So, I've been thinking...we've talked about 200x He-Man and Skeletor as being part of regular 4 figure waves.

But in wave 1, it He-Man and Skeletor plus 4 figures. Then wave 5 was vintage head He-Man and Skeletor plus 4 figures.
So what if wave 9 is both 200x He-Man AND Skeletor, plus 4 characters (say minicomic Trap Jaw, Randor, Whiplash and one of the Sun Man guys)? I mean, so far, He-Man and Skeletor have never just been part of a standard 4 figure assortment, they've accompanied them

For the last fucking time the rights to the new She-Ra series and designs is not included with the rights package that Mattel is working with for Masterverse. If they wanted to make figures based on that series they would have to pay extra licensing money to Dreamworks and it's not going to fucking happen.

on first glance i was a bit miffed about another beast man since I would not have bought the revelations one had i known that a more traditional beast man was coming ..... but the second armor set looks like it might be an apology for that so i am good.

if they do another merman i totally expect them to give an alt cool ass armor set to make me happy to own both

one thing though .... why haven't they shown she-ra? she has been teased for a good long while now and yet we have seen not one shot and all of a sudden we are getting all these releases

CGI Skeletor is amazing. I bet since this is "New Masterverse Villains" we'll get a "New Masterverse Heroes" with CGI He-Man, She-Ra, Stratos, Frosta, and Battle Armor He-Man.

Anyways, for these, Beast Man looks good. Mix of classic with the addition of New Eternia gear.
Always liked Catra's hair and face from Classics, so hope she has a likewise nice head. I'm used to her sword, too.
Hordak is just great, what a fun surprise. Assuming he's a deluxe, I wonder why no wired cape. If he's not a deluxe, wtf he comes with so much shit.
Jitsu looks excellent. His face is so normal, almost looks like he could be a good guy rather than an Evil Warrior. Good to see him. Hope to see Ninjor too, and also Slamurai, cause all the Asian characters are villains which is kind of funny.

Sure, it's possible that they're a refresh of the only-He-Man and only-Skeletor SKUs, or one new SKU packed as half and half cases. We really don't know Mattel's plan for keeping them "evergreen" given the mess that's caused at brick and mortar.

I like everything but the head sculpt, like it either needs more detail, or to be more filmation-y. It doesn't have the gross vampire look, doesn't have the bio-mechanical filmation look, it's just a bit too soft and almost alien.
But that Skeletor, Catra, Jitsu and Beastman are great. I'm all in for that Skeletor. It's really nice to see this line gaining its footing after some pretty lackluster Revalations. I currently have no Masterverse save for the first Skeletor, He-Man and Skelegod who are packed away, but between these and the New Eternia Skeletor I'm down for this line. Really hope they make a proper Scareglow that actually glows and doesn't have a peanut head. Would be cool if they added a few extra parts and took some liberties like Jitsu.

Considering Battle Armor He-Man, Flying Fists He-Man, Terror Claws Skeletor and Jitsu all have chrome parts, very unlikely. I don't see why they can do it for the cheaper Origins line and not on these.

I was never particularly a fan of this look, but this figure actually looks nice so I might bite on her. I haven't really been into MotU stuff since the original line, but this Masterverse stuff has some nice looking figures. Tbh the head makes it more of a Hordak hybrid and kinda throws me off. Everything else is just a more detailed filmation, but the headsculpt looks incredibly undefined and bland. Wish they'd have just gone all in and done a creepy filmation style head instead of this one. It looks great aside from that damn soft head that could use more detail.

So, if yesterday was Origins heroes, and today is Masterverse villains, logically the next two days are Origins villains and Masterverse heroes, so what's Friday? CGI reveals? Vehicles and playsets?

It's hard to choose. Orko, Rotar and Twistoid each feel like little more than half a figure, but Classics gave the Energy Zoids legs and some lines have released Orko in a 2-pack that costs less than 2 regular figures.
Of all the vintage "standard buck" figures, Faker followed by Zodac are my least favorite. Tri-Klops, Webstor, Jitsu, Fisto, Stinkor, Scare Glow, Ninjor, Clamp Champ and Moss Man all had an extra gimmick beyond their body-mates. Stratos was an aesthetic improvement on Beast Man, and while Man-At-Arms and Merman aren't improvements on He-Man and Skeletor, they have "A-list in fiction" going for them.
So... I would improve Faker by casting him in light-sensitive plastic that changes from blue to He-Man's skin color and a unique torso where the front comes off to reveal the robotic innards.

Fucking this. Mega being my favorite line is suffering. I love Origins and like Masterverse well enough, but Mega is just so fun.
For the love of God, before the line ends at least grant me a Webstor, Clawful, Clamp Champ, Ninjor and Buzz-Off.
I'd love more Horde members and some Snake Men, but at this rate I'd say that is 100% unlikely. Getting all 5 of the characters I want is already unlikely.

Way better, I'm glad I skipped out on Teela entirely in hopes of her getting the knee fix. This head sculpt is pretty great, will likely display her without the snake armor so there's some more variation between her and the goddess aside from the face.

Basic He-man and Skeletor are decent I suppose if you can swap out the heads. Skeletor likes to fall because of his ankles. He-man to me looks best with another head and a harness swap if you find a cheap origins he-man grab him and part him out.

Faker is OK but for me he's too much of a deviation from blue he-man to enjoy. but I put on the terminator faker head I got from classics space skeletor and for me it made the figure. So your milage will vary.

Moss man as was stated is fine except the lack of ankle rockers makes him a bit less fun to pose and his vine hand is so heavy he can not hold it up in any fun pose.

Savage he-man is OK. Slap a classics head on and you have an oolar. Or wait like me to put the viking he-man alt head on him. Again your milage will vary.

Scareglow is a decent figure if you can stand that only the head glows. If that's a deal breaker than it is what it is.

Andra and teela are OK as far as figures. Kinda boring but you can skip these 2 if you aren't a completionist moron like me. If you get both you can put the helmet and cape on teela and not have to see angry shaved head teela and instead have the cool mercenary look.

Skelegod is a fun concept but will fall all the time due to weak ankles. If you want him get a stand for him

Battlecat I think is cool he is the biggest battle cat yet.... err maybe. But his exaggerated helmet might turn you off and he-man can not really ride him which really fucking sucks.

I think that about covers the line so far

I'm not a big fan of Fangor, but I can see how he works for a lot of people.

You'll have to forgive this autistic dissection, but look at the existing Snakemen, and they all have features that mirror actual snake behavior
>Kobra Khan sprays water, mimicking how a spitting cobra sprays venom
>Rattlor has the rattle and the spring loaded head is the way rattlesnakes strike quickly when attacking
>Tung Lashor is just tongue flicking, which all Snakes do
>Sssqueeze does constriction like a python
>King Hiss is basically a take on shedding skin, as snakes do
>Snake Face stretches things a little since he's not based on a real snake, but his feature is meant to do what gorgons were supposed to have done.

And then you come to Fangor. Real life vipers fold their fangs up when they close their mouths, and they "spring out" when the viper strikes. You could conceive an action feature with a closed mouth that, when you open it, fangs just pop out and extend, and then retract when you close the mouth again.

And I think that's the key to new Snakemen. It has to do something that you can find in real life snakes (or at least a confirmed ability of a fictional snake)

The 200X toy had a yellow face instead of the bone white the animated series went with, which is what I think they were going for. But it's a design that loses its charm when the edge is sucked out of it. But it's not bad, really, just a clear sign of the limits of Origins.

I had resided to the thought he'd be like the vintage and have the 4 legs sculpted together as 2 legs. It's a big deal that Mattel pumped money into making Mantenna in the first place and not only that, but they didn't cut corners and give him 2 legs, since he's a character with very little re-use possibilities. This bodes well for a Modulok in our future, and that Mattel will likely re-make the vast majority of the vintage figures.

Todays Origins reveals knocked my socks off. Mondays were a bit of a snore, the new Masterverse from Tuesday look like a huge step up, and I don't think a single boring or bad Origins was shown today. So presumably tomorrow they'll show off the heroes for Masterverse since it seems like they were alternating days.
What do you think is shown for Friday? I'm really fucking hoping it's some new Mega Construx, that line needs a push. But I suspect it will be an Origins playset of some variety and maybe one or two other Origins.

How many people care about Dragstor? I know "complete the vintage line!" meaning MotU but not PoP, but that doesn't necessarily mean being fans of Dragstor in particular. After all, Rotar and Twistoid are vintage MotU and their Classics figures are still shelfwarming at BBTS >6.5 years later.

All new parts: vintage figures were made up of 6-7 body parts, so if the torso contained a new gimmick, that had to be unique, the head would be unique, and wanting to do anything new visually with the arms or boots meant the limbs would be new too. With increased articulation, a look like Snout Spout's can be recreated with reused upper arms and thighs, and they moved the water reservoir from the torso to the backpack.

Well, Blade can reuse pieces this time around quite easily.
The fact that they managed to give Mantenna head articulation AND keep the action feature bodes very well for Tung Lashor, Saurod and Snake Face.
It's possible thry might do Spikor as removable armor instead of a new torso.
And I'm VERY curious to see if they find a way to give Blast Attak and Dragstor waist articulation with the features they have.
I'm also curious to whether Extendar's gimmick will cause articulation restrictions

Pretty neat. Will probably get CGI He-Man. Not really a fan of bearded BA HM. Sun Man looks pretty cool. He-Ro looks alright. Heads still look to be on the smaller side. She-Ra looks good.

So far I am most looking forward to New Eternia Skeletor, CGI Skeletor, CGI He-Man and Hordak. With Origins it's 200X He-Man and a few other cool figures.

I really am a big fan of all the reveals, but they kind of have their own identities in what they are, as in they're not really perfectly translated from any one piece of media (even the Revelation figures are beholden to re-use), but these two just look like they were ripped out of the cartoon and made into articulated figures. They look fantastic. Definitely excited to see more from the CGI show in Masterverse. Assuming it continues, I do wonder if we'll be mostly or even only getting powered up looks. Given the time the characters are in their civilian looks, those are also important. Maybe if it does exceptionally well we could get the less 'toyetic' looks.

Also about Sun Man, I'm excited to see what a Masterverse Pig Head would look like, and the rest of them, if they also come into the line. I would hope they get a bit of a reimagining like Sun Man got, especially the more boring or overly simplistic designs.

I wouldn't mind any hairstyle as long as the face itself was well sculpted. Would be nice if he came with both, but if he's a regular release he's already coming with a lot, so no problems here. Would be nice to know what's deluxe and what isn't. Of the reveals it seems like Hordak is and possibly She-Ra? But the cape not being wired kind of gives it away that she's a regular release? If she is, again, that's a lot in the package, much like Beast Man, and frankly most of these.

For Origins, they're starting to dig deeper into the obscure, which for some will be good, and for others will be not so good. Stridor showed up, a Roton, and some have guessed we'll see Snake Mountain tomorrow. It's shaping up really strong.
Will be up to the individual if they like it better or not, but I'm going to say things are looking better overall.

For Masterverse the reveals have been great, the line is also finally branching out into different parts of the franchise, as was originally promised, and we're starting to see what the line is all about, including those amazing looking renditions of the CGI He-Man and Skeletor.
100% better for Masterverse.

Origins 2021 had some great figures, but this year has released or teased just as many.
Masterverse 2021 was all Revelation, right?
Mega Construx 2021: Battle Ram w/ Mekaneck and Tri-Klops, Trap Jaw, Man-E-Faces, mini-comic Roboto, 1/12 brick Battle Cat with no figures.
Mega Construx 2022: Land Shark, Monstroid, Hordak, She-Ra, SNAKE MOUNTAIN, ???

Powercon Grizzlor was one of my top picks for best Origins last year.
And looking at THIS picture...hes kind of the lamest looking one in comparison.

Thats kind of a testament to how much Mattel is currently knocking it out of the park. A Figure of the Year can look lame next next to this year's offerings

That's a lot of Two-Bad love all at once if that's true. I'd hope that Zodac would be a NE one, spice up his design a bit.

Are Snake Men the least popular faction? I've always enjoyed them a lot.

Also wasn't CGI in part 2 of season 1? I find it hard to believe that Hordak is already coming, especially since they just barely touched on the Snake Men, and they keep showing hints of King Grayskull and his battles.

Apparently that Brazilian channel, my bad, forgot to include it. I don't see a post on IG, so I assume it was on their YT show/podcast.

They're the ones who found those Masterverse concept arts for NE Beast Man, She-Ra, Catra, and NE BA He-Man. Also the recent Frosta, Stratos, Roboto and Sorc-Lyn. Not sure what else.

Shit, I'm surprised at the variety of colors on his armor. I know I sound like a broken record, but it really gives me hope that a 200X wave can look as good if not better than the originals. They don't seem to be cheaping out on characters with complex designs. I almost can't believe it's Mattel.
