>>9653062Oh I agree that the game was made for brother Nier, writing out the Kaine romance undertones doesn't change the fact that the cutscene animations never changed. That and the fact that Square Enix was right to say that a father/daughter relationship would appeal more in the west, it's a lot more compelling to me. Jamieson Price also does a phenomenal job voicing him, I like Ray Chase a lot as adult brother Nier but Zach Aguilar as young brother Nier was really weak
>>9653663I actually just genuinely prefer Gestalt over Replicant Ver. 1.22 as a whole video game. The "improved" combat is still just as shallow, just flashier. Most of the soundtrack remixes aren't as good as the originals. The graphics are more polished, but the old models had a lot more charm to them and I'm not a fan of how different Kaine in particular looks with her completely different facial structure and different eye color. The voice acting is also a lot weaker. The aforementioned Jamieson Price's deliveries were USUALLY better than bro Nier's voice actors, but more importantly Kaine and Weiss both had way better delivery in the original despite retaining their voice actors. They also missed a huge opportunity to have Kaine playable for all of route B. The new content is excellent though, that stuff alone makes playing the remaster worth it. Papa Nier definitely would've been nice as an option (or even DLC) though, considering his model is still in the game
