Seeing Phlogeus makes me kinda regret not getting Aethon from the stock sale since now I sort of want the Four Horses of the Apocalypse, unrelated to MLs. If only there was some good 1:12 cowboy figures.
Speaking of didn't they mention once that they plan to do a 4 pack of the horsemen in the future once all of them are released? I wonder if they'd do something like that for the horses.

I know that feel. I skipped Illythia's horse because Aethon was huge and space is already at a premium, but Poxxus' pony looks really rad. Now I need to decide if I should skip it or have one random horseless horseman.

I think the biggest disappointment with this wave was no the 2.0 body didn't get any new parts the way the 1.0 did in the previous 2 waves did.

That body really could have used a doublet, gambeson, brigandine, chainmail, new breastplate, cloth arms and legs, and male version of Artemyss' shirt.

This would have been the best wave to get some new parts that could be reused for thieves, rogues, rangers, and the like. Instead we got a bunch of OK looking soft goods, which I really hope doesn't stain the way Figma's has on me.

I didn't bother getting the first two riders and steeds, but I am considering getting Poxxus without the horse.

I'm trying to decide if I'll be happier with some figures from this wave, or getting more legion builders next year.

They already used the death horse head for a horse man ogre, so I wouldn't be suprised if they didn't do the same thing for the other horseman horse heads and the moose. There's also the yakman from the box art.

The lack of new 2.0 style parts has been a huge disappointment for me. The wizards were a great place to come up with something new, but we don't even know what torsos and gear they have under the robes outside of the old dude's armored pants.

Even the wizard girl could've had something new besides the basic armor she was weaing. Hell, even the bare limbs would've worked better then the overused 2.0 armored limbs. While it's great to see the 1.0 library updated, the 2.0 stuff really needs the same treatment.

....though the new Brute size class is pretty interesting, and a great way to get more use of that centaur torso they came up with.

They admitted that they focus on aesthetic over articulation in the Poxxus live stream, and also said that double elbows/knees would have hindered the modularity of the figures.
Would a slightly improved range in the elbows of 1.0 figures be nice? Yes definitely. Do I want to see ugly ass double jointed limbs? Hell no. But if they could do what Hasbro has apparently done with >90° on single jointed elbows, I would be stoked, as long as it didn't affect the aesthetic of the figures.
I find it hilarious that people would prefer their figure to look like pic related.

You think single joints with a massive cut in it are better than double joints? To get good range out of a single joint there has to be compromise. Look at Figma or other imports, usually there's a big disk or ball protruding from the elbow. In Hasbro's case, they just make a huge cut down the forearm so there's a bit more clearance. No matter what, functionality has a cost.

In your example I'd much rather the Tigra's articulation, even more so for a sword wielder like Psylocke.

This excuse for not updating being "modularity" is actually a pretty shit excuse, since they're not really modular like actual modular lines, since they also dropped modular scheme when they dropped it being 1:18. They were supposed to be modular like the Gylos.

To say it's modular is like saying GI Joes are modular. Only accessories are meant to be swapped, like helmets, backpacks, hats, or webgear. Everything else is engineered to not pop off without considerable force, just like the Mythic Legion stuff. Stresses the shit out of the plastic. True modularity also has engineering to withstand that swapping, like Takara's Diaclone or the Snapships line.

But that's not true? Popping stuff off is easy, especially Arethyr wave stuff, I should know since kit bashing is the main thing I do with this line.
Some older figures are hard to pop apart from the get go but all those need is a little bit of heat and they come off easily.

It may not be the most spectacular head change in the world, but I think it's a very useful feature for a long haired character that wears a hood. The default hair is neat and stylish and lets the hood fit well around it, and then the other hair is flowing more loosely (including towards the back in order to help tucking the hood under it) without going full shampoo ad levels of spread.

Well shit, i can do the same thing with my Marvel Legends too, but to call them modular? A stupid lie, especially since you do not want to be heating any joints up on a regular basis. It's worse than leaving them out on a shelf that faces the sun 12 hours a day.
Once or thrice is fine, but you're decreasing the longevity of your toy by 10x to get the plastic pliable enough to bend. Nevermind shit's just easier to break when it warm, increasing the chances of you hamhanding it, unlike real modular toys that don't need to be abused to interchange parts.

I own more than 5 figures who don't just pop apart like that.
Maybe SOME parts fall off all too easily, like wrists, but i sure as fuck never considered that a feature. Spinning that as a "feature" is a laugh. Like the shitty loose hips, that's just poor QC/engineering. You need to only look at the peg designs to realize it wasn't mean to just pop apart like actual modular lines.

Considering that Tigra's elbow doesn't look remotely like what a human elbow looks like, yes, a slightly larger cut like Psylock would be superior to hideous double jointed elbows. No matter what, there has to be a compromise. The biggest hindrance to the 1.0 knight's elbow is the rubber elbow armor between the bicep and forearm. About the elbow, if the figure had elbow armor, which lots of Mythic Legions have, you wouldn't even be able to see the double joints. Not to mention the modularity could just be up at the bicep instead of the elbow. Or even do those funky elbows like NECA does, which has swivels at both ends, and that could unplug at both the top or the bottom. I'm buying the NECA Gargoyles, but I still don't like the elbows on Goliath. The knees look alright, but the elbows have the deep cut and still don't look like an elbow should when bent, so they look meh no matter what position they are in. Maybe they could retain the aesthetic with the ideas you had, but chances are that they would still look shit. 90% of double joints do. But I have gotten most non dwarf figures to two hand a great sword. They can't quite swing it over their head though.
The Ravens had double jointed elbows, but they are slightly hidden by the feathers sticking out the back of the forearm. They look alright apart from the visible pins. Not great. Alright. And that's as good as double jointed elbows ever get. I've never seen one that made me go "that's amazing." There's always a compromise. 4H decided on form over function for Legions. And it was the reason I started buying them. They look good.

I also forgot to mention that the QC for the joint tolerances in Covenant of Shadow and the first run of Advent of Decay was fucking abysmal. I also hate that they don't include both old and new shield handles with every shield so you can have the choice of it being wrist mounted or hand held. There is a lot of criticism they deserve. Like only doing hand packs 5 years into the line. I want my Sir Iggy to be able to point his sword, but the only hand packs are either bare or gloved, not armored. 5 years to get up/down hinges on the wrists. Maybe in another 5 years we'll get shitty looking double jointed elbows to please the poselets.

All these years into the line and you'd think people would come to terms with what the line is.
They aren't going to make the figures more articulated, 2.0 if the best you're going to get in that regard, sure it would be nice but it's obvious they would rather focus their attention of improving sculpt and individual parts which has been steadily improving (in the last thread we had a whole discussion about how good the new figures look compared to the old ones).
At the end of the day that's what it is, there is no point shouting out each other and calling each other names over it.
I'm far from a 4HM loyalist, I have a lot of criticisms of the company but I do enjoy their work but I'm certainly not buying them for their articulation since I have my imports for that.

I get paint shipping inside joints, but that's pretty much not noticeable. My complaint is the friction based pop and swap nature 9f the line means I keep ending up with kinda floppy hips after a bit of rigorous posing. And the inconsistent tightness of some other joints, primarily the hip hinges from 2.0

My Malleus from 1.0 had the paint strip off the knee joint the first time I moved it, and it pissed me off because the insert molded joint was such a different color from his bone color. And the 1.0 barbarian had some paint chip around the shoulder joint which was really disappointing. There might be one or two other early figs that had a minor chip, including Otho (goddamit) but nothing since around Covenant of Shadow or Coliseum wave.

And yeah, sometimes the joint tolerances can be a bit lose. But I think, not counting CoS wave where they were abysmally lose, the only figure I've had out of the packet with lose hips was Purppplor, which I mentioned a few threads ago. I did notice today while unpacking one of my 12 Red Shield Soldiers has a slightly lose shoulder, but nothing drastic. He can still pose without his arm drooping. So that's 2 figures out of I don't know, close to a hundred that have had a QC issue, and it's not even that bad.
But yeah, all the shoulders, hips and ankles from that first run of AoD were abysmal. The hips especially since moving the leg out to the side would deform the socket. I still need to hit some of them with some shock oil. I honestly don't know how they passed QC out of the factory. It's the one time I regretted funding a Kickstarter, since anyone who got in on the second run had mostly perfect figures.
And also, the Ogres sucked. I'm glad it should be fixed for the vamp ogre, but like I said earlier, I don't know why a company with the words "Toy Design" in their name thought that was acceptable. I still have Shadow Equaddron in packet because it's just not worth risking snapping the hip.
How's that for being a 4H shill?

For me Poxxus is the one I'm skipping in favour of the other cooler characters, there are just a bunch of design quirks that I'm not a fan of like the entire thing on his back, the halo is neat in concept but looks awkwardly placed and I think the horns coming out of the head to make a crown are a bit much.

I'm digging the dark wizard dude, and his alternate head is awesome. Must get.
Aracagorr is cool, but would have preferred a 1.0 lizardman using the Olek Thygar torso. Still a must get.
Poxxus is a bit busy, but im sure I can take half of that shit off him. The insect wings feel too low to be practical, and i would happily ditch the halo to raise them up. The sculpted detail is amazing on the actual figure though. Really impressive. Definite buy along with Phlogeus, who looks almost exactly as i was expecting.
Djinn is nice and unique. Maybe, but up there.
Azzazazazzazzahar is in the same boat as the Djinn. The flame effects are pretty cool.
Thraice is cool but a bit boring. I like the different hair on the alternate head sculpt, but the facial expressions aren't distinct enough. One is a bit sterner than the neutral one, but it's a very subtle difference. I like her, but don't love her.
Still unsure on the Brute scale for the orc shaman, and his face is kind of derpy, like he's got a chromosomal disorder.
Not really amazed at all by the good wizards. I'm fine with one looking swarthy, but both feels like overkill. I like Samir more than Zende, but it's mostly for the robes, accessories, and Gandalf aesthetic. Zende will probably get scrapped for fodder. His parts feel more valuable than the figure as a whole.
The weapons and magic effects are cool. I can give some of the previous wizards from these 2 factions a visual makeover. Though I wish the magic staffs were separate from the cool shit I do want. I would have bought a bunch of the smaller accessory packs just to make an alchemist's lab. But I don't need 4 of every staff.
Couldn't really give a fuck about the hands pack. It feels like an afterthought.

At this point if funds allow, I will go all in. If not, the top 6 are the priority. I don't think I will get any extras, mainly because international shipping is rape. I really would love to get extras of both magic effects packs, and Aracagorr.

Now that the ogres have improved hips, I'm actually considering the dragon man. On the other hand, I'm sure they'll have some kind of repaint of him later on.

I'm going to wait and see what the other figures have in terms of extra heads.

I think she looks better with the bare arms, but personally I'm not sold on the bare feet. It has the same problem as that vampire grunt where the fully armored legs just clash with the unarmored feet. Plus I just feel they look too clean for a goblin, especially compared to the standard armored goblin feet which suits them so well.

All of the new Poxxus parts are just fantastic, and much like the new Brigandine body, I hope this scale mail and the zombie arms get used multiple times in the Skeleton v Knights wave. I guess they're both works in long progress. I do really like the Urkzaa's head on this chest with the color. So whatever the rest of her body parts will end up being will be built around that. The weird thing about him is that I don't see him fitting in with Leodysseus. Most of the Leodysseus faction have red or dark steel to tie them together as a unit. Otho, with his blue tunic and silver armour just doesn't look like he should be there. He stands out, but not in a good way. I think that is the reason we are getting a second version of him.

The cool thing is you could easily mix and match the flesh.
Like my plan is:
Right arm: flesh upper arm, bone lower arm and hand
Left arm: full bone arm and hand
Right leg: flesh upper leg with boot
Left leg: bone upper leg with bare foot being dragged
There are a lot or combinations so if they made a zombie legion builder and release it with a new skeleton you could add a lot of variety to your undead army.

I have updated the checklists and made a few changes, the main one being the update to the key, it now lists the meaning of the coloured borders just to make it more clear. Purple = All-Star release, dark green = Reinforcements release and pink = PO bonus. Sorry if this means people will need to refill their lists.
I have also rearranged the Arethyr and Illytha waves to be similar to the earlier waves which I will be doing from now on. Now waves will be ordered figures > hands/feet/wings > weapons/accessories > PO bonus.

Depends. Paint rub is very common in mythic legions, you need to properly sand the clearance away. I personally think the texture on the clothed shoulder/hips would make the new parts, especially the extremities like arm and leg challenging to customize, unless you want to dye your figures darker color.

I'll be honest, I kinda agree. Sometimes their head sizes and proportions can be pretty wonk. It's mostly on the bare human heads, as the helmeted ones usually work fine. But imo, the worst case is on the armored Gwendolyn head. From the front it's great, but from the side, it's literally all face with the tiniest, almost flat back of her head. The large visor just serves to make it look even smaller. It's like she's not even wearing a helmet, it's just growing out of her face.

I still love the figure overall though, she's super regal and her giant plume is super impressive and really pops against the gold armor. But that one aspect of her is a bit of a let down.

Apart from the frog mouth helm, the helmets are too small, and the bare heads are too big. Which is funny considering 4H shrunk down Otho's head after complaints during the Kickstarter, and he still has a huge noggin. It's one of my biggest issues with the line, but i guess it gives characters like Magnus more presence.

Yes they come with those effect parts in the images. The ones in the effects accessory packs are mostly different colours from what i remember.
For example, Arrizak's lightning is red, while it's blue in the good effects pack, and purple in the evil one. And Zende's spells are blue while they are green in the good pack and red in the evil pack.

These seem ok. The thickness and finish of the edges appear a bit offputting, but I'll have to see. I might be pleasantly surprised with them in hand and I wonder how well the wires can be managed to give them a natural look. The Gandalf-like one looks quite puffy with so many layers of fabric on top of each other in some of the pictures.

The entire cloth skirt piece is from the LotR Toybiz King Aragon set with the horse. The figure itself is kind of crap, but both his cape and his skirt fit Legions really well and the horse is fantastic, though much smaller then the 4H's own warhorses.

Honestly that's a saving grace in my opinion, if they're going to do a con exclusive every year I'd rather it be something mundane that doesn't scream "must get", I would hate it if they made important characters con exclusives or ones with brand new parts.

If they are done in a different decos, which I'm guessing they will be, I want Sir Gideon in RSS steel, Vitus in gold, and Calavius. It would be nice to get things like the armet helm in gold for the Gold Knights, and the bucket helm in silver, but that's a bit pointless since they didn't make the cut for the reinforcements.

If you can do it, the horse is great and you can pretty much strip the figure of all of his clothes and gear to use on Legions figures with a bit of modding. I managed to get a group of four of the rider sets for 120 shipped on ebay. Seeing as they go for 40-60 each and it had some of the more unique looking mounts, it ended up being a steal on my part.

The horses aren't as good as the 4H one, but they're still really good and don't hog up as much space as them so they work great for cavalry units. Pic related is a sort of indirect comparison

No, they are sculpted to the helmet, and are much thinner than the modular horns. It's the only thing I dislike about him. But his jaw is articulated, which makes up for it.

Yeah planetarydogtoys and noble bear customs are the two sites that are decent. They have limited window to order, but at least they open once a month and the whole catalog is on sale. MAFC, Wolfkingcustoms rotate their items to create artificial scarcity.

Yeah the one going up is the one they were selling at the con that comes in a special box and has the skeleton head, they're going to be selling the standard one at the a later date without the head in larger amounts.
Said skeleton head is also coming in a head pack so I wouldn't worry about trying to get the overpriced con version unless you really want the box.

Do you mean the actual neck part? Double no, neck pegs can't swap between 1.0 and 2.0.

Gonxx and the Deluxe Goblin Legion Builder have a special neck that fits into 1.0 bodies but the ball on top fits 2.0 heads.

Bog/Helphyre goblins have a special neck part that just pegs into the hole of 1.0 bodies.

Minotaur/cat people have a special shoulder part that just sits on top of the muscle body.

Yeah, the female tabard body doesn't have any extra ports outside of the one for the pauldrons and wing adaptors.

I don't have those particular parts, but most of the 1.0 pauldrons can still fit on 2.0 bodies. It should fit if you have her with the sugar loaf helm on. Her hair might caught on the bigger pauldrons if you use her unhelmeted head.

Personally i would make the tape/strings thinner. Google some eyepatches for reference, almost noone use thick tape like material IRL. You can try to shrinkwrap your goblin head (so the clay wont stick), then use thin black sewing string, make a three way knot, and sculpt/add clay onto the knot

The Sons are supposed to be a faction with a diverse and unique mix of races and characters. But currently, it's half skeletons with three of em using the same exact head. Half the figures in that faction fit better in other groups as far as I'm concerned, and this exclusive specifically is just all kinds of boring. At least the Mustard Knight made a great re-use of a unique head, sadly everything else about him came out pretty boring.

I could write a whole essay on some of the awful choices the 4H make in building their factions, but in the end, I just make my own. It works out a lot better this way, as I could entirely avoid factions I don't care about and don't really need to collect "important leaders" who are actually just boring figures.

But you're right though, it is may more fun putting together your own factions. I almost always take toy lore as optional, like you're free to use it, use parts of it or completely ignore if you want.
That said my factions are kinda boring, aside from the generic Orc/Goblin Legions I have a horde of contracted demons lead by Gorgo (or will be once that pack ones out) and a generic evil faction lead by Keltuss (I'm not a MOTU fan, I just like having a cast if MOTW stule villains for my heroes to fight).

While I did grow up with MotU, and actually do like the concepts and characters, I don't actually have *any* MotU figures outside of a few from the 20XX series. But the 4H homages are almost always great figures and I picked up a bunch of them just because of how unique they are compared to the rest of the line. Keltus specifically makes for a fantastic Skeleton Lord.

As for the factions I've made, I kept them pretty simple as well. I have two factions of humans, one mostly Knights, the other mostly "soldiers", though I'm sort of tempted to make them one big group. There's also my growing faction of Forest people. Basically it's just all furries and knife-ears, so nothing really unique about them. Rounding out my "good guys" is my small group of Barbarians and Dwarves, though I really do need to start building this group up more.

For my badguys, it's even more cut and dry. I have a Skeletion Army, my small Sons of the Red Star group and a Savage Horde once led by Gorgo, but now under the control of Arethyr himself. Though I will admit, this group has grown a bit too big and I've been thinking of having Gorgo break off with a contingent of his personal elite. One that opposes both the main human armies and Arethyr's more evil intentions.

The fact that Gorgo rescued Jjuno for as of yet unexplained reasons always made me think maybe Gorgo isn't as pure evil as his bio seems to imply. So him breaking off with his most loyal followers would make for a pretty interesting group as they wouldn't really fit in with the direct good guy/bad guy dynamic.

It is weird. Not that the Cosmic Legions progress bar was any less weird. There was never any clue as to how many preorders were required to unlock the next level. Just that the bar was progressing.
And I wish they would at least say what figure has potential unlocks, even if they keep the unlocks themselves a secret. It could result in more preorders for that figure.

The Reinforcement wave, with the black knight and deluxe barbarian are just going to be dropped onto the store, and considering how fast a lot of Arethyr sold out, I'm fearing there's going to be a lot of pissed off people.

I decided I was happy waiting for the regular release and the head pack.
The bigger question is what the go with the head pack will be. They mention in the vid it's still going ahead, but I wonder if the Skapular head in that will still be in the same deco? Or will they drop the Skapular head completely?

I suppose we're far enough from it happening now that I can admit that they accidentally gave me like 10 of the Sword Horsemen accessories in one of my shipments. I had only ordered one. I didn't want to say anything cause I was afraid people were going to get shortshifted or something.
