>>9711409>their license terms with Marvel do limit them based on POA count as well. It's been said many times that they aren't allowed to go over 16 POAThis sounds like lies created by someone who stopped paying attention to Diamond Toys in 2012, because Diamond has increased their articulation count from their statueshit days and some figures have way over 16PoA. There's more than a few MS who are as articulated as many MLs today, so that whole "McFarlane-style PoA counting" doesn't add up.
So did MS only have the license to make 8PoA back in the day, then went to 16PoA, and now just Marvel said fuck it? Probably not, because most collector lines followed this same trend. Companies like NECA, Mezco, DCD, etc also went from making McStatues to being as articulated as MLs, because the collector market has grown a ton since the 00s, garnering more sales and these companies were able to increase the budgets to give their figures more acccessories, more articulation, and other cool shit.
And the keyword here is: TREND. Just like 7" figures, all these companies are just copying each other when a gimmick manages to get more sales (yes, larger scales and more articulation is a gimmick).
Also, why would only Diamond be limited in PoA, when companies like Mezco give their figures more articulation than MLs? Diamond has been a long time licensor for Marvel and been buddy-buddy with them long before Disney, yet they're limited? Doesn't add up, especially when you acknowledge the fact that Japan has even more toys in roughly 6" sizes with a ton of articulation, despite the fact that Hasbro also has the license for mass market toys over there.
>are only allowed to produce a specific number of marvel figures each year including a set number of Disney store exclusivesI believe this, because this is actually observed, unlike PoA restrictions
