I want to start collecting Hot Toys; are they worth it?

I've been collecting figures and other things on and off for the last 15+ years, and I've never once owned a Hot Toys figure.

They look great, and I've always been curious about them, but never enough to pull the trigger and get one, especially considering the price

If you have the income and space, go for it. They are great figures/dolls. I'd suggest keeping them in sealed display cases because getting dust on the fabric can be a huge pain to clean

It's worth it to own like 10. They make excellent centerpieces for a collection of things you like. Not just Hot Toys but other 1/6 brands in general. Do some research and ask questions. Despite the boards vitriol towards them they are nice to have. Most can't do extreme poses but they can do really nice natural looking subtle poses that is helped by the usual more detailed sculpts.

Not really. They look great but the appeal of them drops pretty quickly once you finally bit the bullet.

Kind of an old-school man's man vibe, reminds me of how Pedro Pascal looks in Narcos.

Problem is we can't all look like Pedro Pascal, so Michael winds up looking more like a kid wearing his dad's safari gear.
