Kids do still play with toys but not big 'Main Present' toys for christmas. I think that anon is right that when it comes to the big day it's consoles or phones. Exception is big lego sets at around 7-9.

It's sad but very true. My best friends teenage kid (13?) endlessly wants to drop cash on Roblox. It's so trippy and I can't wrap my head around it. I don't think he understands how predatory micro transactions can be. Maybe a whole younger generation doesn't, since it's all they have ever known.

It's funny how Target and Walmart actually have 2 toy areas and 25% of it is only for kids.

I'm buying my niece a couple of farm sets, with different animals and a tractor etc.

Her grandmother on the other side bought them a tablet for her a few months ago and my sister had to put a real stop to that and just take it away. It turned her into some weird zombie that just watched videos all day and then screamed when she couldn't watch them.

Now she plays with toys and has games with you like a real human being should. That tablet was a horrible mistake but at least it showed the family how bad those kinds of things can go. Now it's just traditional toys for her like the stuff we had growing up.

I suppose it depends on the kid, but they seem to love anything that you can put something inside and push around from A-B.
