Hiya Toys is going 1/12 scale with Judge Dredd and Judge Death. Think this might lead to 6 inch Predators and Aliens?

This will be the fourth Dredd and the third Death in this scale, and even though they were all years apart, I can imagine we’ll ever get any other characters besides Dredd and the Dark Judges.

on one hand, i prefer 1:18 scale
On the other hand, i already have Mezco Judge Dredd and 3A Judge Fear and look awfully lonely.

I hope their 6" figures are out of scale, so i don't have to buy both fucking scales.

Given that Hiya toys have been pumping out Predators and Aliens on a pretty consistent basis for years now, I think there's a actually a good chance we'll get a decent selection. Especially considering there are plenty of variant options for Dredd that could make for easy re-use in terms of other Judges, colour variants (you know there's gonna be a black and white variant), even just changing the shoulder pieces and do "artist variants". Plus there are the film versions of Dredd they can release which will sell, Dredd 2012 was pretty popular, and I think enough people have a fondness for the Stallone Dredd that they'd at least pick him up.
There's also not the price barrier that the ThreeA and Mezco figures presented.

I think technically NECA and Lanard have this scale covered, so Hiya toys can't licence it out.

Lanard are... what? And are sold in the children's toy aisle, at mass market stores, and are also Walmart exclusives (?).

So unless NECA worded their contract to encompass all larger scales for the direct market, Hiya can produce 6" figures for the direct market.

I believe that the non-scale Figma Predator was able to be sold/shipped by Good Smile's US store, so it's likely the license is open for 6" figures.

Oh man am I hyped for this! I've become a huge Dredd fan over the last few years, sadly the 3A and Mezco figures have been blowing up in price and all the ones i've seen at a decent price have started degrading.

What can be expected from Hiya Toys? Never really heard of them before, but if they're a decent price i'll definitely be getting the whole series

I see what you mean about his helmet, but there's a lot of styles where he does have the Pinhead look, so it's accurate to certain stories.

Also they've already confirmed Dredd, Death, Fear, Mortis and a Lawmaster, so as long as they sell well i can't imagine Anderson being too far behind.

I know the figures are significantly larger than 6 inches, but I think they're still licensed as 1/12 or 6 inch scale.

Lanard was only contracted to do one wave. I know because I emailed them about. Their Predator figures have been out since what, February? No sign of second wave. I think they're done with it.

They're not.

Licenses are very specific like that, hence McFarlane and Jazwares both making large scale Fortnite figures.
Nevermind that licenses are also split up by where they can be sold (comic shops vs walmarts, etc). This is how DC Collectibles was able to make 6" DC figures while Mattel was also making 6" DC figures.

Lots of different ways for a toyline to be licensed.

I suppose you're right (I didn't even consider retailer exclusivity). Maybe Hiya just didn't wanna compete in the 6-inch market for Alien and Predator. Either way I have very excited for 6-inch Dredd figures to be available again and (hopefully) at a reasonable price.
