>>9597517>>9601122>>9605405A chunk of the model is diecast, but you have to remember that diecast is a pretty shit material, so the more delicate and detailed parts are actually plastic. This is likely done because diecast would break easier and plastic holds sharper detail.
If you ever look at hot wheels spaceships and other diecast only lines, the finer parts of ships are also made of plastic or they thicken those delicate areas when they;re fully diecast.
Like 9605405 mentions, the paint can flake off easier on diecast too. This is a common problem with diecast toys, especially when the model is completely matte vs gloss. Matte is unsealed paint, basically, so oils, moisture, etc can seap imto the paint and dislodge the paint from the metal surface. Gloss basically acts as a seal (plastic coat prevents shit from entering the paint) and is why shit like Hot Wheels and other diecast cars seem impervious to harm. Space ships (because they're modeled after jets, ships, etc) don't have glossy coats like cars IRL do.
i have over a dozen of Eaglemoss' spaceships and haven't had this issue though.
Completely love eaglemoss' line and can't wait until they make Babylon 5 ships.
