Are you guys regularly visiting Toy stores?
Which sections/toy-types are most important/interesting to you?

Europe literally kept Toys R Us with barely any downsides, Smyths just bought up every store they owned and barely changed anything. (except retarded cgi kid)

I go to ‘Toys from the Past’ in Lincoln, NE. They have three locations now and have new and older stuff. Nice finding stuff from the 90s that I never got to own or damaged figures for cannibalizing in custom projects.

They have the most retarded supply chain you wouldn't believe.
Sell 5 of a particular toy the system automatically orders 15 more.
The extra stock backs up and the floor staff have to reorganize the layout to accomodate everything.

Touristing here but I'm surprised how bad toy shops are now. When I was a kid in the Norf we had "Toy & Hobby" which sounds generic but they had entire lines of everything basically. Stuff like Star Wars or He-Man was floor to ceiling. Toys R Us was physically bigger but Toy & Hobby had, what I'd call now, much better buyers, you wanted everything they stocked to some degree. The idea of not being able to find something would have struck me as bizarre.

I'm very late to the debate around this but something has gone badly wrong. I know TRU was fucked early when they couldn't keep Lego stocked properly. Lego are famously not into extending credit and will even hold back stock if they think someone is in trouble. They'd rather piss someone off and have the sets to sell elsewhere. Thats the strength of their brand - any given Lego set will sell to someone somewhere at full price, they don't have to beg.
