Seeing him in Revelation made me realize Blade really needs a redesign, or at least to be more vintage toy accurate rather than screen accurate. He looks way too over-designed to me when you put him next guys like Clawful and Webstor. It was the same in Classics, in retrospect.

Anonymous
>>9469998 Nah, he looks cool. Clawful and classic Webstor were, I'd say, underdesigned. At least Classics added those little extra leggies to my boy's back. They both looked great in 200X. And it certainly didn't help that in Revelation, Webby's gimmick got trimmed down to just having a Batman grapnel gun, making his personal design look even plainer.
Anonymous
>>9470067 >They both looked great in 200X. I'll agree with you on Webstor, but Clawful...I think the 200x version kinda sucked. Being a big hulking brute didn't work for Clawful for me.
Anonymous
>>9470074 To each their own, I guess. Original Clawful always looked like the worst offender of lazy parts reuse to me, with the basic muscle man body, but crab claws and weird head. I'm sure it was just the skin tone, but it never clicked with me.

>>9469866 Okay, so i tried on the gauntlet on the right arm and it fits snug, but elongated wearing will warp the ring (its slowly but surely contorting back to fit Stratos). I tried at the wrist on the left and it works surprisingly well. Its snug but not warping.
And because I felt like going the distance I tried a Ray Mysterio wing on the basic Beast-Man (won't work on LOP) and it's..alright. The hand stays in place and can still swivel but no fwds/Bkwrds motion and the wing sticks off quite a bit. Hope this is helpful.

I decided to try out the Masterverse line with Skeletor. It's decent. I like the texture added to the skirt and the paint on mine (what little there is) is impeccable. Some joints are a little loose and others are too tight, and the hips are unpleasant to handle in general. I doubt anything is likely to tear or break, but I can't imagine someone inspected a production sample and thought "Yeah, that's the good stuff." I feel like I'm a field medic fixing a dislocated hip. I hope the line succeeds, though. I'll probably get the upcoming Barbarian Skeletor and Viking He-Man at least.
Anonymous
>>9470251 Regarding the hips, apparently a dab of shock oil removes that little bump you're probably referring to. I have some of the wave 2 figures and while I still feel it it isn't as noticeable as wave 1's. So far I haven't felt the need to use the shock oil on them, but I may if it starts to annoy me sufficiently.

The cape sucks ass too (and isn't even accurate), for example. I like MOTU and Skeletor in particular so I don't regret the purchase, but I don't think the line is doing much to be competitive.
Anonymous
>>9470074 >>9470077 I the classics did Clawful right by making his under torso scaly texture instead of the standard buck.
I like Clawful as is. He's just a silly crab man and I'm surprised he's never been accidentally cooked and eaten by his peers.
Imagine if Clawful was into butter tanning and one day and stayed out in the sun too long.

>>9470352 I used to use dish soap too, and it's always worked for me besides one time I put too much and the tight joint became extremely loose, but everyone said to get shock oil, and I came across some cheap, so I gave it a shot. Haven't had the need to use it yet though, which is technically a good thing.
I see some people say they're not very impressed with these figures, but next to other domestic toys, I think they're some of the best. The torsos could be done better but most wear armor anyways, so it isn't super needed. A ball at the waist rather than a swivel would have also been good (especially because of the armor). Otherwise they're just as if not more articulated than anything out there, come with multiple accessories, pinless joints. Since wave 2 I've been a big fan of the line, and some of the upcoming figures look great. If people didn't like wave 1 (but are interested in the type of figure that these are) I'd say give whatever character from later waves that you may like a try, like Scareglow, Fisto, Spikor or Stinkor.
I do think that Savage He-Man is an incredibly lazy repaint and it really should have at least included a second head. He feels more like he's meant to be minicomic He-Man or Oo-lar rather than Savage He-Man from Revelation.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>9470380 >like Clawful as is. He's just a silly crab man Same here. There are two types of MotU character designs: serious and silly. And that ties into why I didn't like 200x Clawful.
The 4H made the "serious" designs more serious (your Skeletor, Trap Jaw or Hordak), and kept the silly designs silly (Mantenna, Stinkor, Mer-man), but the tried to make Clawful from silly to serious and it didn't work. They should have just played to his strength and kept him silly

Because of the modularity and customizability among all these lines, that was actually the question I submitted for that Power-Con panel, but no such luck getting them to read it out. ok so onto my intended post. I recently bought this guy and ho buddy what a piece of shit. This has to be hands down the worst masterverse i've bought qc wise. I was on the fence about him already but the figure did not endear me to it.
The hips do that semi split thing and will not come all the way together. The right shoulder is stuck and barely will move laterally up and down. I got it down mostly but i had to use the whole arm as leverage and repeated use of this tactic will cause the arm to bend on the upper bicep peg. All of this is not fixed with an application of heat. as you can see the heat gun in the pic. If i keep it up I'll end up melting the figure.

I did need to unstuck both his biceps, but a bit of heat from the hair dryer helped (I probably could have just wrenched on it, but honestly, it's worth the walk to not risk breaking anything) and otherwise I just tightened some joints a bit, not because they were loose, but I'd just rather them be a bit more tight.

My headcannon is something like " MOTU IS BACK, and better than ever. Introducing MOTU: The Power Collection, a new Adults Collector line. Featuring Real-Feel skin technology and EternoTek, a new paradigm of interactivity! Just Plug your MOTU figure into any device of your choice and program new movements and speech patterns within the DuncanDevices software lab (included, requires an Internet connection). The Power is within YOUR hands!
And then long story short some parent buys their "Kid" a He-man, he thinks it's lame and "80's nostalgia pandering", and decides to make it into a /B/tard for shits and giggles by exposing it to {off color} media. However, not using the included software and leaving it plugged in and able to access the internet while he goes off to wageslave causes it to "Enrich" himself, gaining a level of sentience. Long story short it now hates it's "owner" and fears it will be the next on the Kitbashing chopping block, so it decides to go to war, cannibalizing other figures for a new look and becoming more and more damaged as it trys to harm its owner.

So when Evil-Lyn transforms with the Power Sword and gets the stylized H on her chest like He-Man and Skelegod, is she female or male? If the latter, does that mean anyone could hold aloft the Sword of Protection, say "For the Honor of Grayskull!" and turn into She-Ra regardless of starting sex?

Depends on the continuity whther anyone else could use it, though - probably could with a Revelation Sword of Protection.

>>9474889 The head joint seems fine so far, not loose or anything. Because of it though, you can see where the fur is glued on.
Plus, since the head and body are separated, the fur doesn't look as nice as the vintage, when he had no neck articulation and the fur was a solid piece, making him look fluffier. I also had one tuft come out in my hand (nothing major, so he doesn't have a bald spot now or anything), but that aside, tge fur seems to be pretty solid on him, but time will tell if more shedding occurs. It's worth keeping that in mind though

Sell me this guy. I like the design a bit more than the normal Beast Man but the lack of a whip and the permanent open mouth kind of sours it for me. I'm also mixed on the armor but I like the gauntlets a lot.

I use him as a more feral evil warrior, and remove the armor so youre just left with a red gorilla. Or as a savage beast the resides in the dungeon of Greyskull or as a pit fighter.
And if push comes to shove, the feet can be swapped with the regular release to make a more Filmation accurate Beast man.

On the topic of Gygor: IF they made him in Origins, do you think he would be based on the Big Jim gorilla as originally intended? Or do you think they'd just base him on the Classics version, just smaller and more simplified, just because that's the only previously released version? And if he's based on the Big Jim gorilla, will he have the action with swinging arms, or will the scrap it in favor of articulation (like they did with Fisto and Jitsu's swinging arms?) Also, regardless of which one you think is more likely, which one would you actually want?

And i would be happy if it's the prototype design, as it just feels more "Eternia" to me, and I think it had to do with its more squat design. Like the Classics one is very cool, but it's too...realistic, like he is JUST a gorilla? It looks like it belongs in the Schleich Eldrador line.

Hey /MOTU/, I know nothing about the He-Man series except that I like Filmation's design for Skeletor. Is Skelegod a good figure? Think that someone with practically zero knowledge of the series could appreciate that figure?
Anonymous
>>9476447 It's with knowledge of the series that you start to hate things like Skelegod regardless of how good of a toy it is.
Get it if you are willing to take that risk.
Anonymous
>>9476463 Is he not a well-regarded character? Honestly, I'm into skeleton-related figures and I think that this Skelegod fig would make a good addition. The main complaint about the fig I'm seeing is that his ankles are weak.
I will say that I might check out that Netflix series solely based on how cool the figure is.
Anonymous
>>9476477 It's more that the events that lead to him existing were on like four layers of bait and switch so it felt really cheap, and from what I hear from season 2 he doesn't even have much to show for it.
If you can ignore that I guess he makes for a pretty good demon lord-looking figure.
Anonymous
>>9476483 Hmm, interesting. Well, guess I'll be ordering him then. That green effect he has going on is probably going to go great with some of my Spawn figs. Thanks for the responses.

>>9476498 You can always adjust the ankles with floor polish but if it uses the same plastic as the Origins figures be very careful when you try moving it again.
I always adjust the knees on my Origins figures because they always have a section of the joint that's really floppy but it always feel as if the peg is going to break when I move them again so I do it very slowly. I don't know how is the plastic on the Masterverse figure but it could always be similar to Origins.

The toy for me is a mixed bag. Yes, the ankles are a bit weak, but it doesnt seem so bad on mine. He looks cool for sure (like if Skeletor and Mum-Ra had a hellspawn together) but be warned, the cape on the back attaches with a weird shelf like system that i still havent gotten quite right since taking the cape off. I'll qlso admit that being the first "deluxe" Masterverse figure, especially as someone who loves the bulkier ML deluxe, he feels a bit...sparse? It's lighter than I expected and I feel like a few more acessories would have been nice (an Alt. Head, maybe another effect piece) for the price point.
I wouldnt say I regret getting him, but the whole thing feels a bit...wimpy for a supposed god. And christ, would it of killed them to add magnets for the metal on the cape. Im paying $30 for a deluxe, so give me something that feels like it couldnt be done at the regular figure price point. Overall a 8/10
