Because the original also looks like a shitty toy. Personally I've always wondered if making the turbo man figure in the movie look like a crappy toy was done on purpose to heighten the comedy of the plot.

That's the 14 inch figure and it uses a different mold. Tiger released two Turbo man figures - the 14 inch and the 10 inch. The Funko is a rerelease of the 10 inch figure.

Shared this around Xmas time a few months ago. I got ahold of the guy who was helping with the kickstarter and bought the stls from him.
Took about a week to print, sand, prime and paint. All pieces are solid resin. Way happier with this than the store bought mainly because it’s not easy to get ahold of. It articulates but I just keep it in the box to avoid wear and tear since it’s handmade.

The tiger and funko are exactly the same besides the logos on the packaging.
