>>9663139I got heavily into collecting around 2009, peaked around 2016, and fell off in recent years, especially once Earthrise started. I sold off some things and lately I've only picked up little odds and ends that are interesting to me, mostly older stuff. I often go several months between purchases.
I'm not really into Transformers for the franchise itself or the characters, I just like transforming vehicle robots, so I'm not really on the hook waiting for any certain figure, to fill out any kind of checklist, or to keep buying/replacing/updating my collection. I've got tons of bots that I love, in varying styles, gimmicks, and transformation schemes, and it's gotten to the point where I rarely see anything that I feel would bring something new to my collection.
>>9663163>How can you not when its been a cycle of buying slight improvements of the same characters for decades now?Basically, this. A lot of my early collecting involved Classics, which were stylized and unique updates of characters, and Hasui-era MP, which were slavish, highly-detailed G1 wank. The design direction on current toys seems to be "MP Lite"; something between the simplicity of CHUG, and the rigid accuracy of MP, but without the novelty of the former or the budget and quality of the latter. Makes it real easy to pass on a lot of stuff.
