What do you guys think of the youtube reviewer the review spot? I usually will watch his neca and mcfarlane toys reviews because he doesnt seem as cringe or arrogent as some of the other reviewers on the internet, you guys like him or no?

Not a /toy/ browser, but I used to watch him when I was a kid, stopped for a long time and looked him up again recently and was almost sort of surprised to see he was still going and at the same rate of a million videos every month

The fact that his patreon only has, like, 1 dude giving him a dollar a month or whatever deeply saddens me

He's sort of an "un-cool", goofy dad kind of guy, at least that's how he's always struck me

I went back and watched some of TJs stuff, how is it possible that he could have become even more cringe than before? he posts a video acknowledging that he's too old and its embarassing to review toys on Youtube, you think he has come to his censes but nope he wants to go one more run with it, to see if he can have any level of success with it. Thats always been the charm Ive found with the channel, I dont think he takes the reviewing thing as some bullshit career path, he knows he's literally pointing a camera at a toy and treats it like that, one of the things I like about his channel

Well I've seen a couple dealer tables not giving shartimus the time of day when he's gone up and wanted free figures in exchange for a mention of their site on his channel, one guy told him he didnt want his store attached to his channel and made sure to say it loud enough for the customers around them to hear what was going on

The things i like about review spots videos is that he has the figures right up to the camera so you can see all the scultping of it, hes not spending all the video with the figure farther away and waving his hands in front of the camerra, why do so many reviewers talk with their hands and block DJWSYeverything on the screen

thats one thing Review spot was smart about when he started the channel, at least he went with a name that was company friendly, if you ask me Shartimus started his channel as joke name, and still is a big joke, the only reason I think companies even reach out to him is that he's somehow got traffic numbers and a high sub count I think if not for that they wouldn't have wanted to touch him with a 10 ft pole

The majority of my collection I think is because of the reviews of ReviewSpot, guys got a relaxed approach and even stuff I wasnt sure I really wanted I ended buying because of his videos

I watched older Spot reviews he did on some of the older Toy Biz figures made wayyy back. I was looking for a good Doctor Octopus figure. Also a good Nightcrawler as well. The Toy Biz Series VIII Doctor Octopus was one review he did. As well as a few others. The Toy Biz one was the most expensive at the time but also it was well worth the money. I'd rather spend $70.00 on that figure which I love, over say paying $35.00-40.00 for one I really don't care for. Nightcrawler was the same. I ended up getting the entire wave. The Galactus BAF wave with Professor X, War Machine, Hulk(w/variant), Bullseye(w/variant), Dr.Strange, again Nightcrawler, etc. His channel has been great when I decide or think I want a older figure. I haven't bought anything off eBay in a while. However when I did Spot was a honest way to find out if a figure was decent or shit!

I've been watching him for about 4 years I guess and yeah he gets companies sending him stuff which he seems to openly disclose in the videos, he still is critical of the things. He might not say this is garbage but he'll at least list the positive things about the figure and mention the things that could have been improved upon. Shartimus has a figure falling apart in his hands and he'll still say guys this figure is awesome would recommend that you pick it up, thats the difference between a reviewer and a shill

Its interesting how Review Spot and Shartimus are generally used in comparing reviewers, I think these two have a history, dont think Sharty likes him very much probably sees him as some competition, I think the only reason why Review spot isn't a channel that gets brought up more is because somehow the youtube algorythm has supported shartimusprime and seems to have ignored review spot, Spots got a high sub count but it doesnt seem like he gets the immediate traffic that shartimus gets, that fucking sucks
