>>9504942>For someone who didn't grow up with Monsters in my Pocket, what's the appeal? They're unpainted but I see people pay a lot of money for them and for the volcano to display them with.they were really detailed when they came out. Those muscle guys had been off the market for a few years. And they were more detailed than zbots. MUSCLE was like what, 85? Monster in my pocket was 92.
They also had a pretty good looking nes game that played about as well as the castlevania titles on the system. There was also some interest in the classic universal monsters. I think the parks had been parading them around back then.
ALSO, they made an assload of them and they eventually clearanced them out for like a quarter a box. So kids could get a lot of them with normal money, and poorer kids could get a few boxes for a dollar or two. I got a whole set up them that way.
As for price, well most KINNIKUMAN style toys go in the garbage. Parents assume they are cheap gumball machine toys and trash them. A lot of people with monster in my pocket figs don't even remember what they were called when they find them. So they just don't find their way to ebay. So they are pretty rare as this stuff goes. Only fans remember what they are called, and most don't sell.
I've sold every double I've come across.
I'd love to know more abotu the line. Like how the fuck did they sculp them. They are crazy detailed for 92 and at that size.
