I’m very excited to have Alley Vipers and BATs in my collection, but I’m getting a little concerned. I’ve gotten Zartan, Commando Snake Eyes, and Barbecue in the last couple days, and they’ve all had the issue with the leg being too tight on the drop down pegs, causing the pegs to strain. I only had this problem with Firefly previously. Obviously there’s a solution of popping off the legs and sanding the pegs but it’s a little irritating to have to do that for every figure now. I don’t even like the drop down hips enough to warrant the trouble.

Most hips on figure like Marvel Legends or Power Rangers Lightning have the hips (made of a front and rear piece of plastic glued together) with a small pin that pokes through the bottom. This pin holds the top parts of both legs in place.

The drop down hips have two pins instead of one, one pin for each leg. They’re still held in place in the same spot, they just are held in place different by a small pin. This lets each leg “drop down” from the hips, giving you a greater range of motion to kick forward and back. Issue is, the pins are smaller than the normal T bar pin, so they’re prone to stress more easily.

Crimson Guard aren't frontline troops, their Bio even says they too special to be used for standard combat roles. They're infiltration sleeper cell units. They move in, blend in, destabilize from within and when the time is right, they reveal themselves to finish off the job they started before anyone even knew they were there. Their uniforms are more ceremonial in design, and they only engage in combat by the time they already won the fight.

Alley Vipers are the troops you send in to an embattled city to just crush everyone in their path and draw all the attention away from the Crimson Guard who are doing the most damage behind the scenes. Crimson Guard are the silent knife at your back slowly pushing it's way in while the Alley Vipers are a punch to your face.

Alley Vipers are the Tanks and the CG are the Rogue doing DPS.

The comics out right called them "the most elite soldiers" in their first appearance and the sleeper agents was a specific type "Fred series" iirc. TV show they did Urban combat and body guard work.

But you don't want to drag in the comics because the Ally Vipers were dumber than rock thugs that were dressed as they were because it was the cheapest way to outfit them and they were so incompetent that they always had to have everything spelled out to them and I think the anon rationalizing things wouldn't like that.

Has it been explained why all the post 89 Cobra Troopers were more or less completely clownish and awful except for the Saw Viper that stands as having the largest kill count of named Joes in the comic.
Saw was a fucking unit of destruction, that got his own god damn arc, while in the same time frame Cobra Commander is screaming at Alley Vipers, Frag Vipers, and others, to stand at attention and they had to ask what that was exactly.
Did Larry just give up halfway through?

Hama started to give up with he learned the leaders of the Crimson Guard were going to be twins that were also circus acrobats, he has never shy away how much he hard trouble taking the series seriously after the first couple of years.Going as far as saying they were clowns but you still had to send out the troops to march.

The CG's Primary function is Undercover Espionage with a secondary in Demolition. They're the unit that hides in plain sight while blowing up specific targets and then blaming the innocent neighbors so they take the fall. By the time a CG puts on his uniform it's already too late.

Yes and can you blame him? Up until DiC era which is what gave us the absurd Alley Viper look the franchise was trying to at least not look like kiddie toys but come the 90s everything was more bright and colorful than a children's day care. I could not take anyone seriously that was bitching Classfied was Fortnight. The brand was Fortnight before it was a thing.

The BAT shit was incredibly easy to find. The Alley Viper's eventual release made me realize that scalpers were buying GI Joes, because despite how awful the GI Joe Vs Cobra Alley Viper was, it was hard as fuck to find.

Look at this piece of shit.
What made him hard to find was the Viper he came with. The Alley viper single pack was never hard to find. Same shit with all the BATs that were produced. The BATS were cool though, but they were everywhere.
Maybe you're talking about one of the earlier releases, which was engineered differently, and was going for crazy prices?

Also the 03 era had a lot of battys and they sold steadily well until 05.

That all said I think we can all agree a 1/12 Robot with swapable hands is going to be a big deal to most collectors Joe or otherwise.
I want to be wrong honestly but I'm trying to stay in reality with all this.

My only guess is they wanted some kind of Joe to be in the case in case a kid in the store would rather have a Joe than a Cobra. Why they didn't change him even a little is beyond me, because at least then they'd rope in the collectors.

I dunno if they're really considered outdated, they use them in basically every gundam kit/figure these days. Its just hard to get the kind of clearance to make them worth the effort on the average human figure, you really need a skirt or cloth goods that hides how much they drop down to get good range out of them without it looking like shit.

BATs are getting a Python Patrol repaint that's exclusive at Target. Alley Viper isn't, so they are making Alley Vipers more per case because he doesn't have a variant that might cause people to skip the regular version like they might with the BAT.

Crimson Guardsman are not shock troops in the traditional sense. They were created BEFORE the Viper troop came out, so they are "shock troops" in the sense that they are superior to Cobra Troopers, Tele-Vipers, and Eels, and Snow Serpents.

As someone else said, they are infiltrators and consists of the higher IQ Cobra henchman variety. All have college degrees in finance and law and tend to be Chad types who Cobra send into locations as infiltrators, spies, and other subtle forms of espionage.

Hama was the one who came up with the whole "same face" thing, which was ignored in the cartoons and UK exclusive comics) and was a lazy ass excuse for Hama to introduce Wade Collins and do a "Cobra Trooper turns good guy" story.

It's been a while but IIRC, it was the cartoon that actually established that the Crimson Guardsmen reporting directly to the Crimson Twins. Hama was the guy who came up with the idea that the Guardsmen were ceremonial bodyguard types (which probably came from the fact that the Crimson Guardsman uniform looks a lot like a Marine's dress blues), which later writers ran with.

The Crimson Guardsman was one of those things in GI Joe I always thought got botched.

Crimson Guard should either be strictly Cobra Commander's personal bodyguards or the highest possible rank you can get in Cobra troop-wise.

Each division of Cobra Troops/Vipers reports to a single Crimson Guardsman, who in turn reports to the leadership cast (IE Bludd, Baroness, Destro, the Crimson Twins, Storm Shadow, etc). They lead the troops into battle unless one of the above is around.

The thing is they are always toys to sell first and lore second. The Comics and Cartoon are at the mercy of this however where the comic always had less eyes on it and it was difficult to have any decent talent working on it you'd get situations like Larry's where he is given the toy box with little rules on what he can and can't do with it. The cartoon isn't as far off but they have the issue that the company will want those toys front and center, as such the CG were feature doing everything from blowing up towns, seizing people's belongings, building machines, to telling Destro that they are on their break and to take it up with their union if he wants them to shorten their break.
When the season 3 TV show rolls in almost anything that wasn't a BAT was retried down to either desk work or talking head for the plot as the writers could have a lot more fun with the Joes actually hitting their targets. At their core CGs were just a toy to sell and their function was never clearly used like almost all the Cobra units because a kids show made for selling toys doesn't give you the room to flesh them out.

They also share a color with the Emperor's ceremonial guards from Star Wars, which I think predates the CG a bit. If you've ever read Crimson Empire (I know this was much later), the writers in the fan letter section actually talk about how they kept mixing up the names of the Red Guard and the Crimson Guard.

It's also possible that all of this is a coincidence because red is a cool color.

I got the metallic rangers yesterday. I will admit, the helmets are a big improvement, but I just don’t care enough about the characters to complain about the new ones. They’re good enough, and I’m not really looking forward to the inevitable matte color rerelease with proper helmets. But the figures are solid.

It’s the same sculpt, although weirdly it’s painted ever so slightly different. They’re both still “determined” expressions, but the new head (right) doesn’t have the earring painted. Hair is a bit lighter and he looks more “determined” in certain light but side by side they’re almost identical. Kind of a bummer since his hair changes over time. But unlike Rocky, the sculpt was good enough to just reuse.

OG Spirit is pretty stereotypical indian type appearance-wise and Hasbro has, since the 00s, been trying their damnest to make him less of a stereotype. In particular, Devils Due gave him plainclothes garb to wear full time, while Hasbro has done multiple figures updating him by literally making him look like Billy, a Native American special forces character from Predator.

The only reason we are getting him in his original toy form for Classified is that Hasbro took so much shit for changes made to other characters, that they are too scared to make radical changes to Spirit. Which is ironic, as his POC update figure would actually be one of the few cases where an updated look would be welcomed and cheered.

Such a boring stretch goal. The next two are just as bad. A repaint of Ripcord(slightly better than Scarlett, and two literal who ground crew figures. The most exciting thing was the free pack-in Cobra figures, who should have been announced in the first place. A repro of a Battle Helmet Cobra Commander has been needed since the mid-nineties when Hasbro tried to reproduce him but realized they lost his mold.

Those two are probably the best goal of the set, even better then the Cobra figures imo. The normal back up pilot and Rip-cord are just kinda useless now that Scarlett can fit that second seat, but the ground crew can still work to make the Skystriker look like it's about to blast into action off the deck of the Flagg. For a stand alone display, the Flight Crew is easily the best accessory to add to this set.

I have that Tie Fighter, and I know exactly why it wasn’t worth MSRP:
1. It was not the classic Tie, but instead the Nu-Tie from the sequels.
2. The solar panels could not support the weight of the ball, and warped after standing it up. It should have come with a stand.
3. Those same solar panes could have been customer-built, saving on shipping and shelf space, and likely reducing the cost to consumers.
4. Paint details were lacking.
5. Much of the interior detailing could have been reduced and no one would care so long as they could fit 2 pilots into it with ease. Getting one pilot in and out is a massive chore.

It's slightly more realistically scaled than the original, with a ton of gimmicks apparently. In all honesty, had it made all stretch goals and got the 10 figures it would have came with, it totally would have been worth it. That Cobra Commander alone will probably pay off half the price if not more.

Finally got my Commando Snake Eyes, which is my first Classified Snake Eyes (refused to buy the unpainted mass release wave one Snake Eyes or Asian Eyes, but didn't have the cash for the rape dollar prices proper V2 Classified Snake Eyes goes for).

Sadly the pack I bought came with Timber not in the package (not a big deal, as I didn't really want the wolf toy) but still it was a good deal for $40 given that most MIB copies go for $60-80 online.

Really worried I won't get to see Alley Viper or BAT at retail as stores are swamped with unsold Snake Eyes movie toys.

Found Movie Scarlett and the Akiko in the wild. I passed on Akiko for now.

Both figures had a weird paint issue on their faces. The amount of “rouge” applied to the cheeks is shocking. If I can get it off with alcohol that would be preferable to sanding sponges, but maybe the sanding sponges would help cut the sheen.

Otherwise, Scarlett at least is a solid figure, and the only other issue I have with her is the way the yellow paint on her thighs stops at the cut joint.

Walmart, Southpark Meadows Austin, TX. I was surprised to see that they had nearly full pegs of every toy line except for SWBS and MOTWWE. The Classifieds they had were only the movie line, and the wave 2 figures were all hidden behind a ton of Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow.

This is wrong.
Shit sold out in most TRUs and most of it was hard to get.
If it actually sold poorly, they wouldn't have made the next series in 2016. And the only reason there wasn't another series after that was because TRU was having trouble paying up on their credit. With TRU going bankrupt, Hasbro had no major retailers to carry their products anymore.

This is also wrong, because GI Joe has the largest adult collector base out of every children's line. Keyword: children's.
Hasbro makes children's toylines and they MUST sell over a certain amount of money, and the vast majority of toy sales come from children. Over 20% of the people who bought GI Joe toys are adults (could be more today).

Maybe adult Star Wars fans could equal that, IF those adults actually bought Hasbro's Star Wars toys, instead of being spread out over adult comic/movie/vg/art/funko Star Wars market.

Again, GI Joe is a children's toyline, same as every HAsbro toyline, because they make children's toylines. If kids dont support it, no amount of diehard support will allow the toyline to survive, because kids make up the majority of sales that Hasbro expects these lines to sell. They're not NECA or McFarlane. Their business model is to only produce toylines that sell in the hundreds of thousands, if not millions.
They'll toss adult collectors a bone once in a while, but that's a fucking bone from a fucking two thousand pound cow.

Mattel directly targeted collectors with their subscription services for years and years, while Hasbro never did any of that. At most, Hasbro'd throw out exclusives at conventions and now these kickstarters.

Anyway, Hasbro really didn't need to do the shit Mattel did, because GI Joe still got supported up until they fucked over Target and Walmart. When Sigma 6 came out, there was still a market large enough that they kept on selling 3.75" figures at TRU. The 25th line existed solely on popular sales, since that shit was only going to be some box sets and nothing else until the movies came out.
Even after Hasbro fucked over retailers by delaying the movie, the line continued to be sold by TRU until they ran out of money.

So given that about 20% of the people who buy GI Joes are hardcore fans, they actually kept shit at mass market retail.
Whereas MotU was selling in the low 10ks for like a decade until even Mattel couldn't justify the low numbers and that other company took over.

Apples to oranges.
Mattel directly targeted collectors with their subscription services for years and years, while Hasbro never did any of that. At most, Hasbro'd throw out exclusives at conventions and now these kickstarters.

Anyway, Hasbro really didn't need to do the shit Mattel did, because GI Joe still got supported up until they fucked over Target and Walmart. When Sigma 6 came out, there was still a market large enough that they kept on selling 3.75" figures at TRU. The 25th line existed solely on popular sales, since that shit was only going to be some box sets and nothing else until the movies came out.
Even after Hasbro fucked over retailers by delaying the movie, the line continued to be sold by TRU until they ran out of money.

So given that about 20% of the people who buy GI Joes are hardcore fans, they actually kept shit at mass market retail.
Whereas MotU was selling in the low 10ks for like a decade until even Mattel couldn't justify the low numbers and that other company took over.

i have no problem with making 80s shit, but the Skystriker is something that was already remade and didn't really improve much on the original, because the original was already great. This re-re-make also doesn't improve much, because ALL of the ones before it were already great.

You know what is WOEFULLY in need of a remake? The fucking HISS. That cheap single piece monoblock tread at the bottom is accurate to nothing. Would be cooler if it had two working treads and something inbetween that that actually represents the engine or whatever is supposed to be that uniblock down there. The cartoon had the HISS being much larger. The comic had it being more complex in how it the driver gets in and out.
Lots of other cool shit they could have remade into a proper sized vehicle that was released half-size as a cheap medium sized toy vehicle that is actually safer, sure bet to release than something that was already improved upon a decade ago and had like a dozen revisions.

I can't blame them, because of corona delaying shit and paramount making trash.
They had to delay the toyline and stretched out whatever they had planned for over a year until the movie was finally released.
Theres nothing to really ride when retailers basically demand that a toyline be cross-promoted with a movie, cartoon, or video game. Everything was riding on a bomb of a movie that was supposed to be out in mid-2020.

as said, Hasbro really didn't have a choice with GI Joe line being STREEETCHED over a year, because everything they had planned out had to coincide with the movie's release. The Snake Eyes movie was delayed for over a year, so they only had produced products for that one movie. Everything was riding on that movie, so no new products could be produced. That's just how budgets work for these toylines.
It's just bad luck that corona fucked up everything, making it pretty similar to how the GI Joe Retribution movie line also got fucked over (by Hasbro, instead of the worst plague of all time).

For whatever reason, HAsbro decided to switch the styles or started using better sculptors for their toylines, because by Venom Vs Valor, the proportions on their newer figures started being more realistic. Almost everything befoer then was pretty cartoony.

I love big multi-packs like this and wish Hasbro would pull them out more often. I remember way back when, before the ME stuff started, I was almost tempted to get back into Joes because I saw a set called the Viper Pit with nothing but Vipers. It was an instant army builder pack and such a simple and great idea. I think they only released like 2 or 3 similar sets in the ME line, but I wish they did it more often.

The three packs in the 50th were cool and all, but they always had one or two named characters I already had three of and had no reason to buy more of. If they were straight up, built in squads, I probably would've bought multiples of each.

You mean Retaliation? That movie was pushed back by Paramount, not Hasbro. Hasbro had almost no control over the film's scheduling. Hell, Hasbro seems to have very minor control over the movies at all, which is why they usually turn out awful. They need to get someone who's actually a fan of the source material and stick to what made the original stories so good in the first place.

Big NOPE. Whatever went on, Hasbro likely had final say in whether the movie would be released as plan or get delayed.

And how do you know that Hasbro wouldn't fuck it up either? Again, they're a producer and had to approve everything. Just look at the awful shit IDW produces for GI Joe, despite everything needing to be approved by Hasbro as well.
Both Paramount and IDW are license holders, and everything a licencee produces has to go through Hasbro. With Hasbro as a producer, Hasbro is ACTIVELY involved with the movie, so that's an extra step (unlike with IDW) of involvement that could be DAILY.
You have to remember that whatever WE like, it was produced by Marvel, Sunbow (also Marvel), DIC, Larry Hama, and every designer/manager of the toyline. So there's so many hands involved that there's different levels of quality because it's all produced by different people, all going through Hasbro.

Also, I don't get the comparisons with Marvel, as if direct control ever mattered. Marvel also produced a ton of trash. Marvel basically had their own animation studio in the 80s and 90s (which Marvel Comic sides hated) and Marvel execs were actively involved in the 90s (Fox TV movies count) and early 00s live action movies

Because retailers saw the giant boom in toy sales with the Marvel and TF movies and expects every toyline to have those sales now. Shit was easier in the 80s, 90s, and even into the late 00s. You can't put the genie back in the bottle, unless that entire market collapses.

Anyway, Hasbro wants to ride that wave of popularity only a movie can get to make TV shows, comics, toys, just like it did with the awful Bayformer movies. With the awful Snake Eyes movie bombing, it sets them back, if not got the heavily rumored cartoon canceled.

you realize that GI Joe was more popular and much more steady than TFs in the 80s, right? Even in the 90s, there was a high point that matched the popularity in the 80s.

GI Joe was also colorful and much more safe as well, because war anything is always popular, hence TFs being in a million year war or however long its been going.

TF is a co-production with Takara, so of course it also has more resources.

But still, there's no reason except for bad luck that made Snake Eyes bombed. Audiences like any dumb shit, because even horrible r-rated shit like Fast and the Furious is a popular franchise (whose latest movie also did sub-par thanks to corona). Hasbro lucked out with Bayformers, but fumbled with GI Joe with the sequel and then corona fucked over Snake Eyes.

I'm not arguing that. Transformers has consistently had at least one animated production running with their toylines, whether or not a steaming turd is sitting in the theater at the same time. Why not Joe? Why is Joe only allowed one piece of media at a time? Why does Hasbro even keep the license around if it's so much fucking trouble for them?

And no matter how often you say it, "luck" isn't to blame for Snake Eyes. They had bad will with fans right out of the gate, and made zero effort to win the fans back in spite of seemingly having all the time in the world. It would have been an insulting piece of shit whether or not covid delayed it.

The point about the Transformers is that cars and trucks will always have a place with kids whether or not the media is good, or even there at all. You can't phone it in with Joe like Transformers does if you're trying to move product. I'm sick of people acting like this is the one true avenue for EVERYTHING 80's to get back into the market. Make a fucking cartoon, or at least more CGI garbage if that's too hard. But stop with the fucking movies.

After the TF movie bombed, there wasn't another TF cartoon until the mid-90s. So more than a decade until Beast Wars came out and then killed itself a few years late with Beast Machines. Then there was nothing until the cartoon network TF series. So almost another decade.
GI Joe had two successful cartoon series in the 80s and the DIC cartoon ran until somewhere until the mid-90s. The GI Joe Extreme reboot in the mid-90s basically killed GI Joe in the media until those direct to dvd movies, which was turned into the Sigma 6 cartoon.

Syndication existed for all these series and the Sunbow GI Joe was actually one of the most popular cartoons to be syndicated.

No doubt, you're including the cheapshit TF animes, but that's mostly funded by Japanese sources, hence Hasbro basically being kicked out of the creative process in all of them. Hasbro had less control over them than they do with Killer Clowns from Outerspace and just dubbing the animes to have it make sense for the american audience ala Robotech.

So basically, the reason GI Joe didn't have media like Transformers is because it wasn't heavily subsidized by Japan.
So in actuality, Hasbro put more effort and money into GI Joe media than they did with Transformers until Bayformers blew up and Hasbro had the money to make their own series again. Hasbro tried to make that happen for GI Joe too... to poor effect.

Here's what you fail to understand: Hasbro is only trying to repeat Transformers success with GI Joe. Hasbro wasn't producing their own TF cartoons for decades at a time until Bayformers was created. This is Hasbro's model.
Takara's model was their own, which Hasbro basically got for next to free (because royalties), since Hasbro basically owns the characters and name for those series. Now that Hasbro is funding all the cartoons, Takara doesn't need to make anything and just pay the royalties/licensing fees to Hasbro.
Since Hasbro is the sole owner of GI Joe, there has been no GI Joe cartoons in production every year that that Hasbro could use for practically free from Japan.

Again, Hasbro themselves put more effort and money into GI Joe than they did Transformers, actually producing 9 cartoons. In the same time Hasbro created 7 Transformer cartoons.

Here's the thing, there's no reason for any of them to fail, ESPECIALLY the one with The Rock. The fact that they're shitty movies doesn't prove anything, because people LOVE shitty movies (and even LOVE shitty designs), as proven with Bayformers and the hundreds of shitty movies that are release every year.
Like i said, the DELAYS are what basically killed those movies. They built up momentum hyping up your upcoming release and then NOTHING for an entire year (retaliation) and longer (snake eyes). Retaliation being delayed is entirely Paramount and HAsbro's fault. Snake Eyes was due to the Black Death part 2. With Retaliation, Hasbro basically killed all retail support for the GI Joe toyline. With Snake Eyes, they had to stretch out two quarters worth of toys over 15 months, making deals with Target and Walmart, so that they wouldn't completely fuck them over like what hapened with Retaliation.

Why tho? They did all that shit themselves, they stopped producing the Renegades toys to "make room" for Retaliation. They killed it just to let wave 1 of Retaliation rot. You don't seem to be following along.
Retaliation had shit for products because Hasbro/Paramount fucked over retailers by delaying the movie a year, letting them to hold onto movie toys for an entire year without a movie to back it. Walmart/Target stopped supporting Hasbro GI Joe toys by summer, 5-7 months before the movie was finally released.
This effectively killed the entire GI Joe line, basically becoming a TRU exclusive to drip out redecos and retools, because TRU made money off of it still. Hasbro was still planning another movie, but took their sweet time after TRU went bankrupt.

GI Joe Classified was supposed to be the first part of the Snake Eyes movie line, but Corona fucked up Hasbro's plans, so they literally had a wave's worth of toys to release over the next 14 months.
In order to NOT repeat the mess that was Retaliation, they had to dole out exclusives to Walmart and Target in order to make it worthwhile to keep them ordering GI Joes until the movie came out.
Again, all this shit was produced for the 2020 movie. Yes, the non-movie figures are part of the movie line, because that's how Hasbro has operated with all their movie lines since at least 08. It was sold as such to Walmart and Targets, so future products can only be planned AFTER the movie. 2 waves worth of products stretched out for 14 months

Not him but Hasbro was principal designer for almost everything during BW. Takara did UT and BW2/Neo and they worked together on CHUG. Then TF5's toylines bombed hard and shelfwarmed for a full year and caused them to release next to nothing for Bumblebee. Bay's movies didn't really "save" anything as UT was still doing well at retail, and several years ago Bay toys became retail poison while Takara has mostly stopped being directly involved and only collaborates part time with Hasbro on the various current lines while focusing on MPs. You have no clue what you're talking about.

Why? RoC toys ran alongside the 25th retro stuff. And the Renegades line was never fully Renegades either, Sci-Fi, Lifeline, Law and the Techno Viper to name a few. You've given no real reasons. And Renegades failed because of the Hub.

Either way, they didn't need to kill EVERYTHING else they had going on just for wave 1 of Retaliation. There was room, the previous line left no major shelfwarmers. You can't be stupid enough to think that TF4 did well over Combiner Wars, a line that sold so well that finding any G1 combiner fully at retail was almost impossible and most people sprung for the more expensive Takara releases which also sold so well they were insanely hard to get ahold of. Except we're not. The top selling stuff has been Kingdom with BW appeal to 90s kids and SS86 with the original cartoon movie appeal. The recently leaked bee stuff is also getting a mostly mixed response while the last Bee stuff is generally regarded as shit and can still be found at both retail and online while other lines sell out almost immediately or months in advance.

The days of them making all the movie characters and then more in that style has been finished since DOTM. BTW, did you know there were hundreds and even thousands of fansites back in the day? Filex deCobray's site was the best, where he had dozens of dioramas featuring hundreds of figures doing things like Cobra figures hanging out in a remote air strip, working on their planes, groups of pilots crowding Wild Weasel sharing a story and GI Joes sneaking up on two guards patrolling the perimeter.
Back then, there were hundreds of collectors who put in waaay more effort into displaying their collections and dioramas (which i foolishly believed their sites would be up forever, so i didn't save anything) than you see today and it made stuff like this look like shit.

What happened to those people or their photos? Most disappeared and those that are still around lost their images, because they also believed their fansites would be up forever.

The articulation leaves a bit to be desired, especially compared to Classified. Feels like a mid-point between Marcel Legends and Joe. And it's not helped by the Steel Brigade's torso kinda not doing what I want it to and the hinges on the hands being painted. Swarm Trooper is such a strong design though. God, I'd kill for him to have the Charlotte Hornets blue-green instead of the yellow.

I'm of the same mind when it comes to Joes having "generic troops" on the field, but I also like the idea of the Steel Brigade being a subteam within the Joes themselves.

So I sort of compromised, got three Steel Brigade troops and named them after the ones from the old six figure set >>9497392 posted. So now they're all named characters, Rook, Red Zone and Checkpoint, but they're all Steel Brigade. I then teamed them with Gung Ho as their team leader and Clutch as their driver, gave them a custom equipped Vamp Mk II and use them as an elite anti armor tank hunting unit.

I did the same thing in an attempt to create a "Green Shirt" Infantry platoon. Making somewhat generic Joes and repurposing names or just making up OC codenames. Pic related is fairly out of date, but I'm up to six, four man fireteams of "generic" named Joes. All of em lead by the most generic of named Joes, Duke.

Same. SB as a sub team makes a lot of sense and then from there it was anything I could turn into Green shirts for the rest of the crew as you need troop fodder to fill out the background. The movie lines and POC were very good for that. The alternate points for L&O, Dusty, etc.

I've been digging through my old Joe's. I completely forgot about these early 2000s(?) Non-o-ring figures. They went really top-heavy with the sculpts; these dudes are beefy as fuck.

Go to Ross and pick up a Fortnite Legendary Oro if you want a nice laser-sighted Magnum. The rest of Oro’s kit is decent for male Classified figures, but it’s all unsuitable for female figures.
