Lots of toys I'd want from the series. I know people want the classic looks but I actually want the unique looks (that I liked) from the show. We're bound to see another MAA, another Teela, another Evil-Lyn, etc, so if they have looks exclusive to the show, like MAA's makeshift gear, or Teela or Lyn's Sorceress attires (or both their super forms), I'd be all for it. Randor with sword and pistol would make for a cool figure too.

Since near 100% the two "mystery figures" in wave 4(?) are Sorceress of Zoar Teela and Sorceress of Horokoth Evil-Lyn (which is why they were hidden, because spoilers), I'm not holding my breath for a Masterverse Oracle or pre-cataclysm Orko (as he'd probably have to be a pack-in with another figure again). Would like a Nendo Oracle, fat fucking chance on that, though.
- I want the answer to one question: WTF is Evil-Lyn doing on Trolla?
- Yeah, but my chances are nil, since they're all collection white whales.

OG and She-Ra can be on the next level. I can't really judge NA since I haven't seen it in full, but from what I've seen (I think 6 or 7 episodes) it'd be last. Origins has a bunch of issues even taking into consideration its more modest ambitions, but it's also carved a niche and has made some savvy decisions that endear me more to it.
Anonymous
>>9465214 >but that's just storytelling becoming a bigger focus Yeah, for sure - even the 2003 cartoon is somewhat of a midpoint in that shifting approach. My point was that perhaps part of why the new show received a lot of praise here is that it was more on a level with the more well-regarded entries in the franchise than we (or at least I) expected from initial leaks. The total lack of promo hype and/or anything to live up to will likely have helped, too.

It even further reminds me of Animated, because people got so up in arms about how different it was, but once it aired it turned out to be a good show. For most anyways.
I am a bit surprised at how willing some seem to be to accept these changes though, especially when a haircut for Teela in Revelation threw so many into a rage, compared to a new Teela not remotely like the original in the CGI show. I don't mind new interpretations like that (probably why I just took Revelation Teela for what she was and wasn't expecting her to be anything but that), but I am surprised it seems like the majority were so open to it as well.

>>9465255 >>9465289 Advertising probably played a large part when looking between Revelations and CGI. To me Revelations suffered from too much "creator advertising" as I would call it where a company or creator lets slip too many personal details behind a project, decreasing the intrigue and mystery for said project to simply stand on its own and be judged accordingly. Insignificant details like "We made all the women bulkier because X" are ultimately irrelevant because it has no bearing on the plot/writing/characters yet gets pushed as if it's actually something important to discuss. Same goes for anyone who tries to advertise LGTBQ+ or skin color as some sort of selling and brownie point when nobody in their right mind gives any iota of fucks about that person's sexuality or race
As far as I could see there wasn't really much advertising, creator or otherwise for CGI so that plays into less "baggage" when stepping into watching it. That along with the radically different interpretations of the characters and concepts made it much easier to swallow and ultimately accept. The humor can be a bit childish here and there but ultimately I think it knew to have fun when poking fun at itself and other franchise aspects.

Not crazy about some of the choices they made -- Evil-Lyn coming onto Skeletor, the "take my point" dick pun, the "killing everyone in Heaven" thing, also Skelegod's armor is really lame. But at least Clownfish TV and their retarded band ragecucks get it on the chin for being wrong about the arc of the show -- and wasting months of time sperging out over nothing. 200X is still the best. It's got everything you could want. Kino aesthetic, more serious AND more lighthearted but always in the right places, more time spent exploring the other characters' origins and homeworlds (yes, 200X did that before Kevin Smith), and some great arcs about the origin story, the Horde, and the Snake Men. The toys were also excellent.

https://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2006/september/34.125.html >This book tells the disturbing yet redemptive story of how, by God's grace, an atheist, pedophile, and mass murderer repented and believed in Jesus Christ. Roy Ratcliff—the erstwhile preacher-turned-prison-minister who baptized Jeffrey Dahmer—discovered through him this deep sense of grace that flies in the face of our compunction to condemn, voiced by one college professor who said, "If Dahmer's in heaven, I don't want to be there." >Ratcliff says he became convinced of Dahmer's sincerity during seven months of prison visits. "I feel very, very bad about the crimes I've committed," Dahmer told Ratcliff. "In fact, I think I should have been put to death by the state for what I did." A fellow inmate killed Dahmer in 1994. >Ratcliff called Dahmer by his first name, Jeff. "He became a real person to me, so I referred to him the same way I would anyone I knew personally," Ratcliff said. "He was ready to die. I was the one who was unprepared." I guess what I'm saying is, from a plot point and in context, it's retarded.

I realized in reading through the thread how pointless it will ultimately be to discuss revelations. Like with everything else in modern society nowadays, your opinion on some ultimately forgettable product will come to color people's idea of you no matter what. So instead of taking that route, I rather ask this. /MOTU/, what is your ideal iteration of MOTU? For me, I'll always fall in the no-man's land between the mini-comics and filmation. This is pretty much why I hold 200X and the Freddie Williams comics in such high regard. Both works present Eternia with a perfect balance of cheesy charm and serious appreciation that is rarely seen in other iterations. Every other show/comic either skews too goofy or too serious for my tastes. i guess I ultimately just want a kind of "evergreen" iteration of the franchise. A He-man for all seasons in a sense.

Now that I think about it, yeah, i do think they had a whole peg of the Revelations ones (Skeletor, Whiplash). I think this was their big Black Friday restock where they filled all the pegs (except for Star Wars, which is rarely stocked). The only thing missing from the current lineup (and i mean new stuff, so no Greyskull) was the Wind Raider and Wave 2 of Masterverse, but based on shelf space there really isnt anywhere to put them. Can't wait for all that Space Jam and Ghostbusters stuff to be removed.
This post is getting long, but I want to add one more thing. When I post my haul, I'm not doing it to rub in that I have something or to brag. Im sorry if that's how it comes off, but I post the haul because I want to show off that Brick and Mortar retail is still viable, and that if you miss something online that IRL stock is showing up. Though, at least for some of the heroes,I feel like they got the character traits pretty well compared to Filmation, just turned up a few notches. Teela was extra headstrong and stubborn, Adam was still extremely heroic in his actions, Duncan was a father figure and inventor and man of action, Orko with his good intentions but inability to do right (until his shining moments, anyways). The villains felt a bit more different in their portrayals, like Evil-Lyn was the one to call Skeletor a boob rather than him to his henchmen, and obviously the verbal and physical abuse being portrayed much more aggressively here.

They chose to make him the noble beast (noble simp more like it) which is weird, considering he's a villain. The other option is the savage monster, 'whipped' by Skeletor because he's the Alpha. I assume if there's another season they'll explore him and his motivations more. As is, he came out of nowhere, then basically became Lyn's simp for no explained reason, then after "becoming a beast" for Lyn, was thrown off CG's bridge and was never seen again.

>>9468697 >I keep hearing that some large amount of girls bought MotU toys in the 80s, prompting She-Ra. Is any of that true? Any sources? I find it hard to believe, but maybe I'm just ignorant. I could see Teela and He-Man selling well with both girls and boys, but not so much all the other good and bad guys. Here's the data I could find relevant to that:
Two mid-80s Mattel executives give contradictory recollections of a customer survey reporting what percent of MotU toys were bought for girls.
Lou Scheimer, December 1984: 30% of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe viewers were girls.
Roger Sweet (book and "The Toys That Made Us" episode): MotU sales in 1985 were $250 million. She-Ra toy sales were $58.2 million that year (The She-Ra Collector's Inventory, 2006). Assuming a 1:1 correlation between She-Ra and female MotU fans, that would support a number of 23%.

>>9468745 What could be the reasoning behind girls liking motu anyway? Was it just because it starred a big hunky muscular man?

I suspect it's because they were fun toys

Just opened up Masterverse Spikor, my first figure with this more regular body (previously the non He-Man and Skeletor from wave 1) and I like him a lot. I'm not sure if I just lucked out but all the joints are perfect on him and he moves fantastically. Damn though, his gripping hands are tight as shit, gonna just warm them up to get that mace in there.

Like make the armor the same sculpt in metallic purple and have the clamp mount on his backplate with its head looking over his showwnx4ulder.

Where can I get fists for my He-Man to do >stock wind up punch animation poses?

I know this is a LOP Mer-Man and friends general at this point but, would you guys recommend LOP Beast Man?
Anonymous
>>9469327 Personally, I wouldn't, but that's because I prefer Beast Man in his traditional colors. The sculpt itself is great, way better than wave 1 beast man, but I just can't get over thst they didn't release him in the same colors as the Powercon LoP Beast Man

>>9469364 I started a stream earlier today, but nobody actually joined. I can do one now if people will watch

>>9469346 I think it's in part the small minority of people who whined about MUH EXCLUSIVE after Mer-Man came out with very few changes. I recall some toy YouTube cuck whining about it pretty hard. I have the LoP Powercon set and my girlfriend loved that Mer-Man so I was fucking stoked when they put him out at retail. The decision to make Beast Man red was kinda goofy, like sure those were concept colors, but I don't think anyone prefers red.

>>9469382 Shit anon, I won't be home til like 10:30. You got a discord or anything? I feel like Motu general filmation streaming would be a dope idea on weekends. Holiday special on the 24th would be rad.

>>9469383 I've found that being patient is the key with this line, and I see the LOP boxset as a good example of a prelude to this. Between waves not showing up earlier in the year and FOMO I was very tempted to pay that scalper premium for a few things, especially almost dropping $50 on Mosquitor. But with patients and persistent (and a retail job/too much time), you can own all the non-online exclusive stuff.
Im probably very wrong about this, and i dont disparage others for buying it, but dropping $400 on the LOP boxset with the hindsight that LOP variants can and will be made for mass retail feels to me like paying the scalper price to assure you get something ASAP, versus hunting it down for a retail price and maybe not finding it.
Also, I do like the red paint over the orange. Makes it feel like a different character.
