i see it here a lot and other online communities as well.
why do people order from them but not ship their items out? just so they can hold on to the item until the shipping rates get better or something?

Yeah. They spend hundreds of dollars on items they won't see for years just so they can save a few bucks on shipping. It's basically long distance hoarding.

Most people are just joking, we really have no idea how many people are actually keeping stuff in their for years.
Generally, people just keep stuff in there until another item they've ordered comes into stock since it saves having to send to packages.

I think the people hoarding stuff for ages and ages are outliers, most people just hold onto stuff for a month or two tops so they can ship it alongside something they have preordered. It’s nice for plamofags because their sales often have niche hobby tools/supplies that wouldn’t be cost-effective to ship on their own.

It's already happening, HLJ sent out emails warning DHL shipping is about to go up. Honestly feel a little bad for them, they're gonna get fucked with shipping only going higher. Less and less of a reason to buy from Japan unless you absolutely have to.

Agreed. DHL is already 2/3 the price of an average figure. Add on tax and you're paying basically local prices which negates any sort of incentive to import.

Am I the only one thinking cheap shipping will never come back? They will probably resort to an ultimatum at some point where they'll ask you to use DHL (or whatever) or cancel your order (in yens so with the yen tanking, you'll loose money).
