Mego Questions

No.9703179 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I noticed that the art on the packaging for Mego's Moleman uses the same illustration for Super7's Reaction Moleman.
What's weird about this to me though, is that to my knowledge Super7 commissioned Ed Repka to illustrate Moleman for their packaging, like many of the illustrations on Super7's stuff.

How come Mego is using it? Is the illustration ultimately owned by Universal Studios since it was an illustration commissioned for merchandise under their license? And then they just gave Mego permission?

It just seems weird cus Mego makes other Universal Monsters but JUST the Moleman is using the art commissioned by Super7. Also why is the graphic design for Mego stuff so jarringly awful? Even their website looks like it was designed by someone who doesn't know shit about graphic design. Does them not hiring a good designer contribute to them being able to keep all their prices pretty low?
