Yeah, this is getting to be outrageous. I am actually priced out of Hasbro figures if they keep this up. They're just not worth it at that price point imo. I'll still get the absolute must haves, but so long are the days of impulse purchasing a random z-lister just because I want some of the parts from it. At least, not until they hit a discount. I'd encourage others to do the same but this is hardly an issue isolated to just toys. Everything is getting more expensive, from every day goods, to gas, to food. It's a slippery slope, I'm not sure if we're at hyperinflation yet, but goddamn it sure feels like it. Go compare prices of literally anything now to a year ago.

The prices on everything are way up. Shipping is up, material costs are up, wages are up even in China. Inflation is here to stay. The thing with this is hasbro they are seeing what they can get away with. A 25% price increase in a year seems insane even during a pandemic until you remember people have been paying $25-40 for “premium” fan channel releases for the past 2 years. Shareholders know retards will already pay that for a ML, why not try to push it to the whole line to make up for what they are losing and come out on top above that? Ever increasing profits even during a pandemic, that’s what they want.

For Marvel Legends I'd say yeah you're probably right. When they were releasing the 80th Anniversary stuff and finishing off the Jim Lee X-Men team was the peak of Marvel Legends. The stuff we get now is nice and all but nothing feels quite like having to get all the must haves from that era.

Not much of a /biz/ guy either but it never goes down, some things always flux in price over a few months but always seems to bounce back higher and higher. Long before Sleept Joe, Crazy uncle Donnie, DroBama, there was a guy named Billy Bush I vaguely remember as president and costs have never gone down from then.

I remember getting all kinds of toys besides Legos for much cheaper and had more with them. I also remember renting a house nearly three times the size of what I have now for less than half the cost. I could buy a used car for a few grand and it was cherry. But you know what has stayed pretty close to what it was now? My wages haven't moved that much, I've had to job hop to get a decent raise.

I'd have owned my own house by now if it wasn't for every boomer selling their homes to firms and then acting all surprised that rent is going to nearly double over the few years. I doubt anyone will be buying that many toys sooner than later.

It actually works. It's been tried in a bunch of places and it actually does lead to decreased drug use, less overdoses, and less collateral damage from drug use. Saves hospital space, and frees up manpower for medical staff and police to deal with other things.

The Golden Age was the 00s for toys, going into the early 10s.
Everything today is a downgrade.

Prices have been going up significantly since 2011. MLs went from $8 in the late 00s to $15 by 2012 or 2013. By 2015, there hadn't been a price increase for 6" figures until last year.
Despite Hasbro's shitty budget for toys when they got the license in the late 00s, they managed to improve on their toys year after year. IT wasn't until 2012 that you started to see cheaper engineering and articulation being cut.

There's been some improvements, but budgets aren't anywhere close to what they were in the 00s. Not from ANY toy company. Not McFarlane. Not Good Smile. Not Kaiyodo. Not NECA. Not Mezco. Not DCC.
Almost all changes to toys were because it was cheaper to do it that way.

I don't think there were more toylines being released per year than in the 80s.

But they're all outdated and outmodded trash. Same with 90s toys. Yeah, there's some great sculpts and the beginnings of the modernity of toys, but they're all severly lacking in one way or another.

Mid-00s toys can still hold up today. Same with late 00 toys. SOME early 00s kinda sorta hold up, but not really, even if they have some god-tier paint apps.
And that's one of those crux budgetary things for how the 00s have some of the best toys ever produced. You could make a super articulated toy with high end paint apps for CHEAP as fuck.

Once China started asking for more money, every toyline by every toy company in the world suffered. Either asking for more money or just cutting the budgets.
