In the 2019 City Space sets, there were solar panels that were prints and some were stickers. I'd say the ones on the curved slopes on the left, on the spaceship and on the roverbot are definitely stickers. The 2x4 tiles may be prints but are probably stickets too.

Yea it'll keep you busy for sure. The two LEGO employees I spoke with said they and some of the clients that had bought it said there was a lot of repetition involved. For that kind of money I'd buy a couple of modular buildings or something I knew was retiring and then hanging onto it and selling once they retire. Make some money for something I'd really want to buy down the road. Or just buy a bunch of other sets that will make you happy. I'm a city builder but bought the Technics Jeep because I'm a Jeep guy. It had been 20+ years since I had built anything from any Technic line. It was pretty neat. And yea, Take a good look at it in the store and figure that size and where you can display it. The pics I've seen have it in big foyers and larger spaces. I wouldn't want it taking up a whole corner of a room just to display it. Oh and have fun dusting it and keeping it clean.

I got the police station last Jan 1st and am yet to put it together. I built my own modular police station about 3 months before TLG released theirs. I had no idea what the new building was going to be. I was a little miffed but bought it just the same. Over the course of the last year I build a decent sized hospital and said if TLG releases a Hospital modular for 2022 I'm not posting any more city pics. Be sure to post what you get with that $700 burning a hole in your pocket! (Oh, Just buy a ton off the PAB wall!) LOL

I'd say the police station modular is pretty neat. (Yet to build) I'm not a SW fan even though I bought the original stuff decades ago. The blue tie fighter. After that all the stuff went all gray. Lost interest. There's lots of neat smaller builds. I also like the roller coaster but have no idea if the stores near you would have it at this point. I did like the Technic Jeep. These are all my personal preferences.

Everytime I see the Queer Eye set at stores it's completely packed onto the shelf. In other words: Nobody is buying it.
Just wait, and even the Lego shops will be discounting it for 20% then eventually like 40%. Other retailers are gonna slash the prices super low in-stores for sure.
It should have never been made, but since they insisted on making it, they shoulda realized it was gonna be a shelf warmer and made it D2C so at least they could keep up the illusion that people are actually buying it and it wasn't a total failure.

I've been trying to collect all the racers heads for that reason. With early 2000s racers lego reached a perfect balance between ability to make detailed face prints while not having the look be too homogenized.
In my opinion these are the last great lego heads and it seems like the lego community as a whole doesn't value them enough.

Is the hangar supposed to be pressurized? The airlock is clearly supposed to be in the left arm, as the connected module houses helmets. But the module on the right contains a lab. Both are open the hangar.

-The facade and details of the main building

Don't like:
-The building is rather tiny and cramped for this price and the terrace wastes space

so I have a question: I have some 800 bricks in my ever-growing bricklink wanted list and I want to skim it down a bit so I don't have to pay shipping fees from so many places. The first obvious choice would be to use pick a brick/bricks and pieces, both of them are accessible from the lego website, but they have such a shitty search feature, I thought typing in the part's serial number/code is a good way but they seem to have different numbers on lego's website than brickink. to top it off, PaB's page is so horrendous because it always only shows like 25 results per page. I've checked the Artemis program and the only thing on that box that is actually rooted in reality is that small rover-bot with the windscreen pieces (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VIPER_(rover)). The spaceship is based on a concept drawing for a lunar lander, but the actual landers are built by SpaceX and Blue Origin and look different. The 'Foundational Surface Habitat' looks also different and has of course no cool dome. Another thing that's real is the 'Habitable Mobility Platform' but that's another set, the manned lunar rover that docks with the airlock. And there is also the small moon buggy (Lunar Terrain Vehicle) but this is pretty generic.
The strange skycrane-drone might be based on the skycranes for Mars-rovers, but I don't think it could lift asteroids.

The 6 stud deep facades from city are getting really horrible, and as expected anything with road plates is getting really jacked up in price, priced like it's a full baseplate despite not feeling like a baseplate of value.

Is it really that much to ask for something that has actual interior space? Like 12 studs? You only have to increase one wall axis. A classroom that is 6 wide and can seat two people is laughable, seriously. It's not like it even has a roof that'd prevent play.

Classic sets used the angled windows to extend interiors a bit, and in general had more depth to them with some offset areas.

I can't help but feel many of the facade sets are built to make a great looking box cover and that's it.

The worst set is the school. There is no point to include a road in this set. The police building and the hospital have road plates but they are just driveways like in most old basplate sets. Bricklink uses the mold number (the number actually visible on the physical piece).

B&P uses the element number, which is a specific number for that piece in that color. If you need help figuring out element numbers, you can use brickset: search for a set that has the part in the color you want, then check brickset's inventory for the set to see the element number.

So after avoiding it for as long as possible I finally stuck my feet into the Powered Up pool to give it a try and now I've got my first impressions after letting my Crocodile spin for about 10 minutes.

Presentation wise the bluetooth control on the phone is great, but behind the literal bells and whistles actually setting up the PU hub to my phone took much longer than I realized since I didn't realize I needed to hold down the power button while connecting it. The whole setup process just feels so barbaric in comparison to the system utilized by Circuit Cubes' bluetooth system where all I had to do was turn the box on and locate it with my phone.

Speaking of Circuit Cubes, price-wise they're the far better value compared to PU. To power the Crocodile I had to drop $50 on the Hub and another $40 on the L-Motor that goes in the cab (Not to mention the cost of AAA batteries). Meanwhile dropping $40 on a Circuit Cubes set nets you a much smaller Bluetooth hub (PU's 8x4x4 vs CC's 4x4x3) with a built in Micro-USB charging port and two micro motors. Sure the tiny $20 CC motors aren't as strong as Lego's $40 L/XL motors, but they're pretty damn strong for their size. I really don't get Lego's obsession with huge-ass battery boxes and motors when 3rd parties have shown that you can easily do the same thing in half the size.

The one thing I can give Powered Up a positive on is that the combined Battery Box/Receiver is a lot better for more condensed building than the Power Functions equivalents. Overall I like Powered Up a bit more than Power Functions, but I really can't see myself dropping a minimum of $65 on each train that I want to motorize when all it took for Power Functions was ~$40 ($13 Battery Box + $15 IR Receiver + $7.50-$14 per Motor).

Lego recently cancelled the release of a Technic Osprey because some German anti-military group was bitching about the set going against Lego's no-military values.
Given their countless other releases this is of course just a bullshit PR excuse to save face since some sets still found their way into the hands of customers and it turned out that the gear mechanism for the rotors was a mess and would stress and/or flat out deform some gears after a while.
It's ridiculous that this wasn't caught until after the set was already produced and shipped and it made people question Lego's QC and design departments (even more).

This set is the least favorite of mine of the 2022 wave. My fav one is definitely the Guardian Duel. I have a ton of spare flower pieces and bright-colored bricks so I was building a reasonably sized Minecraft coral reef MOC.

It would either be better with the tiny corner thing attached to a separate building so there can be space for an angled alleyway or offsetting an adjacent building back a half-baseplate length so it lines up with the angled section ends.
Alternatively, use it as a "corner" going into a shopping arcade/alley.

Basically, it's going to require more modification that most modular consumers are incapable of performing.

That corner where the diagonal meets the straight near the terrace looks really bad, weird tan, sand green, white and flesh amalgamation. For a modular I would have expected something clever to hide that area like a gutter downspout.

The corner garage had a similar open angle corner like that, but was much less noticeable as the only mismatched color was some light grey brackets.

I think the hotel would look much better next to the diner as both of those feel much more like tropically located buildings

I ordered 2 Pirates of Barracuda Bay last week and a couple of boxes turned up today. The smaller box had a blanket in it that was the promo/gift with purchase they were offering at the time. The larger box had a single Barracuda Bay in it. The address label on the larger box lists the contents as containing "2 Items", but like I just said, there was only 1 single Barracuda Bay set in it. There was also a handwritten 1/2 on the inside of the flap of the larger box and a 2/2 on the inside flap of the smaller box.
So I'm guessing someone at Lego messed up and only sent 1 Barracuda Bay, when they were suppose to send 2. Now I've checked my order and it does say I ordered 2 and I've checked my financial statements and I was definitely charged for 2 Barracuda Bays.

I've e-mailed Lego and am now waiting for a reply, but has something like this happened to anyone else? If so, how did Lego respond? A couple of years ago I contacted them about getting a replacement part for a piece that had a bad print on it and they sent that out no issues. But this is a large and expensive set.

It's pretty minor but you can't actually properly attach the ammo holders onto the legs like on Kopaka. A small part of the CCBS bone socket overlaps with where the axle goes into the Technic connector, pushing the part outwards and putting the pin that connects the holder to the leg under stress.
It's visible in LDD but the axle simply clips through the bone.

Some anon also mentioned that the Mandalorian Razor Crest has some weird issue with the engines where a plate goes under the top of one of those large half-cylinder pieces but there's a teeny tiny height difference between those two.

Some years ago an anon posted an unfinished project that seemed to be an Insectoid Nativity or Benthelem. I never saw any more than thumbnails as the archives were gone.

I also thought it was nougat at first (as it would make more sense) but you can see nougat pieces in other parts of the modular and they are a different color.
The probable reason is that they already had the crown piece in gold, and making it nougat would've been a new color for the piece which is a complication in production.
I think it looks alright in gold.

I feel you - nothing gives me the feeling of LEGO childhood joy like a giant transparent dome on a base structure.

Huge transparent panels and windscreens will always be my favorite parts. Even though the trans light blue is a fairly boring color, I'll definitely be picking up some of those domes.

Honestly these are the biggest structural changes I would make to LEGO's part pallet.

It is nearly inexcusable that massive $300 high end advanced build collectible / realistic technic monstrosities have jarring blue / tan / red / whatever colored pins showing in the finished model. It is sloppy and cheap.

They use these barf colors to skimp on production lines / storage but use the excuse of making it easier to find parts while building. I don't think 18+ collectors need to be coddled like that.

As for mixel joints, same excuse of cheapness of part storage. People aren't asking for every whacky color, but even some base blues, blacks, yellows, reds, etc. would go a long way. There are plastic colors that can handle it.

I think they've gotten a bit too complex in a number of areas. For one thing, there are too many shades of colors that aren't really needed. It would be smarter and more money conscious to reduce the number of colors you produce. Another area where they've gone too far in complexity is the printing details on minifigures. When they go too detailed in the printing, you really can't do too much mixing and matching and have it look good. This is mostly a problem with licensed minifigs, but I've seen some regular minifigures whose parts don't mix well. Third, they've added too many tiny parts to justify higher prices and on top of that, this makes your set look more like a model and less like lego. I appreciate the attention to detail, but I think it would be wise to pump the brakes on covering every single stud as if you're ashamed of it being Lego. Fourth, I think they have this weird obsession with bigger is better. I'm not poor, but I can sympathize with people who can't afford buying sets that cost over $100. I feel this is most heinous in Monkie Kid, where you see what looks like at least two set's crammed into one box. Usually this keeps me from buying them because I only want the one part and the rest would go to waste. Lastly my final complaint is the number of cracked pieces has been unacceptable. For a company whose motto is "only the best is good enough", that's embarrassing.

Maybe I'm imagining things but it feels like the number of "complex" parts with clips like the Nexo Knights mech torso or those large balloon pieces has been greatly reduced over the last years and instead they mostly use clips only on tiny 1 or 2 stud wide parts instead that can be easily replaced, like as if they are aware that there are problems with those connections.

I feel like this is due to Lego putting the cart before the horse, and designing sets for adults before kids. It's not inflation, sets are getting more complicated and bigger. The only lines not seemingly designed for adults are City, Ninjago and all the other non-licenced themes that died within 3 waves. Even Ninjago seems to be struggling, since they needed to introduce Ninjago Core since 10 years of continuity and themed gimmick waves make it hard for kids to jump right in, looks like what happened to Bioncle, I predict Ninjago has 5 or less years left.

Many of them are cool like the nougats, browns, reds, but I think a huge culprit is the blues.

There's azure, dark azure, medium blue, regular blue, bright light blue, aqua.

Now they're getting into too many yellows with yellowish green, highlighter yellow, bright light yellow, bright light orange, etc.

I don't think having a big color pallet is bad, but my gripe is that a lot of the colors feel too similar and not unique enough. The sand colors are way more unique. Something like dark, light, sand and regular feels like enough shades of a single color. Some shades just seem needlessly excessive, and does make building color cohesive mocs a nightmare sometimes.

Anyone got any cool bases? I sort of want to use this baseplate but I'm not sure where it'd fit. Probably add another dark grey baseplate next to it too. An aquazone faction maybe? Not sure what space theme could use it.

Also my favorite Alpha Team set, for $50 back in the day it's a pretty sweet kit (~$75 in today dollars).

These two I always wanted but they were too expensive. However, I did get the MTT sealed NIB a few years ago for $80 shipped. Certainly worth the price for the building experience fulfillment.

Is a collection of vintage but unorganized mixed no box/manuals lego worth anything? I have two 80 gallon crates full of lego ranging from 1978 to early 2000's, skewing heavily towards the 80's sets. Not really sure what to do with them; I'm getting too old to have kids.

vintage lego has held its value well and appreciated in most cases, even lacking manuals and boxes. A bunch of parts from that era in particular is definitely worth something. That quantity would be worth multiple thousands of dollars, and even more if sorted through and the parts from sets put together. If you are not already aware the best place to get an idea of the lego secondhand market is Bricklink.

Yep definitely have a look around there, you'll get an idea of what things are going for these days. You can set up a store on bricklink as well, good way to get your collection into the hands of people that value it. If I exit the hobby or downsize that's what I plan to do with my collection.

With a few exceptions of sets I didn't like I basically have every set from Town on to the late 90's other than some of the Soi Wars stuff. I didn't get the millenium falcon because one of my friends beat me to the flex.

Definitely look through the minifigures and sets from the 90's era on bricklink if you want to refresh your mind.

It will also show what sets a certain minifigure came in. For 90's town, it would be under the "Classic Town" section of the set categories.

True vintage unsorted, not-cherry picked vintage LEGO with minifigures can go for big amounts on ebay, like $20+ per LB depending on era. Minifigureless bulk from 2000's+ goes for like $4 a lb for comparison.

You have an absolute treasure chest most likely.
