For those of you who want Batman's rogue's gallery figures besides Joker, but are confused as to why they are not really being released much (to the point where theres no penguin or riddler --save the movie vers that are coming because of the film--or twoface): this whole "DC wants most figures to reflect the current comics and movies" concept is what is basically interfering in that.

In modern Batman comics, the traditional rogues are not focused on much anymore and are usually asides thrown away in 5 pages or so if they need someone doing some minor crime to aid in a larger storyline with a unique twist or character. Mr Freeze had an OK length run with Mrs. Freeze but again it was only the unique angle of Mrs Freeze that allowed that. Instead of just going "guess what, Riddler is back with new riddles!" they have been focusing on new and non-traditional characters like Court of Owls, Arkham Knight, The Mirror, The Spectre, which aren't what pervaded the old 60s TV, 90s-00s Batman movies/cartoons.

I think some of it is just writers believing the old rogues have basically been mostly "used up" and can't offer much new anymore. Some exceptions like Clayface when the writers turned him good appeared, but a lot of the old rogues are stuck in a generic stereotyped rut. If you look at Last Knight on Earth, good example, Bane and Scarecrow are just Omega lackies with no agency of their own but the storyline including them still allowed them to get in as figs.

No, its because DC pays royalties when these characters are adapted so writers like Tynyass add in a bunch for royalty fodder.

I like him, Dick's a favorite DC hero for me, but they could definitely improve on his articulation if they do a new one. The new Red Hood is very smooth and posable while Nightwing has some rough articulation in the torso and hips and stiff ratchet joints.

The mcF is 7inch scale so it's taller. Honestly just use whatever 1:12 guns you have laying around from other toys and it should work, even ML or Fortnite stuff.

I'm a little sad that I had to naturally tend toward preferring DC rather than Marvel given how the DC figure community isn't as happy and well adjusted. The Marvel character designs just almost never appeal to me, and a decent number of DC ones do. Yet the figures can't really be easily discussed in a positive and constructive environment.

Fully plastic capes like Todd's also have a downside you know. If you need the character to say sit down or if you have them in a dynamic flying pose, the premolded cape will not always comply. Soft goods is much better at complying for a sitting pose to allow it, and Yamaguchi style insane capes are much better for dynamic poses. There was the Capullo Batman that had a dynamic cape though which would be good for some types of dynamic poses

The difference(s) are that it's not ratcheted, has an ball going into the foot, has a floating ankle overlay which helps with movement AND is well sculpted enough to give the joints an absolute ton of range.

It offers fantastic movement compared to any McFarlane ankle.

It probably helps that 99% of the figures I buy don't have a cape. Looking at my display there's Vision, Loki, Thor, Magneto, Mysterio, Dr Doom, Batman, Superman and Black Knight.

I have the Mafex TDKR Black Batman and Blue Batman & Robin. The figures are so good I tolerate the cloth capes.

I have 20 year old Revo Evangelions from early 00s and they have better ankles than McFarlanes. Unfortunately those ancient Revos have much, much worse hips to the point where they can't do anything but a normal spread leg standing pose. Not sure why they did that back then.

There honestly isn't that much to discuss when it comes to /toys/, aside from what is getting released and what isn't.
If I want a thorough review of a figure I just watch a youtube video and weigh in the pros and the cons.
/toy/ is useful if I want to know whether a figure has glaring flaws right from the get-go, or it happens to have bad QC in a widespread manner. Even though sometimes it's hard to tell what is a genuine flaw and what is simply nitpicking.
Or at least that's often enough the case with McFarlane.
