>>9681654>This is irrelevant. Movies only have a profitability toy cycle of about a month. This is bullshit.
There's a reason why Hasbro used to have WAVE after WAVE of just movie toys. Each wave has a period of 2-3 months of being on the shelves.
To note, while Hasbro no longer does super articulated toylines for movies and has merged movie figures in with the Marvel Legend series, they're making more money doing what they're doing now, with the MLs and the stupid kid shit movie toys /toy/ never talks about.
And to note, movie lines always got a second wind when they were released on video/streaming. Hence stores ordering a shit ton more products during those releases.
And back to the point, if only distributor sales mattered, the GI Joe Retaliation line wouldn't have killed the GI Joe line. Again, poor sales without a movie to push sales is what made Walmart/Target stop ordering all GI Joe products. Again, previous GI Joe consumer sales were high enough that the line had continued for years and years and why Retaliation had bigger support than expected from Walmart and Target (and other retailers). This is why GI Joe was considered an evergreen line, as it had nonstop support for over a decade.
