Someone told me that keeping my figures in packaging is bad. I thought the person who told me was full of shit until I noticed that my "Adventures of Spawn" Spawn figure (2006 - 15 years old) has a broken foot (foot broke off in package) as well as a bit of reddish black liquid on the foot as well. The same person said this is because keeping the figures in their boxes (depending on the plastic of the figure and plastic used to shell/house the figure in its packaging) causes the toys to either slowly decompose by melting or becoming so brittle they break. I've lurked here long enough to see the brittle/stiff factor when it comes to things like NECA figures but I am not sure about my toys.
I have a lot of the ORIGINAL still boxed ghost-buster, star-wars (kenner) tmnt, motu, gijoe, batman/DC (toybiz), marvel/xmen (toybiz), jayce and the wheeled warriors toys as well as the newer re-release/remake figures of star-wars (POTF 96 line), tmnt (classic collections), gijoe, MOTU (retro play), ghost busters (kenner classics) as well as a bunch of the black-series star-wars and a shit ton of newer xmen figures (multiple brands). I really don't care if I HAVE to open them. I am NOT the type to resell figures (unless im gonna make a mint on like a clothed jawa mint on card). I collect what I like, bought them because I liked them and will leave it all to my kids/grandkids when I die. I just want to make sure my figures dont get destroyed by trying to keep them safe.
>If someone has some answers or insight on what to do or how to store my figures if I have to opening them I would greatly appreciate the insight.
