Just passed ep 6 of CGI and as cheesy as some parts are (which I honestly don't really mind) I quite like the character moments. Krass has been a bit of a bum so far, but she'll probably have her moment. I'm now hoping that MV covers more than just He-Man and Skeletor. Would love most of this cast. In that form (hopefully they can nail the faces in what will likely be a slightly aged and more realistic aesthetic). Stratos is obviously plotting something with his little crew he's assembling but I really liked him in ep 6 compared to previous episodes. Webstor's frustration with him was also fun (such a small moment, but a good way to show some characterization to what was so far otherwise a mostly mindless monster).

Last thread I made a post (before watching the show) about how the Stratos character should have been Buzz-Off, both because Buzz-Off seems to lend himself more to "cocky showoff" than Stratos, and because we probably would have gotten a more appealing design than notFalcon >watch the show. Stratos puts together a team comprised of bug characters Ok, seriously, WHY was he not Buzz-Off?

If you got to be showrunner for the next MotU cartoon, how would you structure it so everyone gets enough screen time for characterization? I like how the CGI show handled He-Man and Skeletor's origins with a tight cast of 5 heroes, 3 Evil Warriors, & King Randor & the elder Sorceress. I also think Keldor/Skeletor, Evil-Lyn and Kronis had a great dynamic as the initial villains. Man-at-Arms can be one of the starter heroes, but I'd want to go back to him being an adult, just because Mekaneck and Rotar have "cyborg surgery by Duncan" as their origins and that feels too weird if he's a teenager. Along with him, He-Man, Teela and Cringer, Ram Ma'am could be retained as an original hero if doing the jungle tribe origin again but replace her with Orko if returning to Adam never being separated from his parents. Then have our heroes running around on a diplomatic mission for King Randor where they go to Avion, the Bee People (I'd give CGI Stratos' character to Buzz-Off), Aquatica and Kobra Khan's Reptons. Along the way they'd run into weird loners like Beast Man (retaining his new backstory with Cringer), Webstor, Fisto (who's already allied his forest to Skeletor ala Filmation), the demon Whiplash and Sy-Klone. I'd also introduce Spikor as the smith who turns wounded Kronis into Trap Jaw. Skeletor recruits Beast Man and Tr-Klops (with his mini-comic background as a mercenary adventurer) and succeeds in a coup against his brother. Characters get sorted into those supporting Skeletor, He-Man's Masters + Avion, and Buzz-Off's Heroic Warriors. Merman tries to remain everyone's friend instead of fighting, the Reptons retreat from Kobra Khan, and the Evil Warriors retreat to Snake Mountain after Skeletor fuses Lts Tuvar and Baddhra of the Royal Guard for incompetence and arguing. Man-at-Arms finds pre-Mekaneck as a refugee separated from his wife and son and critically injured, saving him, and also creates Roboto. The next big decision would be how soon to introduce the Horde.

I just got my Flying Fists He-man. He looks pretty slick in hand. Gonna do a photo with him soon. I am thinking the vintage sheild looks better with him, at first glance the new shield is comically smaller. His vintage head is quite loose, I suspect due to the different torso and a misaligned neck peg.
Anonymous
>>9661537 I've been Frosta posting on here for a year and a half to get her made. I want an update of a few of the old PoP toys and so far Origins has done an amazing job of updating them.
On the other hand Masterverse has been really underwhelming for me. Every He-Man has looked derpy, and I found the ones I have bought (Skelegod and Mossman) don't balance very well and I don't care about accessories like extra hands. Give me action features.
My prediction is that Frosta will come out and peg warm, then that will signal Mattel there is no interest in PoP.

>>9661587 >I don't care about accessories like extra hands. Give me action features. I'd say your best bet is to stick with the CGI toys or Origins. Masterverse is about the extra parts, articulation, etc, and that's what the line is about. That stuff is what I'm after in in a MOTU line, so it's the one for me, just gotta find what's right for you. Also ya, Moss Man was a huge botch, I don't know how they managed that. You should grab a standard bodied figure like Stinkor or Spikor to get a feel for how a regular figure in the line feels, and if you still want things like action features, time to look elsewhere.

And the worst thing was the soft goods. You compare the soft goods on Origins She-ra to the soft goods on the vintage, and they're just awful.
I unironically consider She-ra the worst Origin figure so far.
>Do you think a MV Frosta would be better Hard to say. Origins is mostly better than MV, but they beat Origins with Stinkor and MAA, so it's not outside the realm of possibility.
Anonymous
>>9661858 >Hard to say. Origins is mostly better than MV, but they beat Origins with Stinkor and MAA, so it's not outside the realm of possibility. What a subjective thing to say. If we're doing straight comparisons though, I'll also say MV won with MAA, Fisto, the upcoming Teela. Scareglow loses pretty badly, Rev He-Man and Skeletor lose, but (personally) I think NE He-Man and Skeletor win. There's technically Tri-Klops and Trap-Jaw as well to compare, but not exactly fair since they're deluxe.
Also it makes no sense to compare any of them, they both have their own unique styles and features.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>9661877 >Also it makes no sense to compare any of them, they both have their own unique styles and features. Well, he asked whether I thought MV could do a better Frosta than Origins, so I answered.
And there's also what your criteria is in comparing them.
Like, since you mention Scareglow, if you take him as an example, Origins beats MV because he glows better...bit what if you're comparing them just based on the sculpt and how the figure looks? I think MV is a better looking Scareglow than Origins, but I still say Origins Scareglow is the overall Scareglow.
Evil-lyn is another one. I don't like the MV costume, or the colors, but then Origins kind of a bad face sculpt, not just in comparison to MV Lyn, but even compared to other Origins women. (I think Sorceress is the best looking Origins lady to date)
Anonymous
>>9661877 >There's technically Tri-Klops and Trap-Jaw as well to compare, but not exactly fair since they're deluxe. The Motherboard cult with Tri-Klops, Trap Jaw, cyberdemon Whiplash and Blast Attack was interesting. I'd like to see another subset of Evil Warriors have such interesting dynamics in Skeletor's absence.

>>9661858 I agree about the soft good being poor.
On the hair sculpt I disagree because, coming from my perspective as someone whose sister had PoP toys growing up, the hair becomes a frizzy mess very easily. The hair sculpt could be better but at least its not going to turn into natty dreads.
The other argument for Origins is that they make better actual toys. My kids play with these and the MV ones don't seem as play friendly. As the other anon noted, MV appeals to him because they have better articulation. Maybe " action features" was the wrong term to use.

Sorceress Lyn is a brand new design that could even pass off for another character, and has never been made before. I've been seeing more and more people complaining since Pixel Dan's teaser image went out that we're just getting more and more of the same characters, and sure this is Evil-Lyn, but it's something that's never been done before. It'd focus on Skeletor and Hordak, and there'd be some side quests with a few Snake Men + secret bosses of obscure characters (one being the space suit in Castle Grayskull). A man can dream. A Metroidvania where the game world is Castle Grayskull, Snake Mountain and the caves between them with the Three Towers able to be raised and sunk would be brilliant if it included all the deep cuts from CG & SM, from the space suit to King Hiss' mystic pit.

My personal complete Evil Warriors team includes Fang Man, Strongarm, Icer, Batros, Goat Man, Gygor, Draego-Man, and lately I've even already started incorporating the frog, witch, and cyclops from the boxart teases in my ideas for future display scenarios.

Yes. When you count everyone, the Heroic Warriors become outnumbered, Which is fine for some setups, but I was talking about a tactical RPG where each side is playable.

So... if you were able to do a MotU spinoff where He-Man, Teela, Man-At-Arms and Orko aren't hogging the spotlight, which of these characters would you send off on their own? In fiction to date, most of them have pretty weak connections to the A-listers except the King and Queen, Sorceress, Roboto (now that he's been depicted as Duncan's son/Teela's brother), Mekaneck and Rotar (because Duncan did their cyber surgery).

>>9666032 I would think it would get the same or similar reaction to Revelation. Did you see how offended some people got by He-Man's line that "it isn't about us" or whatever he said? It often feels like the motu fanbase is more of a He-Man/Skeletor fanbase, which makes sense, given he's the protag and antag, but there are lots of other characters too that could carry on interesting content.
Well, anyways, to answer the question, I'm not liking this Stratos disrespect, so I'd want to give him some spotlight. Give the people a reason to care about him. More Zodac(/k) would also be good. Perhaps it could involve him observing parts of the motu universe, maybe even in space-time, allowing people to see things in the age of He-Ro and Grayskull as well, among others, as well as his need to interfere when the balance shifted, for good or for bad. We could also see his reaction to his actions, maybe he isn't this true neutral character, maybe he'd rather always be doing good, but has to fulfill his role.
Anonymous
>>9666193 I think Zodac and his neutrality shtick just need some simplification and clarification, none of this "cosmic balance" nonsense that essentially makes him unusable in any truly interesting way.
What he needs is 1) stationed on Eternia full time so he is there to engage with the story and 2) a definitive goal that drives his character. Male it something that doesn't wholely align with either He-Man or Skeletor so that way his allegiance can be more fluid depending on which faction at a given time more closely furthers what he's trying to accomplish.
I think that kind of thing is why Zodak seems to get more love than Zodac. He felt more defined and less abstract
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>9666212 Zodak did have a clear goal, avenge his brother and fuck up the snakes. But the lack of aim and his neutrality is a unique aspect in MOTU, there are no other characters like that. Like you said though, a definitive goal or aim of either Zodac himself or his group would help out his character. Being permanently stationed on Eternia I may disagree with, because if he was, whenever something was going on people could complain, where was Zodac, and thus the stakes would automatically be lowered. If it wasn't important enough for Zodac to show up, it probably wasn't a big deal. You could also show him creeping in whatever home base he got, observing on monitors, or just floating off in the distance in his chair. Also his power level could use some defining. Or just make him a space bounty hunter if that's all getting too hard to write. He definitely has potential.

Eh, who am I kidding. Not like a Masterverse figure would be much better quality. I guarantee it wouldn't be painted as well as the original 200x figures.

People are absolutely going to consoom things only because they see it on TV and the snakes didn't have any presence in revelation or CGI yet. Unlike mosquitor

So, you guys think we're gonna get any more origins reveals? So far it's been pretty disappointing. Three figures we've already seen and two variants of characters we already have. King Randor looks pretty cool though

>>9670828 I was amped up to collect 200x but the only figures I ever consistently saw were Disco Skeletor or Ice Armor He-Man so I just gave up. I managed to collect a basic Skeletor the day that the line dropped at my TRU, along with Trap Jaw and Whiplash, then nothing. Turns out that all of the collectors in my area have super autism and needed to adhere to the rule of 3 with toy purchases. Because of all of that nonsense 200x ended up being solely about the cartoon for me.

These official reveals don't have a single Evil Warrior or Horde (not counting that Kobra Khan, that's a poor quality leak rather than a official reveal). No vehicles, no deluxes, this would be a very weak set of reveals if this is all we get.
