the escaflowne transformation is mostly bs in the show and it doesn't even transforms in most of the episodes, unlike the valkiries which were made to have a totally plausible toy transformation that's also accurate to the show.

anons quick - tomorrow im going to visit one town i had to visit 2 days ago. After quick visit to their toy store i saw this Bumblebee (netflix earhtrise one if im not mistaken)

He costs 20$ and i didnt buy him because he was not "happy yellow" but had some sort of "orange" color for some reason.

However after watching some youtube videos i like the figure now and want to own it.

i never saw him during earhrise and after seeing i thought it's some new figure they released.
And that store had 2 of them...hmm...may be i should buy both of them and keep 2 sealed just in case.

I'm in europe tho. Not sure what bumblebee demand is in my aread.
We also have Autobot Tracks for 16$ and some of voyager class transformers for 20$

Picked up legacy prime.
It's actually a nice figure, except for the absolute shit arms.
The placement of the shoulders, damn near the middle of the torso and so close to the center does it no favors, add that to how slender they're and those flaps and you're left with what should be a nice figure but is let down by its super compromised arms.

I wish they just used a simpler transformation, closer to the original.

I soured on this mold for years but the super mode deco really does make him look much better. There was also that universe version they retooled into Dion but I've never handled that personally.

Is it people who had certain toys as kids that are willing to pay silly prices for them now, or is it people who didn't have them and want to "make amends" with that?

While I loved my TM Tarantulas, I cannot see myself buying it for more than $20 today and even then I'd probably resell it to someone else. But I would very much like to see a new TM Tarantulas.

I thought that's the case for most vintage collectors, but that might be bias as I come from a country where Transformers toys were scarce, so it's only natural that older folks would covet them (mostly G1, of coure).

Sure, but then it'd be impossible to get anything close to a lamppost mode.
Honestly, wfc/foc really solidified soundwave for the car alt mode he got in rid, cyberverse, and authentics.
They were a pretty big departure from the scion xb shape of animated, and it basically proved car soundwave would sell, if it looked cool enough.

Yeah, the modern kids figures may have some more articulation but they feel flimsy and compromise by having to imitate implausible transformations for their budget and thus use a lot of fake parks. The neat thing about Armada toys is, even though they're simple, they still feel like robust figures and designs.

Had an idea for Shockwave as a sort of tripod version of his Cyberverse alt mode, like a walking self-propelled gun. I figured the robot legs become the front two vehicle legs, whilst the backpack becomes the third leg.

I actually like og hot shot. The gimmick is stupid but enjoyable despite compromising articulation, but that's most of armada in a nutshell.

My general issue with sideways is it could have been really cool, but the proportions are wonky and I guess all the budget went into the headmaster with changing logo gimmick.

I'm assuming there were two reasons for this not being the direction
1) it looks a LOT like siege ironhide and he's a deluxe.
2) for siege, the only land based original mold decepticons were megatron, brunt, and micromasters. The autobots were the reverse with no air-only bots. They were clearly going with a theme.

I know. That's what I mean, stuff like cyberverse and Primespark should have character designs designed in-house like how the mainline stuff is. Most of the Armada figures don't go beyond 10 steps and could even work for the even simpler automated transformation stuff they were doing for some lines.

I payed about £40 for mine but that's because his chrome was a bit cracked and had flaked off in places. He was missing the pizza cutter too which was next to impossible to find for a decent price. I did luck out and find one though, beats the £80 people were charging for a complete TM Tarantulus at the time

I've had the Megatronia brainworms lately but refuse to spend £200+ on the set, so I've been fiddling with CW Hot Spot a lot lately, what a fun little dude. I love his clicky shoulders, and his arms in general feel great with their double jointed elbows and being able to pivot at the elbows too. I like how the combiner ports are at the top of his shoulders, he looks awesome with two giant arms hanging off him. I just wish his legs were better, the knees can definitely be fiddly and everything below there is just a brick, which can be posing hard. Either way, it's nice just to pick him up and have a good fiddle with it, a reliable fella.

So odds are waiting for them won't work.

Hasbropulse has the entire japanese version of abominus for $200. It's pricey (because it has fancier paint and more accessories) but it's sold as a set so no hunting down individual ones.
big bad toy store has 2 torsos (elita and hun grr) and 2 limbs (richochet and red swoop) if you think mixing and matching is a good idea. They're certainly cheaper than some other options.
You can also do mix and match on amazon.
Any "Combiner Wars" or "Power of the primes" voyager will be a torso, and any deluxe will be a limb. Just make sure not to accidentally buy an oversized knockoff.
Expect to pay about 90 for the 4 limbs, and 35-40 for the torso (a reasonable price is 30, but good luck finding that in today's market)

Cyclonus had both of these things happens. I remember a number of posters finding out their copies had yellowed around February.

I'm not entirely sure that's the main reason.
Go back and look at what they did with Transformers, they started mirroring what caused Dreamwave's downfall.
They started relying too heavily on them, started making all their properties about it (Rom, Mask, visionaries... action man? I can't remember the name of that one)
Also they had 2 EXTREMELY different TF comics that straight up contradicted each other.
Then add the fact that the artwork was getting more and more... hard to look at.

Then they reboot, and all of it goes away except for one comic.
Then there were two.
Then three
then four.
And the art kept getting worse and worse.

Prior to that was the abysmal failure of Beast Hunters comic, and the start of the Ramondelli comics which also did poorly.
then they split the comics up, trying to cater to different types of TF fans, but MTMTE became more successful than the "main" comic, so they did dark cybertron and did a soft reset that ended up just gutting the main comic even more.
They weren't doing bad, just they weren't doing as well as they did before.
Then came the Optimus prime book in 2016
2016 really started the steady decline. There was no real saving it after that.

Actually a lot better than the stock photos let on. I saw him in the store and decided just to give him a shot.
The proportions really do work for him in person, I think that comes from not looking at him dead on, as in hand the face of the truck as his chest protrudes quite a bit, and really helps sell him as the beefy do-gooder he's loved for.
Transformation is alright, everything in both modes goes together well, there's no obvious hollowness in the figure unless you look at the bottom of the cab in robot mode.
I'm not crazy about the shield in robot mode, it just doesn't seem to really look good anywhere but that's a minor complaint as you can just keep it attached to his back and don't even have to remove it for transformation.
Energon chain gun is lame, but that's a problem with the line as a whole. Mace hand rules and is a clever way of integrating an iconic weapon of his without sacrificing anything in either mode, as you also get both functional 5mm compatible hands in robot mode, and it hides away neatly in the bed of the truck in vehicle mode, rather than plonked on the top like so many other accessories in vehicle mode as of late.
Really solid figure overall. I recommend him.

-Improper plastic mix, maybe they got new employee's to oversee that process and they fucked up.
-Too much plastic reuse. Hasbro recycles unused parts for toys, melting them and mixing them to be reused. This is done withy any extra parts on the mold (extra heads, weapons, etc...) and any excess plastic that didn't get used the first time around.
-Being left in port with stupidly high temperatures for months.

The legs. Comparing the details, a number match BH Prime, including the thighs. It's harder to tell due to all the changes they've done to Prime characters like Arcee, but at least that section is similar. I can also see them removing the entire cab section and replacing it with a new one for Prime and we won't have to worry about wonky proportions because the arms on that prime are resting on top of the back of the truck.

I have a hunch that the engineering on Bulkhead's tarp shield is intended for Beast Hunter Prime's jetpack.

But both had windows, which obviously protected the contents from accidental wear, contaminants and yes, theft. this new decision that's been marketed as having been done to cut waste and be eco friendly doesn't even make sense, since the window seals on kingdom were all recyclable. They just want to cut cost on the packaging, while keeping the higher price point and take a few more cents per unit.

Transformers Generations Thrilling 30s Windblade

The hype machine that is the fan created character herself.
Fun fact; this is the first I've gotten her jet mode together. Only took 8 years.
You have to push the wings past what feels like the natural stopping point. Which is scary because the plastic all around that area is thin as hell.

And now that it's together.... It's mostly okay. I like her Air Raidy colour scheme. I like the signature VTOLs. I like the relatively slim profile, for a jetformer.
It's just that uhhh... center chunk you might notice. With the incredibly obvious robot shins sticking out. Not to mention the heinous gap between them. So close.

Interesting that she's almost solid black here but her toys got more and more red as time went on.

What an incredibly sharp falcon-like stare you have, Windblade.
Glad that softened up as her design was iterated on. It is a rather off-putting face for a character that is designed to be popular, and I don't just mean the make-up.
Nowadays she's just got some red eyeliner and a bit of a headdress. This is too intense.

I do like the extra red that shows up in robot mode. Makes for a good balance.
She's more stable on her heels than I remember. That is to say she can stand perfectly straight well enough.

Windblade poses a bit better than you'd expect for a toy with 65%of it's mass at shoulder height and collapsing heels.
But I'm also not a very good poser as evidenced here, and every one of my other posts over the last year.

Ball joints in the shoulder and hips.
Swivels at the neck, waist, biceps, thigh and wrists.
Hinges at the elbows and knees.
The wrists are nice to see for a sword wielder. They weren't exactly standard issue back in the day.
Hasbro sure was quick to get rid of the removable fan. Same time they halved Windblade's make-up budget.

She kind of feels like a movie toy. A valiant first attempt, but the first try never goes right. Unfortunately for her there's never been a second pass at this simple and clean version of Windblade.

Since Windblade was mentioned earlier it reminded me that I've been reading FT Windblade is a bit fragile and I'm a bit worried. I have assembled a model kit or two (just built a digimon model that's really solid) and didn't jave much problems, I really hope this is another case of people just being ham handed which is not rare in tfw.

Her primary issue is that most of her joints don't use polycaps, like most Flame Toys kits (and most other companies) usually would. The anon from the previous thread said it felt like MG Sinanju, which is a kit infamous for plastic-on-plastic jointing. So it's a 50/50 of actually moving the joint or shearing it off via friction

For me, all that's really missing is a waist swivel. Her torso is pretty complex design was, and I was baffled as to how the hell didn't it include one. It seems most of the engineering went to making her thighs and her limited torso articulation more visually seamless.
She's still plenty cute for me to justify having her, though. Bless Ban.

They are generally pretty damn good with a few snafus.
Some people seem to have issues with clear plastic (I haven't experienced any of that and I have all the usual suspects)
And a number of figures have really bad yellowing issues that there's no way to prevent (I HAVE experienced this unfortunately).

Yeah, she has some other problems, too - like the fact that on my kit, her bicep likes to explode apart whenever you put the teensy tiniest pressure on it, and the fact that her build had some greatly frustrating moments to it in terms of plastic clearance. She's not that much of a fuck up otherwise, but Flame Toys do have some places they need to improve.

I wish I had a standing shelf unit with shelves deep enough to accommodate Metroplex's city mode, but then again shelves don't usually go that deep and it'd be a pain to get risers for smaller figures to not get lost in the clusterfuck.

Apparently we're not getting beast hunter optimus from the bulkhead mold. As it stands now, he'll probably just get a repaint/slight remold as a velocitron exclusive. Unfortunate, really. I was looking forward to getting it.
