Not really much going on currently. You can check the last thread for the most recent reveals.

The Channel 6 set is hitting Targets across the country. Lots of restocks around here, Chucky, Pennywises, Terminator, xenomorphs. Etc. We should start seeing new figures hit this month though, shipping crisis willing.

Big news is Toy Fair was officially cancelled due to the pandemic. It won't affect reveals, but I wonder if they had any exclusives ready for the show? Those might be pushed back to get exclusive retail releases later. Time will tell.

The eyes are a liiiittle wonky but nothing that bugs me. The heads swap easily and stay on no problem, the leg joints are tight but I'm fine with that. He'll stay standing in whatever I pose I put him in.

I keep grabbing him and checking out the details. They really did a gorgeous job here. He has a nice tactile feel because of that too. Hefty but not unruly to mess with. I'm very happy with it.

Comicsandcocktails in the UK, it seems like we're getting them a bit earlier for some reason.
Mentioned it in the last thread but it's weird since NECA releases tend to come out later here, or at least on the 2 I PO'd before.

They didn't, I'm just paranoid that they are, since it makes sense. They did a toony terrors one already, and this year is the 100th anniversary of the film.

I don't wanna drop the money on Mezco's just to have NECA come out the next week and be like "Hey, here's a movie accurate Nosferatu for $25"

Ah, I see.

If they do one, it’ll probably be stylized and not look exactly like the movie. Likeness rights are obscure at best for something that old. That’s why the Toony and Mezco are such stylized versions.

Yeah maybe, but the Super7 Reaction Nosferatu figures straight up use the actor's likeness on the packaging, so it seems like it'd doable.

Figuring out who owns the likeness rights for a 1920s German actor is probably a bit of a headache. It’s just easier and cheaper to stylize the figures.

They're both really solid releases, I don't buy from NECA too often but they've really been knocking it out the park with the universal monsters so far.
Both have some really stellar sculpting, especially the Lon Chaney head on Wolfman.

Mummy has the most range out of the two since he has double elbows and no rubber shirt hindering his torso movement, I do wish he came with the sarcophagus though even if it meant a higher base price.

I have few nickpicks with Wolfman like how I wish his skin on the wolf face was darker and that he had more movement in his body for better prowling poses but overall I still like it a lot and like I said the sculpting is great on the faces.

So far I'd rank the monsters: Frankenstein > Mummy > Wolfman.
I hope we see Gillman soon and get a release date on Drac.

You don't need to boil the accessories, just the joints. UNLESS it's an accessory that gets floppy or bent, that happens sometimes with NECA. In that case, just boil it, reposition it back to normal, and quickly run it under cold water so it stays that way. Good as new

I got my 3rd Nightmare Demon, 4th one comes early next month.

It's weird, I love the figure, but the quality has been inconsistent.

>First figure, had his right elbow joint half out, giving it more range but a gap.

>Second figure, all the joints are perfect but the neck flesh tones did not match the head flesh tones. Werewolf head does not have painted stripes.

>Third figure, the outer part of the right elbow hinge warped, contouring outwards, making the elbow loose. Werewolf head does not have the white stipes on it again

Overall good figures, but just inconsistent QC issues. Luckily nothing major, and with things like the issues with the heads I can mix and match parts since I have multiples.

From McFarlane? Yeah, maybe. The way they engineer their joints is awkward on their big figures. I don't collect McFarlane. Not interested in capeshit.
From NECA? Sometimes, but most of the time they're good. Just about every toy company puts out some awkward sculpts from time to time.

Can't speak for McFarlane, but none of the NECA figures I own feel fragile, and none have broken. Some tight joints that need to be heated up, but they're fine. I get people have had experiences where figures break, but that also can be applied to literally any toy company.

Not really. I mean, there are more articulated figure lines, but current NECA figures strike a great balance of articulation and sculpt. My Michael Myers that had double jointed elbows and can do the splits would disagree he's "minimal articulation"

I feel like this applies to McFarlane, but NECA's paint jobs are usually good. Not always consistent but good. McFarlane as I understand it tried to hit a lower price point so I think that's why paint application is usually not amazing.

I looked at Mike Myers and if he did a split, that diaper would be so evident, so it’s not a great balance after all. Nobody likes that joint. That's why the Casey Jones reissue dropped it and the running change to April's knees. It SOMETIMES works on hairy/furry limbs, but I never got why they started using it for almost everything and I actually prefer their single jointed elbows and knees.

You’d think that putting a double joint as close together to mimic the natural V shape of a bent elbow would be something they’d do, even marvel legends try to do that. I’ve seen neca do good elbows like on the 1/4 daredevil and on some of their other cartoon lines, you have no excuse to keep defending this joint when they’ve shown they can do better.

Just got my final Nightmare Demon earlier than expected

The final Nightmare Demon is mostly good. The werewolf head does have the striped on this one, so that's interesting that 50% of my Nightmare Demons got those stripes.

The only thing wrong with this 4th one is that the head was off in the package, and they sit pretty loose when I put any of them on the body. Other than that the body is perfect.

So yeah, great figure overall, but QC is weirdly inconsistent with these guys. That's why I prefer to find them in the store, but with how often my area stocks shit I was never going to find these guys. Glad to have the whole squad.

Doesn't a neca rep come in with every restock? There are videos of them giving stock to employees so they could scalp them at target when they were supposed to be going on a shelf. I remember seeing a video where it's a girl recording and she goes up the target employee and rep mid exchange and asks for one (it was turtle shit). what I learned is that for me personally the paints didn't matter, I buy the 99 cents paint from Walmart, but I water down the paint.
what I do is add some water, and then paint with the brush, and then wet the brush with a little bit of water and then softly paint the area with water.
so it's like
paint with the paint- wet the brush- paint with water on top of the wet paint

this is the only way to paint without leaving brush strokes. to make it look soft. but it will take like 20 times between drying and painting again.

Pretty sure the info is out there already. But yeah, once a week, either wed, thur, or fri you go in, organize the section so it's at least not totally wrecked (so the barest minimum of facing, takes all of 2 mibutes) and take a photo. You assign yourself to one store and one store only. The gift card drawings are weekly, there's a monthly and yearly drawing too for bigger amounts. The cards are only for Target. Which again, works for me. If not blowing it on another toy I can get groceries.

I've made friends with the electronics guys, we talk games and stuff. It's fun and I can keep up with what's on the pegs.

I started since the beginning.

Most of the gift cards I get have just been the $20 ones, those are the smallest ones you get. I've also gotten the $100 one before. Most of the gift cards they give are raffled off, but each week they pick a lot of names. And if you don't win after a while you're guaranteed a $20 gift card after a certain period of time, or if you've submitted a photo every quarter without missing a week you get an extra one automatically.

So it's not like I'm making a life changing amounts of money, but to snap a quick photo at a store I already shop at down the street from me, then why not?

clearance is funky. its supposed to be 3 levels, 30%,60% and 90% off, increasing every few weeks. It fluctuates a bit though.

Also for items that aren't in the system for that store(i.e random returns), once added from being scanned, home office will sometimes send a clearance price to get rid of it, which can sometimes be for a crazy price off.

Walmart's website is run by a different company, they are not linked to stores in any kind of accurate matter. Which is why there are tons of discrepancies between prices, amount in stock, AND the kind of product they have online but not in stores. Clearance prices and what goes on clearance vary from store to store. Good job showing everyone you've never stepped foot in a Walmart store before, let alone understand how the website works. This is seriously embarrassing.

Dude, buy Mr. Super Clear (Matte) Spray a base coat before you paint, it allows the paint a better surface to grip and some extra protection if you fuck up. Spray another layer when you're done painting. And always thin your paints
