I'm gonna play armchair Glyos maker here but this is what I'd do if I were in his shoes:

Presently due to Covid-induced issues, shipping from China is probably fucking him over very hard.

Jesse needs to ditch those big expensive boxes and just put the AOFTMs in opaque bags like he does with the Frankenslices. It'd save him so much money and weight on materials and shipping. If he still wants to ship orders out in a shipping box, then fine, but cut down the weight by going to bags instead those those overly thick expensive looking boxes. Also, if he wanted to, he could put that savings towards making better (PAINTED) figures for AFOTM.

Secondly, this man needs to throw a goddamed store sale. He's sitting on unsold stock and is constantly complaining about his shrinking outdoor cabana/hut/sunroom/whatevertheHellitis storage space for store inventory. Jesse, face the fact that you may have to store some store inventory inside your home.

Thirdly, GET CREATIVE AND OFFER SOMETHING UNIQUE:

If he wants to sell his old stock, and it's Material Styles that are sitting around, why not paint them up or contact your Artist buddies and have them come paint them up and sell them as blind custom figure bags? Those would fly out of the store. You did it before in the past and they sold out fast. DO IT AGAIN.
His accessory packs and capsules don't sell well either so take those and use them as fodder for the custom figures too. Paint them up too. Make CUSTOM-PAINTED BLIND-BAGGED Frankenslices out of all this stuff that's just sitting around.

Lastly, you have stuff like chrome Pizza Knight head pins, the big comic books, ashcan comics, and postcards.

Throw the pins in with the custom figure bags and add some of their cost to the custom bags asking price.

Offer the comics in a full-collection option bundle at a discount so you can move a few books for a few dollars less than just move 1 book at full retail price.

End rant.

I feel like Jesse does not understand his own audience or the difference between his product and traditional glyos stuff. A lot of the draw of the Onell, Godbeast, Callgrim, Roboforce, etc stuff is that its able to be built into crazy new things. >>9621164 is a great example. But these newer glyos, the MM and KOTS, are not the same. They have significantly lower degrees of modularity and buildability. Can you still make cool shit? Yes, of course, but not as easily and definitely not as cleanly. The parts involved simply look too much like recognizable body parts to be swapped around without it looking bizarre.

The market for KOTS is as modular action figures. You're not building mechs out of KOTS, you're swapping heads and arms around to create a cool looking humanoid. Thats like 99% of what I see them used for, with 1% them being used to add heads or hands to other glyos combos. And the thing is, no one wants a fucking unplainted action figure; not unless they're one of the few customizers out there. This is why the "Materials" figures sell for shit. Its not like with a Mushi or a armorvor where you can throw out blanks and people will still want them because they're fodder for builds.

What people want out of KOTS is cool action figures they can mix and match parts from to create their own cool action figures. To me, the best thing Jesse could do is start releasing waves of "Themed" figures. Ie figures that all work together in terms of their coloration and design. That way people could do whatever mixing and matching they desire from that pool of figures and be inclined to buy the entire drop instead of just 1 or 2 because all the releases are different from each other.

I think complaints of the material styles clogging up the store is not an overreaction. We have a little under 20 Materials/Materials w/some paint on them in stock right now. Rift Killer is a popular figure, but nobody seems to want it in unpainted pink, so I think the color choices are another issue contributing to the unsold product.

From KotS my collecting experience, the ONLY material styles that sell for good money are:

A.) Ones that were made in small numbers or hard to get(early Patreon-exclusive materials).

-or-

B.) Ones fans always want for customizing (pizza knights, hyper knights, vector jump armor, device ninjas, Cen-5, and any material figure made in clear pvc colors like those material styles of all the micros).

Material Styles of Old Knight, Star Marshall, Hackerman, Cyma, Desert Rat still sell, but usually close to MSRP. If these figures are made in clear pvc, they sell for double their MSRP on the aftermarket.

Jesse has addressed most of this. Boxes have changed again, he is really attached to afotm's presentation and wants something additional for it.

Store sale happens over the summer, generally beginning of August. The workshop is more or less Jesse's second home and between covid and weather conditions he doesnt always get the opportunity to go back and forward. A majority of the space being taken up is from his frankenslice assembly and non standard kots items that take up alot of space, rex gannons, mega knights, 1000 toys, etc.

What anyone considers creative is a subjective thing.

Jesse literally just did 40 custom cherubians, he generally doesnt have the time to sit and hand paint, he tried to do that for 2019 and that became to much for him. Nothing is preventing anyone from making and selling custom figures, many of them show up for sale often.

Capsules are done, there are no more going to be made, they take up space but they do slowly sell. Accessories also sell slow but they dont take up much space, more of those get ordered only when he runs out.

Pins, post cards, etc, generally they are given away at conventions, I imagine Jesse is ordering these differently now to reflect online line sales now that he isnt going to all the shows anymore

Anything is possible, but even if we had a wave of matching styles, who would be willing to go in on that and to what degree? Would people want that across all/some of the makers? I know KotS exists in its own bubble, but I would love to see a crossover here or there. A Kabuto Mushi Cromega or Cen 5 Robo Force crossover would be awesome. I feel it would do well, but I know there are KotS collectors that don't dip into the other Glyos lines.

To add to this, making Lenticular stickers can't be that hard or expensive since Jesse Destasio and PJ Bartlett spit out Lenticular KotS and Geodraxus stickers of all shapes and sizes every time they debut a new AFOTM figure or have a new Geodraxus drop. Jesse just debuted 2 new Lenticular stickers as "trading cards" in his store.

Mighty Maniax - New Robot figure.

Onell Design - New Sincroborg figure.

Nemo's Factory - AV Robot returns (was delayed by Covid disruptions).

Space Out Design/Geodraxus - Geodraxus Pacific Rim Stryker Eureka homage.

Spy Monkey Creations/Battle Tribes - MOTU Roboto homage.

Toyfinity/Robo Force - BIG final Robo-Force drop.

ToyPizza - Cen5 figures.

Warlords of Wor - Justice League Cyborg homage.

2022 is Year of the Monster because apparently several creators have new Monster figures debuting.
Maybe that means Toyfinity's Manglors will happen in 2022?
Or Knights of the Slice will finally get a figure of the Trilobite King?
We will just have to wait and see.

Holographic stickers shine all sorts of rainbow colors in the light. Lenticular stickers utilize several "frames" of animation which are viewable at different angles as you move the sticker back and forth.

I get why some people are upset with KotS.

Most Glyos makers have only done pvc color swaps with their toys. For example, KabutoMushi, where you would have to buy 2 & swap their colors back to get fully solid 1 color figures. The makers that do this are Banimon, BioMasters, Callgrim, Godbeast, Nistuff, RoboForce, & Weaponeers of Monnka.

Power Lords also did pvc color swaps & sold their missing extra heads as a pack or put heads between 2 versions of a figure, like having to buy 2 Adam Powers to get both of his helmets.

Mighty Maniax only did parts swaps on 2 of their MOTU homages.

Onell Design goes further than the rest, & does pvc color swaps, & did surprise extra freebie parts, but also used to just sell you the extra head & torso parts. Nowadays all the extra parts are included with a figure you buy. Matt recently did try to scatter a figure around with the clear smoke Sincroborg, but some customers(not me)gave him a lot of shit for that move & I don't expect him to try that experiment again.

And this bring us to Knights of the Slice...It is an entirely different beast. No other Glyos maker,(other than Matt recently), has scattered their figure's parts to the extent that Jesse has done with his Frankenslices. Now, these have yielded some very cool results, but people understandably don't want KotS to become a line that is a constant flow of retroactive Build-A-Figures where you have to buy every single figure released, some of whose parts may be exclusive to the Patreon preorders or AFOTM figures or super limited Frankenslices, just so you can piece back together the original base figure forms.
For outsiders looking in, it comes across as a deliberate scattering of whole toys to force more $ale$. It twists customers arms to buy more figures than they normally would just so they have all the parts on hand to rebuild the original figures. Collecting IS fun, but when it becomes a frustrating costly scavenger hunt, it quickly becomes a job & loses its enjoyment.

Time and effort wise for a one-man operation, the idea for Frankenslice instructions is a good one. Jesse would just have to build 1 Frankenslice, photograph it, and then generate instructions for it with pictures of the donor figures. You could make that in minutes in MSpaint. But he'd rather sit in his hut for a whole day and build 10, 50, 100 Frankenslices.

This may come off as an asshole move, but he could probably sell out entire drops by enticing customers to buy every figure offered in said drop so they can use them and the drop's Frankenslice Instructions to build that drop's BAF Frankenslice figure. It's Marvel Legends all over again. You could even convince people to buy doubles just so they can have all the drop's figures plus the Frankenslice displayed on their shelves. Dastardly I know, but it may boost his sales further and eliminate future product clogging up precious warehouse hut space.

What knights of the slice has done here is taken the build a figure concept and turned it inside out. Instead of buying a couple complete figures a drop and using their parts to make a new character, he's selling a bunch of jumbled figures that can then be disassembled to make complete figures. It's ass backwards. It's like if Matt sold us a Pheyden with Armorvor limbs on drop night and then offered us an Armorvor with Gobon limbs 2 months later and then offered us a Gobon with with Pheyden limbs 6 months later and each of these figures colors matched when their limbs were restored to their respective molds. It's bizarroworld.

You're not wrong, but that's not the point or intent at all. For better and worse, Jesse is a largely character/concept driven guy. I'd really say that the Frakenslices are 50% convenience, and 50% Jesse genuinely thinking they're a cooler idea than just the base figures themselves.

He's not trying to sell you a mish-mash part-swap for you to undo, he's trying to sell you whatever the Frankenslice /is/ because he thought it was cool. I don't think recreating the original figures is really a factor to how or why he's selling these.

And I get why some people think that's whack, but that's kinda the KotS line in a nutshell. Ass-backwards and more than a little obtuse. Half the time it feels like Jesse is more selling what he wants than what people might actually like, so he's consistent if nothing else. And active, hence why these threads consistently devolve into talking about KotS.

Here's all the figures you would have to buy to rebuild the orange device ninja. The silver headed Cyma and the Winter Frankenslice Bugman aren't necessary, but they are also a second way to obtain the necesaary feet and collar armor parts.

This WON'T be cheap, & it requires DAILY dedication, but it'll help you tremendously in having to avoid missing out on most figures & paying a harsh eBay aftermarket price to...that who shall not be named. If that turns you off from the line, just walk away right now, & go collect some other Glyos line for babies because this line ain't for the faint of heart. This is a toy line for men. Real men! Men with big, hard, veiny, muscly, throbbing bo- *Ahem!* This is a toy line for Men. Anyways, moving on...

1.) Be prepared to buy-into & buy EVERYTHING. That means singing up for the Patreon, the AFOTM ($50 level so you get the variant figure too), & whatever is offered in the store drops. Jesse isn't joking around when he says to sign up for that Patreon! You'll need it! Doing this will ensure you get 98% of any parts to a figure that gets cannibalized for Frankenslice fodder. Accept that, NO MATTER WHAT, you will potentially miss out on any parts you need from Frankenslices that are randomly determined, like the recent Winter bags. In this case, you gotta check MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY on eBay, or the Facebook, or ask on the Discord for the Frankenslice figure or the parts from it that you desire. Be prepared to trade more so than buy from folks on the Discord. Be prepared that you may have to buy from...HIM...on eBay.

Ok? I really didn't hate that head like everyone else did. It feels right in line with this kinda crappy cheapo toy feel KOTS has (and believe it or not, I mean that in a fond/positive way). Reminds me of the early 90s, when you'd get some figure with an awesome looking cardback painting and the figure itself is a mushy mess that looks nothing like it.

I'm sure people will call me a Jesse cocksucker or something cause you can excuse practically anything this way, but at least to me, there is a distinct difference between "fondly reminds me of crappy toys from my childhood" and "I clearly put zero effort into this release."

Guys, I had sort of a little revelation today. I was just Googling around for random shit and I stumbled upon the KOTS Facebook page by mistake. I had never seen it before, since I abandoned FB years ago. And it was just full of...fun. People having fun with their toys. Creative mashups and great color schemes. Bleak scenery shots. Matching squads. The kinds of things people do when they actually genuinely enjoy toys. It was an eye-opener.

It made me realize that only hanging out here is like a real echo chamber. You start to almost get brainwashed after a while. I had this mostly negative impression of KOTS since I get most of my Glyos news and talk from these threads, and the talk here is largely bashing Jesse, painting the fans as moronic simps, calling the line ugly and shitty, etc. I heard all that stuff for so long I almost started to drink the koolaid. I'm gonna post some of the cooler stuff I found, in hopes that some of the angry people in this thread might remember how to have fun again.

It just looks bad to me regardless. The helmet makes me think she's wearing a bicycle helmet, and the chainmail makes her head into this weird cylinder. I think if they wanted to do chainmail it should have been a drapey shape that fell over her shoulders, this is just weird.

It's perfectly normal to love something but still voice your honest opinions, criticisms, and complaints you may have about it. Nah, I didn't mean like that. That extends out too far. I just mean a light drape that would be shaped kind of like Living Laser's head-dome, and "float" above the body a little to give it some mobility. I think that little bit of wiggle room would have made it compatible with most bodies too.

Hell, if you made it thin enough the edges could even be slightly flexible, to move out of the way for posing or thicker bodies.

In a normal business, maybe. Matt has never been the type to sit around twiddling his thumbs and amassing money, he's a very hands-on owner. He has assisted with pretty much every third party Glyos line personally, and even sculpted for many of them himself. Even if he's not putting out mainline drops himself, it's almost guaranteed he's working on something in the background, often for someone else.

If you mean "a Sucklord thing" as in ironically bad, well, sorta. KOTS is definitely kinda tongue-in-cheek, and it is emulating the somewhat crappy toylines from the late 80s- early 90s. But the other half of it is just a guy with a huge imagination and rather childlike drawing skills, making the toyline of his dreams. Jesse has been pumping out comics and drawings at a frantic pace ever since he was a kid, and KOTS is the realization of that.

I've met Jesse a few times and he was a cool guy in person, that's all I know. And that all happened before KOTS even existed. I respected his hustle then because he seems to draw even more than me, who is an actual employed professional artist, and I still respect it now. His technical skills are admittedly not the greatest, but he still draws like there's no tomorrow, and I really respect that in a person.

This is the type of build that reaffirms why I love this toyline. Even the fist as part of the gun is perfect, it gives this strange, alien, teeth-like feel. Like, it has the same vibe as some of the old Dark Horse Alien comics, when Xenos seemed to be composed of clumps of hair pulled out of the drain and gristle and rotting plant matter.
