Ok /toy/, so I came into some decent money for Christmas this year and I've decided to treat myself to some nice custom glass cabinets to display my figures in. I currently have an Ikea Kallax, a detolf, and a shitty bookshelf. I was thinking a nice double wide glass cabinet with sliding glass doors and adjustable shelves. Something around the same height but twice as wide as a detolf.
Talking to my roommate about it he said why don't we just build one ourselves? He has all the tools and has worked as a carpenter specifically building wooden cabinets in the past and he's been itching to build something recently. He says he should be able to build a glass one without much effort, we'd just have to get the materials. Getting the glass cut at Home Depot won't be a problem, nor should be getting the wood and metal for the base other such things.
So the question is, what do you guys recommend design wise? What is your ideal display cabinet? I want some ideas. What kind of functionality would you want in your perfect display case?
