The SDCC Channel 6 set is shipping now and has arrived at most homes already. This set is hitting Targets soon, probably within the next week or two more than likely.

I literally just watched Robocop this evening. I won't lie, that likeness is pretty good, but it looks like the same basic mold they've used before and I hate hate hate that figure. Had the Mega Drive flamethrower version and it was awkward to pose even by Robocop standards. And then it took a shelf dive (from the one pose it could actually accomplish) and exploded. I'll probably go with the Mafex assuming I can find one.
That being said, how's the NECA ED-209? I'm not ultra anal about scale so I imagine it should look OK next to the Mafex Robocop?

ED's pretty great, but it's very much a display piece. There's not much articulation in the legs other than basic posing/stand there and look menacing. The details on it are really nice though.

I got my Channel 6 set in over the weekend. It's really exciting adding these characters finally. I remember as a kid I never got any of the "Toon" figures like Burne, Irma, or Vernon, so this makes up for that.

The leg gimmick and a piston broke so I guess I'll take the ultimate.

I've got several of the figure with the spring leg mechanism and it's never been fragile for me. Never had a problem with the pistons either really. But how could you not want to display it with a Peter Weller head? I just think it's too fucking cool looking.

The hinge that the piston was attached too on his heal broke, and the spring mechanism didn't snap but popped out of place and I can't get it back in where it's supposed to be since the thing that popped out is deeper in his leg.

I get that the suit was clunky but I feel like he could go more than 45. Or atleast a toy of him should be able to, like the MAFEX. This pic has him bending his elbow a lot. Would be cool if we could recreate it.

The thing that make me most upset is the complete lack of elbow articulation. No elbow joint whatsoever in 2021 is just being lazy.

IIRC, and I'm too lazy to break it out, the way the Hot Toys did the arm articulation was make a small joint break in the forearm after the elbow t give it more of a curve.

That's not a reason to release an outdated figure. It's not an excuse to put out a figure with zero wrist articulation, 45 degree elbow, no ankle pivot. Can't even sit in his chair properly in the promo pic, and definitely won't be able to hold the big gun properly.

They can release a Robocop figure that's up to date for the people who missed out AND didn't miss out. They're just being lazy. It's not like they even had to start from scratch, just update the old figure, but nah they just include a new head.

It is pretty lame considering they normally redid the poor articulation of their older figures when adding them to the ultimate line. I guess because he barely moves in the movies they don’t feel they need to. I’ll just stick with the mafex but prices shot way up on him over the last year or two so I guess this is newcomers best option.

It has forearm swivel, that's all you need on a character like this. The figure itself is just fine to be rereleased as is. Robocop is a limited movement character, this does what it needs to.

All other current companies that do Robocop put out more articulated figures. Except Super7 since thats a 5poa thing.
We don't need a robocop that moves like Spider-Man but this is below the minimum standard of modern figures.

Does anyone have a size comparison of the Hagane Works Robocop with other NECA figures?

The MAFEX looks cool but most of my collection is 7-8" scale, I hear that the Hagane works is around 7" so I'm interested in checking it out.

Just saw (to my regret) Anthony's review of the Oroku Saki and Hamato Yoshi 2-pack and he spoke about the double elbows, saying that NECA should never use these double elbows, especially on bare flesh, preferring less articulation. He also said, what amounts to his expectation of NECA figures, that they look good but you shouldn't really expect them to be the most articulated figures.

What do you guys think? I think that saying that NECA should just go back to the old way, rather than continuing to try to improve things is such a weird way of thinking.

I do wonder if they're not digging back into the Robocop license. Getting Weller's likeness is a pretty big one, not sure if he's picky about it or just wants a lot of money for it, but it's good to see that's a step we've finally taken and I'd love to see a full Alex Murphy figure. One Walmart finally put something out, yay. That lenticular box sure as hell catches your eye when you first see it, so that's nice.

Love the figure, it's fairly basic, but the details are all very well done, and those heads are fantastic. I only wanted two for these heads, but the "sloth" head and that fuzzy cheeked head are impressive too.
