying to represent gloved hands there.

There is a visible mold line running around the edge of the ball making it too tight, sanding it off makes the heads move very smoothly. Some may not like the offset shaft of the neck, but it isn't as severe as people make it out to be.
>>9449963 I wouldn't necessarily say generic, bare bones certianly, but the main three girls all have quite nice designs in my opinion.
>>9449991 If your looking for a body, the aoi kits are definitely better in every way except maybe price, 30ms kits are absolutely not set up to have clothing with all the greebles that cover them.
>>9450012 Richetta is definitely the best one so far, with Luluce and Taisha coming after in that order. Richetta is very mod friendly and can get a whole lot of poseability out of some simple cuts. Luluce has a bit of a ckin problem but is very good in general. If you have a dremel you can free up her upper torso movement and get her maybe more torso movement than Richetta's gets. Taisha's torso sucks. Her limbs are fine though, and the little boot cuff she has on her thigh is neat.

People want extra faceplates and hands for their MD/FAGs. They have the resources to make replacement breasts, thighs, and MSG parts few people buy but they cant do extra faces and hands? Even Volks does that. In reality, Koto makes more money if they force you to have to buy a whole new kit.

The final product is a mixed bag. The lack of very expressive shoulders seems a choice done for cost interests, as are the hips. The articulation isn’t bad, but it’s not at the level of its contemporaries and it only becomes more problematic with the addition of armor. I really do think Bandai will need to do a body revision at some point if they want to keep pace, but it’s not an awful start.

1) Are there any good tutorials on how to add more details to the hair? I was thinking of using scriber (I have the tamiya one and some chinese with multiple blades of varying thickness) but maybe it won't look natural because it was intended for flat panel lines? 2) I'm going to paint a kit, what will look better, pre-shading with darker and "redder" fleshtone (c112) and then painting the rest with lighter fleshtone (c111) or painting in a single tone and using pigments instead? Also, are there any good shading references for the best natural look?

How's the quality of the chitocerium kits just straight built? I've never built any mecha musume kits before, but the accessories on the adamas look nice and the whole fitting back into the stand thing seems neat so I was thinking about giving it a shot.

So I just got my payment confirmation for this set, is anyone else planning on picking up pic related? Upon looking at promo pics, I honestly feel like this entire package is too good to be true. >>9473614 What exactly did you do with the knee? Seam line removal should NEVER make a part loose since it doesn't alter joints or connection points in any way. If anything the part was already going to be loose because of simply losing the mold lottery. Just tighten things up by adding material to either the peg for the knee or the knee's holes. If they're REALLY loose then add something like sprue glue and sand into shape as necessary.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>9474926 I'm used to the MD girls where the knee joint sockets are a singular piece and can't be affected but the Chitocerium girls had knees joints that needed to be built around the pegs for the thighs and shins. My current theory is I didn't apply enough pressure when wielding the front and back halves of the knee together so the socket shape is distorted but it's hard to tell without being able to see a vertical slice of the leg. I didn't test snap them together before so I don't know if they were going to be loose regardless of the seam wielding. I could pry the knees apart again and add material.

Anonymous
>>9478722 For the most part she's a great kit. Greifen herself is an interesting experience since she's really not like most of the other girls. I mean, look at her, she's built like some sort of Mega Man X female, proportionally speaking. The weapons are neat, and the power armor bits are pretty cool. The only aspect that's universally viewed as bad is how the power armor's legs attach. They attach in such a way that articulation is hindered more than it needs to be. Other than that she's pretty great. She's not exactly Durga-tier in terms of quality, but she's a memorable build nonetheless.
