Yes and no. Like I said, they've got SOUL. You clearly tried and put effort into them. But they're messy, you've applied techniques suited to miniatures, but miniature scale techniques don't scale well to larger figures. The paint isn't smooth, nor are the painted areas "clean."
Here's a 1/100 Tallgeese I painted years ago. It might looked airbrushed, but it's actually handbrushed. Proper thinning, proper application and multiple coats = better end product.
When it comes to painting figures, you need to apply different techniques depending on scale. The larger the item in question, the smoother and cleaner your paint job needs to be. That's why so many people use air brushes. Hell, even though pic related is hand brushed, even I moved on to an airbrush.

You got SOUL, you just need practice.

Depending on which edition your local Games Workshop are pushing, that could change from area to area.
It sounds like you'll want an Ultramarine. But when I got into the game, the local store was pushing for Crimson Fists. A group I met had their store pushing Dark Angels.
Personally, I'm still a Crimson Fists guy. I do love a good last stand. New Omnibus went up for pre-order today too, which is cool.

You may have thinned them and wet blended too many colors, making a muddied mess. Honestly, it’s a good start but it’s a ton of little things that make them look off:
>scratch effects just look like paint smears
>Noticeable brushstrokes
>Thinly painted areas

I can't honestly suggest anyone in particular because I dabble in just about every channel I can find and apply what I find useful, there's no one particular source of good information, you just gotta dig a little bit.
It would, however, be worth looking into miniature painting tutorials and techniques so that you can learn how to better apply the information you know on figures big and small.
Personally, I like the channel, "Miniac" because I've been watching him for years at this point. But for real, any channel you look up is likely to feed you the info you need, the miniature painting community is, for the most part, extremely helpful and tight nit. We Fa/tg/uys have an almost constant stream of Work in Progress threads. I hope to see your stuff there in the future. Best of luck buddy. I've got to get back to my Lord of the Rings stuff.

Left pic is just one handed, middle right shows how he needs to have the gun angled up and his other arm fully extended to reach the foregrip, bottom right picture doesn't show him holding the grip at all. It was shown off at Shanghai WonFest, same time as JoyToy's offerings. As far as I can tell there has been zero updates on it officially. There's some places where people say it was a fan made figure and was for sale solely at the convention as a 1 off. Personally I hope it isn't a 1 off and gets a full release. Either that or McFarlane or JoyToy makes some.

They almost used him as the Artists Proof. They removed the detail piece from beneath the right knee. Why it wasn't given a painted release is hard to fathom. Perhaps the actual gold paint, black boot soles and black panel lining would have (at production level) increased the production costs? Even the "Gold Label" figures have their surface damage / surface details unpainted, and their gold is still gold plastic, rather than gold paint.

I would have been more than down for a slightly scaled back quality of the Ultramarine for a mass market release.

I supoose the solution is really simple, paint it yourself. Ive never painted a full action figure (and I do want to try) but the artist proofs are like 60 syrup bucks on amazon before delivery and tip

Ouch, 60 syrup drips is too much if you ask me. Though I don't know much about the leaf currency or economy.
Here's an interesting thing to note though, the Artists Proof in the pic above, there's red showing through the paint at his knee joint. So for all we know, there was a material change at some point and that could be another sign that some things were scaled back for pricing.
While I haven't checked myself, I'm almost certain that the Gold Label Blood Angel isn't painted red, it's almost certainly cast in red plastic.

Its about fifty USD. standard mcfarlane figures like witcher or dune mortal kombat retail like 35$ cad here. Toy collecting is absolute hell here. Its why in recent years I pretty much only get used import stuff and almost seldom buy anything western, no hate no elitism but 35$ for 7" action figures is hard to write off.

Now that I look at >>9499859 closer, there's something super funky going on with the knee. It looks badly cloned/reconstructed, and someone tried to smear the shit out of it to hide it. I'm even more puzzled that they left any trace of red/brown in the pic at all, simply desating it in PS would have taken 2 seconds and made all of this far less noticeable.

How odd...I wonder what was going on with the knee that they had to do this PS hackjob on it. Also, hire me Todd, I could have done a way better job shopping that knee.

I don't have a pic but I've seen it. It looks real good. IIRC it's not 100% perfect colormatch, but close enough, and the blue helm has that dark circle under one eye that I'm not a fan of visually. But yeah, they look good swapped. I'd do it myself too if I could actually still get the Smurf with the red helm.

this probably explains why your stuff looks so rough, despite oyu saying you thinned the paint properly.

High quality paint will have more pigment, so the paint will look solid with fewer coats, thus look smoother too. Try Citadel or Vallejo, as theyre easy to find. Dont buy Japanese brands, because they dry too fast.

For painting figures, you want Vallejo, Citadel, Army Painter. All affordable and often colour matched.

Most custom makers I've known have used the miniature paints. Some tend to favor Vallejo because they're cheaper, but still excellent, paints.
I'm just about to start a figure repaint, but mostly to remove some factory paints. Gonna be redoing some Knights of Ren to make them generic bad guy grunt figures. I'm gonna paint out the awful looking "weathering" (which looked fine on the production adverts) and change up the shades of black to be more german grey / black grey, then I'm gonna matt down everything except the metal on the helmet. And it's all gonna be done with Vallejo. So if you're using citadel paints and you prime the figure before hand, you're gonna be fine. Thin your paints though, always thin your paints. If you don't know how to do that, then look it up on YouTube so you don't make any mistakes. The Emperor Protects, brave Hellblaster.

As for different brushes, any half-way decent brush will do the job. Myself, many others and even many pros just use cheap teflon gold brushes. I use these, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/382569922356 and I'm content with my miniature results, so as mentioned before, if you thin your paints and work properly with them (prime the figure etc) then you should do just fine:

About half the layer range works okay for a few months and then completely separates regardless of how often it's shaken and mixed. There's a reason nobody uses any of their shit other than technicals and washes anymore, and that's been their only consistent paint since the 80s before GW took over production from the french company that made them before that. Army painter is only good for their cans and supplies as well, their paints have been terrible for years unless you were one of those subhumans who bought into dipping to get your netlist army prepped in a weekend.

I have a pot of goblin green from 1992 that I got as a gift from a friend that's still good. Meanwhile I have another pot I bought last fucking year that separated within 6 months. Big Mek is here. Shoulder sockets were too loose for his big arms so they were floppy but can hold at some angles so not great. Threw some putty on so it wouldn't annoy me.
Arms only get a 45 degree bend with slightly more but it pops the piston out. There is bicep swivel so that's good. Forearms have a swivel.
Legs can go a bit closer together than the promos showed. 90 degrees at the knees and a toe hinge.
Body is just a swivel at the waist and head can only look left and right slightly and swivel.

The arm looseness sucks but it’s fixable. Pack falls off sometimes. Its about what I expected from McFarlane but it’s doesn’t feel Megafig priced. The box itself is huge but it’s not much bigger than a space marine. It’s a solid figure if it was $30. I’m just glad the hips weren’t a huge issue.

The Space Wolves still lack edge highlighting. And the fact that the Chaos stuff was shown after them, and have the highlighting, says to me that this might be an intentional choice unfortunately, and will not be "fixed" later.

Apparently the space wolves have steel joints unlike the other figures, so maybe they don't have edge highlighting to save on cost? I don't know, I'd much prefer the highlighting, heard steel joints are bad for toys anyway.

As for if it's bad, it can be brittle and can cause wear issues with the plastic. But plastic on plastic itself can cause wear issues too. You generally want two materials rub against each other to be of different types, as like on like can cause too much friction.
Given Joy Toy's history of brittle plastics, they don't seem to have any R&D or chemists that know their shit. Hopefully they're taking advice from a company that does know their shit with the steel joints.
I'd also trust the steel to be more resilient than their plastics too, even if it is chinkshit.

Yeah, it was for the whole set. It's kind of a pain since you'll need to sign up for a tmall account AND an alipay (like paypal) account. They'll ship it to a warehouse first and then you'll be notified to pay for international shipping, I'm not sure how much shipping is going to be, but I'm pretty fucking sure it'll be better than scalper prices. You can try looking up a guide, but there's also some sites like superbuy and ytaopal you can use instead if you don't want to google translate your way through this, although there is going to be a service fee, and they might take a couple of days to process/order the set for you.

I'm pretty sure they are bringing back Terminators. I mean I don't think they really left in terms of the Lore. But the tabletop puished everything out for Primaris, which is garbage, but what can you do but complain and demand the old stuff get brought back, which is pretty much whats happening.

MSRP should be around $230, based on that tmall link. Did you have any issues with the infiltrators by the way? I heard Joytoy figures sometimes have shitty joints that snap in half pretty easily. Hopefully they improved their CQ for the 40k stuff.

I've got roughly 85 figures including the WH40k Infiltrators. I've only had one figure break. It was actually broken in the package but it had spare joints so I fixed it with no issues. I don't own any of mechs so I can't give any info on them. The WH40K figures are well made. I'm planning on buying most of their WH40K releases.

You would be surprised anon....shipping is a disaster zone out of China right now. I used to forward cool stuff out of there all the time, right now it's such a horrible deal shipping a decent size/weight box out that I have given it up cold turkey until things (hopefully) get better again.

I don't paint minis so I didn't have macragge blue. I did have a bottle of Vallejo Ultramarine blue that I had used for my 1:18th customs. I had to mix in some black, grey and dark blue to come up with an exact match.

Jesus... according to rumors from tfw2005, joytoy currently has 18 figures pending approval from GW and are planning on releasing 60 figures in 2022. We might be getting chaos havoc squad, chaos lord in termie armor, a hellbrute, more primaris stuff, and death korp of krieg. Why the fuck are they making so many figures so quickly? I can't keep up anymore. Also I'm not sure if these figures are limited in China, it looks like they still sell the infiltrators in their tmall store.

If this is true I hope GW puts more effort into making these figures accessible. Only being able to get them from their online form for a single weekend and then waiting 6 months to actually get them is absurd.

I'm fine with them being made to order or something and taking a couple months but it would be nice to know that if my power goes out for a weekend I wouldn't miss out entirely.
