I don't buy aftermarket unless it's cheaper than the original retail. Otherwise it's just feeding scalpers and promoting artificial scarcity.

Besides, almost any toy you would want to get, someone will inevitably release a newer, better, or reissued version eventually.

Aftermarket and scalping aren't necessarily the same. Fuck scalpers and supporting them but I'm definitely not expecting anyone to sell me a figure for below market value. I'm not gonna give a very good deal to no stranger either.

On top of that, if a figure is 10 or 20 years out of production, you're probably not going to find many that are necessarily in the condition you're looking for. Or complete with all accessories, or don't have scuffing or or other issues. You're just paying for something you legitimately can't get anymore.

Its totally different from neckbeards with fanny packs, bum rushing Target to clear the shelves of new items just to flip them on eBay for 3x the retail price.

$250ish for this little mini figure. Hot Topic exclusive blind box, 1/72 rarity (equals a 1/6 chance your Hot Topic will even have it) (if they got the figures in). There were two within the next 50 miles of me that I stalked for a few weeks without any results. I had to not only beat the scalpers (I know they were there because they beat me to other minis in the line) too. I just paid up scalper prices just to own it (not in my area, from several states over). I don't regret that much because the figure I received flawless (in a line where QC issues can be present too) and it brought me peace of mind and stress.

I had gotten Guy-Manuel for much cheaper, but I could find no such deal for silver man. Ordinarily I would not spend so much on a relatively normal figure, but you can’t just have one member of a duo, and after they split, the prices went way up.

Percentage wise over msrp, Titans Return Misfire. I kept waiting for him to show up locally and by the time I realized he wasn't, he was up to $50. I didn't pull the trigger until he was at $80 and he's gone up even more since then.
Generally, though, if I don't get something as I comes out and at retail, I'm not gonna get it
